For the Wooper one, you could also mention how two regional forms of the same Pokémon were also released, with Meowth. I think Labsire stands out a lot among Quag and Clod too! It’d be the professors lab partner lol

Honestly, I ended up making a pepper pokemon line myself years ago with it's middle stage named Capsaskidd and you have no idea how happy seeing Capsakid in the game with such a similar name it made me feel so SMART

Parallel thinking is real! I think we should embrace and appreciate the creative process and thinking behind the project itself before drawing comparisons. Similar things can coexist!
Furthermore, I have always found it cool when different modes of thought lead to similar outcomes simply because of the coincidence or the chance or a hidden variable we overlook.

This isn’t entirely related to the subject of the video, but i just wonder… if this region were official, where in the world would it be set? All the mainline regions are based on some real-life country/region, so i wonder where Stema would be. Or maybe it’s like an artificial region? There’s precedent for that. Aether Paradise is an artificial island/research station, and in Pokemon Masters, Pasio is a full-on region-sized artificial island
The first thing that came to my mind was Antarctica. It's a region where only researches live.

Probably a made up place that’s not based an any real world location, with some cities based on science labs across the world.

My usual response to seeing Game Freak use an idea I had is 'great! I wanted this!' partnered with 'I really gotta figure out some other ideas now!'
Like, I had an entire game concept based around time travel (the classic 'Pokemon Past' and 'Pokemon Future'), but when Koraidon and Miraidon were revealed, I was afraid that Game Freak had beaten my concept to it. But ultimately the time travel 'mechanic' was limited to a line of not-really-legendary-but-sort-of-legendary-anyway Paradox Forms, so my concept of the trainer traveling through time wasn't even touched.
...now I hope that the DLC has the trainer traveling through time somehow...

There is a time traveling machine in SV, but it got shut down when the AI professor went through it. + any trainer who went through it would never be able to return to the present day.

I totally get what you mean, seeing things for Scarlet & Violet coming out and going "welp, I can never post those ideas without getting accused of stealing..."
I had drawn ideas back when I was in middle school (all the way back in 2015!) for fakemon games based on a future/past theme, I had called Rose and Violet... like the flowers.
On top of that... (major spoilers below)
I had even thought of having the professor being the villain, AND the profession having a realistic android they control- but I had stopped developing the idea because I thought it was too unrealistic for a pokemon game! The bitter irony of it all... I feel your pain.
I guess on the plus side, you may now call yourself a Poké-Prophet. That was some serious ESP you had there!
Man I love the way you speak. People normally dont get that there is no way something is completely original if not for the twist representing you as a creator give to it. I really loved all of your designs and they have nothing to envy to Pokémon's design! I really am waiting for more news on your project! Keep up the good work!

I've been feeling this ever since Scarlet and Violet came out. I've been working on my own fan region in private and a lot of fakemon I made are very similar to ones in the new games. There's some general ones like a macaw and a dolphin that im fine with keeping since their designs and concepts are not similar to the real pokemon (plus its not like there can only be one pokemon for every animal anyway). I even have my own grass/fire pepper since like you said, it seems like a very obvious concept, but in order to make it stand out, I'm also incorporating elements of samba dancers into the concept since my region is based on Brazil. But there's one fakemon I made which is so shockingly similar to a new pokemon that I think I just have to scrap it: I have a fakemon based on crickets and locusts that are bug/dark.
I’m happy my region has something that will never come, a fire bug starter.

I have a lot of overlapping ideas with GF each generation with my fan region since 2013 when I started it, but the type changing gimmick was the most surprising. But I guess it was a no brainer

I feel this. I draw up ideas in a friend's server for Sonic designs and although I take inspirations from certain game characters I feel like I accidentally overlap with unintentional characters and have the anxiety of the "This person did it first" whether I did it first or not and feel like people can express things their own way. I like your Stem based region and it's origins, designs and direction are really great really feeling like they belong in your world for what it can teach people. It's pokemon inspired by the roots but is it's own beautiful thing.
This generation has taken the name of not one, but two different fakemon I've made in the past. I really do feel you on this sort of thing.
I'm very excited to see how you could translate the oddities of quantum mechanics into a pokemon. Maybe they could have some ability to hit through protect or substitute to simulate tunneling
An idea I had wrt the mint and pepper Pokémon just now:
Since they only *feel* like those types, I would have made them Something like Grass/Poison and give them abilities that makes their STAB moves add the simulated type.
So for instance the menthol one, it’s grass-type moves for the sake of weakness and resistance are treated as “grass/ice” (similar to Hawlucha’s signature move which is both fighting and flying)

It's always interesting to notice how many people ended up predicting an official Pokemon design, especially since the time gap between Scovillain and the countless fake pepper hydras online. Stuff like this definitely makes you question how creative GameFreak is, but I'm sure that they had at least some of these ideas on the backburner for a while.
I never really had the chance to say this until now, but I honestly love your work! Even after you removed your Stema mons from DeviantArt, I found a path to your Insta and UA-cam. Your mons are so unique, and the amount of detail and research you put into every one of them!

