I will always love Herbie! I remember as a kid I was into VW Beetles. I was in Door County back in 2015 driving through a small town, and I see a white VW Routan. It was decorated the same way as Herbie. It had a 53 on the front and back, and it had the red, white, and blue stripes. It was amazing to see that
6:25:Has always somehow reminded me of the former game show Match Game theme,as one of the contestants would win, lights would flash and the panel of celebrities-Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Betty White, Richard Dawson, Fannie Flagg, Patty Duke, etc, would show us their answers and then wave goodbye to the "defeated"contestant(and it always looked to me like Richard Dawson was making a funny face as he waved goodbye.)
From 7:29-7:33, it's weird of all those people to be running into the ring where there's a bull and it's surprising how the bull doesn't run up to attack them. I can only assume the bull got lead away by the bull fighters to get locked away.
Herbie and Paco is very kind 👍🏼and understanding😇 to let that bloody Captain Blythe joining them on the trip, even though it was the Captain who drop the beetle into the ocean. Eventually he make it up to young Paco and Herbie by making them first mates if they manages to help them out of the bullfight, but not before he gets a rub on the cheeks by the young boy😂🤣
@Stephen Treadwell I can agree with that because when Thorndyke fainted when seeing the bear thinking it was Havershaw, the bear was shaking him like he was saying "wake up and drive or we'll crash." That bear must have felt that he and Thorndyke were in danger which is why it didn't do anything to Thorndyke and after the car stopped it roared and scared him away. However, at least that wasn't a grizzly bear but a black bear and not only that, a black bear wouldn't really hurt someone unless a person was bothering and/or touching it's babies or if a person was inside a black bears cave since a black bear wouldn't want visitors in it's cave.
Most 60s cars didn't really come standard with seat belts, at least not cars made outside the US. Some cars, VW Beetle's in particular, had pull straps on the pillars behind the doors. Wearing seat belts wasn't mandatory yet. That law was passed 4 years after this movie.
Sadly, a lot of the stunt cars used in the Herbie series were either scrapped or salvaged for reusable parts in other cars. So it was likely that the radio was removed to prevent damage that it would’ve sustained during filming. On a side note, there are many dedicated fans of the movies that have saved these cars from junkyards and restored them to their original glory.
@Tyler Wheeler Perhaps that bear was only friendly to Thorndyke because Thorndyke fainted when seeing the bear and the bear only shook him to say "wake up and drive or we'll crash" since the bear felt the danger and didn't want to crash and die.
It wasn't intentional, it's just that those bad guys, Prindle and Quinn(the ones who say,"They got voodoo down here, you know that?")are after Paco on account of a photo he had stolen from them(he cannot figure out what they want the photo for, though)and as he is trying to flee them he ends up in the bull ring.
@@MrJamieMurph4141969 It was actually film that they were trying to get back from Paco. At first Paco stole Mr. Shepherd's wallet that had the film inside where Paco threw the wallet inside a mailbox, and when they got the wallet back they noticed that Paco took the film away and were chasing him to get it back.
Yes, I know. As you know, not long before this, when Paco turns Herbie into a taxi, Prindle and Quinn, who have been secretly keeping tabs on Paco since he escaped them in Panama, suddenly show up thereby cornering him, demanding to know what he’s done with the film(explaining that it was missing when they got the wallet back) and Paco quickly gathers that he may have accidentally put it in Pete’s wallet(which he did), which is why he goes to them and “robs” them again. But what he can’t understand is what they want the film for, until they kidnap him(thereby taking him on their plane with them), and THAT’S when he not only gets the answer, but in the process finds out they wanted the film for the “wrong reasons,” as you know, in other words because they’re gold thieves. Thus he (and Herbie “Ocho”) become heroes in the end, by putting Shepard, Quinn, and Prindle in their deserved places.
@@MrJamieMurph4141969 That's right. When Prindle and Quinn cornered Paco in that garage, Prindle asked where the film was which they couldn't find after getting the wallet back and Paco said it got mixed up in another wallet which was Pete's. I guess they told Paco where to meet him because after Paco got the wallet back from Pete and got the film back, Prindle said "here comes the boy" thinking he was going to stop and give them the film but he ended up driving away with Herbie causing Prindle and Quinn to chase him. (At least in the garage scene Prindle showed that they were not going to hurt him where he said to Paco, "just relax sonny.")

@TwilightSparkle3562 That's true and he was the cause for Pete and D.J. to get jobs as waiters when Herbie was boarded onto the ship for them for racing in Panama.
Because ocho is Spanish for the number eight, which is the sum of five and three(reference to the two digits forming Herbie's number,53, so Paco claims just before the end of the movie when DJ asks just that of him, why he keeps calling the car Ocho, adding,"Isn't that Spanish for the number eight?"and again Paco explains that "five and three are eight,"pointing to Herbie's number 53.
This herbie movie was terrible, with Cousin Oliver driving around Mexico with the characters from The Godfather chasing them around trying to kill everyone. Not even Harvey Korman could save this movie
3:58 Dent on the car’s right side.

The bull just gave up lololol
Thats because herbie got the better of him.
He seemed to attack without provocation. Did he know what he was doing even?
@Saab 99 Yes, the bull was looking at Herbie from 7:23-7:26 like it was saying "okay you win I lose."
The bull simply admitting defeat in the end as he watched Herbie drive off.

I appreciate this one more as an adult than as a child. I love the setting, which is rare to see in American productions.
