  • Italy is reportedly planning to buy an additional 24 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets for its air force. A spokesperson for BAE Systems on May 14 2024 confirmed this, but there were no further details.
It said that it was still waiting for formal parliamentary proceedings which were scheduled to take place in the summer of this year.
Meanwhile, the Italian Air Force and Leonardo Aircraft have not provided any information regarding this matter.
Over the past 20 years, AM has operated 94 Eurofighter Typhoons with a total of more than 80,000 flying hours with this type of aircraft.
In Italian Air Force, the Typhoon fleet has so far been trusted to carry out 24-hour Quick Reaction Warning (QRA) missions, both nationally and internationally.
