It's tied for my favorite. The other is the Oregon Duck in the office looking out at the ducks playing in the pond. Between those two spots, two words were spoken, but so much was said.
These "This is SportsCenter" adds have always been a staple of the company ever since I started following sports. They work because they are simple comedic bits that work with great timing from everyone involved. My favorite's were the Steve Austin one with Dan Patrick because of how over the top that was with Dan Patrick nailing Steve with a steel chair to give him some midnight cramming fuel. The John Clayton one is memorable because I think just about everyone had these ideas of what John Clayton was like when he wasn't reporting on the NFL for ESPN and John Clayton always had a unique cray villain look about him. To see that he was wearing a Slayer cut off sleeve shirt and and had a scullet pony tail was just hilarious the year that premiered. The New Jersey Devil mascot elevator bit was such a simple idea but very effective. Looking forward to seeing the Becky Lynch one soon.
Lmao, why is this so epic? My favorite espn compilation ever haha this was awesome! Mom im done with my segment!! Step brothers*: mom wheres the meatloaf?!?!? Lmfao
My wife works in IT and was on the Y2K tank force at her employer. She had to be in the office at 7am on 01/01/2000. We both thought, "Follow me to freedom!" was hysterical.
0:44 - “25 years ago, when the concept of the “This Is SportCenter” commercials was conceived, some feared that the world’s greatest athletes might not be willing to make the trip to Bristol, Connecticut.” Punchline to that “joke”: Keith Olbermann NEVER wanted to make the trip to Bristol, Connecticut the whole time he worked at “the Worldwide Leader”. One of the conditions for him to do his last show for ESPN (before his current podcast) was for him to do the show from NYC, such was his dislike for Bristol.
Was a pure shot of nostalgia into the veins. I enjoyed these so much, I used to watch sportscenter everyday until it got all weird plus the layoff/firings or all the talent lol
Sports is a good way to inspire a good culture, fun, comedy, etiquette, respect, reduces racism and support good health for growing families like art and fitness on netflix or tv
God, they’re giving a commercial from this great series to boring ass Becky Lynch? Woof. I’d rather see another Richard Simmons one. I’m sure the commercial will be as scripted and predictable as her awful promos are.
haha I have loved these commercials since i was a child! Keep it up SportsCenter!
The devil going down was hilarious
