I discovered this particular performance at Easter 2023. It is absolutely beautiful, expertly peformed and inspiring. The dynamics of the singers are wonderful and their delivery of these complex harmonies appears to be effortless. Already in the opening phrases we know we are in for something magical (viz: the harmony on the word "sky" at 1min 17s, just to name but one). Having listened to other versions with many more singers, it's my feeling that the choice of 12 female voices is perfect. And the length of that last chord... stunning. Well done to the pianist, the conductor and the sound engineer too; a fantastic piece of recorded art that we, the public, can return to time and time again.
I am so glad I found this! We sang this when I was in All State Women's Choir back in 2005 and it has resonated with me since. So glad to have found this arrangement!
Gorgeous!!❤ I thank you God for most this amazing day For the leaping greenly spirits of trees And a blue true dream of sky And for everything that is natural, which is infinit, which is yes I who have died am alive again today And this is the sun's birthday This is the birth day of life and of love and wings And of the gay great happening ilimitably earth How should tasting, touching, hearing, seeing, breathing any Lifted from the no of all nothing Human merely being doubt unimaginable You? Now the ears of my ears awake And now the eyes of my eyes are opened ~E. E. Cummings~
Donna Walker This group gets together during the summer. The members come from choral groups throughout the mpls/stp area. This is the women’s section from the mixed Chorale.
I sang this song my sophomore year and it's resonated with me ever since. Talk about beautiful poetry and incredible arranging!