@@llamadrama1090 Scovillain isn't not the unique design I was referring too. (In fact, it's not as creative thanks to the fake pepper hydras before it.)
n0Rtist's designs are unique because they're based on Stem concepts rather than a real world location.
I actually like your 2nd version of Capsol the best. The 3rd one looks more generic and less interesting, like something anyone would come up with. The 2nd one looks more inspired to me. It doesn't have to look like Menthol to be a counterpart to it, in fact I think its better that they don't look the same.
Aw, i really love your Wooper form and Labsire, i would keep it to be honest, it would look original enough for your game, especially with the whole science-context it will have.

i remember making an alternate form for dialga and palkia, and a time based region where future and past pokemon exist before pokemon legends arceus and pokemon scarlet and violet were announced, and i was happy when i saw that my ideas were becoming a reality.
I do like the idea of this game being a college setting because it could imply two things:
1. The player character of Scarlet/Violet graduated from their school in Paldea
2. You’d be able to tutor some students from Naranja/Uva Academy
(Although you probably can’t include them because of copyright issues, it’s a fun idea to think about)
Your story encourages me very much to keep on creating and pushing forward, even when the work I did back then makes me cringe. You reminded me that I can always revisit my past works and revise them! So thank you for being an inspiration to both my own Pokémon fangame and my art as a whole. As to the intro of the video, a few weeks before Scarlet and Violet were released, I had actually began a fakemon project that had to do with a region based off of Spain. Needless to say I felt kind of weird after it was announced as now I felt I had to give up on the project due to some of the aspects being similar
You should make Minter and Capsol split evolutions
Also they probably should get Snow Warning and Drought (idk, just think it would be cool to have a grass type drought user)
Scarlett and Violent feels like a fangame anyways, and also the similarities ain't too noticeable(for me at least). Your art style is also different and cute.

something that I find funny is that I drew a pokemon with 2 chili peppers as heads, many months later when SV came out, I was surprised by the similarity it has with scovillain, well, I won't be the only one with this design in mind but I didn't expect come true

I think you should be good with Labsire being in the game Pokemon won't care if you just do what Xenoverse did and not the pokemon prefix to your fangame
This is the tip i'd reccomend anyone wanting make a fangame, but are afraid of Nintendo, just avoid using the Pokemon logo
Labsire's design is SO GOOD and I am sad that it's never going to be an actual creature in any game I can play. It looks so expressive and cheerful and shares a lot of features with some of my favourite Poké and Fakemon designs. I'm really glad you decided to at least show it off for us :D

Are you planning to have a mon similar to ditto in the sense that it copies other mons? (And in the sense that its very useful for filling the dex) Im not super into stem like I was when I was a kid but I feel like having a mon that can replicate another mon could be somewhere in the stem field. You're a really cool person and I myself am working on a Pokémon related open world game (Only thing similar is the monster catching aspect) and your videos are really fun to listen to while designing the game!
There’s another plant that I think would work, just as well as a fire grass type for inspiration as a Pokémon, compared to a pepper. Those giant invasive hog weeds they’ve are all over New York. And the sap causes third-degree burns. the fire carrot Pokémon just imagine that. There’s an old sci show video about the hog weed. If you want to find out about it, I know all about.

I love labsire, the inspiration makes total sense. If you want to keep ip on your region, i think changing the name and removing the wooper pre evolution, it could still be a cool single stage mon. I think it looks different enough from quagsire and wooper.

On one Hand Labsire is an Adorable wittle guy! on the other, If there is a Water Gym late-ish in the game, better bring a Burn Heal and take a deep breath because it's gonna be Scalding!
Malloaf is something Incredibly Silly but also amazing. A Fakemon based off cooking? Shoot… Imma Use the equivalent of Bulbapedia to find that Son of a Gun!
Although Grass/Fire is a cool combo (heh) I think Minter Wins here, at least for me... Especially if Minter/Capsol can be found on a Route early enough. I think having an Early Ice type be cooler than having a Grass/Fire

I was shocked you didn't keep Heatproof or give it Water Bubble or a custom ability that also has the burn prevention as it has to evolve while burned so it makes sense to adapt to that.
I mean it's natural to compare things even if you don't like it when it comes down to making a tier list or something you are comparing things.
I think it's fine to say you like one thing better than another and to compare but in the end understand that it's a subjective narrative a view you have and not an objective narrative being a fact.

Labsire is like a bigger axolotl and clodsire is an Iberian ribbed newt so their different enough
Feel like its worth mentioning that whatwe know as axolotles ‘grown up’ is actually still a juvenile form as they do have gene coding for growing up but actively dont. It’s possible to force adulthood on them and you end up with a muddy coloured salamander look.
I really like your vids! It has inspired me to at least make a concept for a monster catcher game based on geology, especially rocks and minerals, GeoMon! Because I have a special interest in rocks and minerals, I thought I'd put that knowledge to work!
I can relate, the first grass starter I made as a tiny little child was a grass cat, and now Sprigatito exists-
Ngl when I first saw the design I didn’t really see it as a Regional Wooper. Personally it feels like a distinct Axolotl Pokémon especially with how unique the design is compared to the generally subdued regional forms Pokemon does
back in 2021 I started making my own region and I had idea for water starter: Water duck that evolves into water fighting Crane that uses kunai, later i watched first trailer for Scarlet and Violet and when I saw Quaxley I have scrapped my starter
The doughling Evo method is the exact reason Fidough disappointed me so much. It's bread! Make it's evolution method involve fire!

It's very funny because before Scarlet and Violet came out, I had an idea for a Mexican and Brazil region that also featured a dolphin with rings on it, a, Flamingo that was also a flying fighting type, and a story about befriending the legendary Pokemon with one also lizard like and feathers because it was based off of Quetzalcoatl.
Though a lot diverged from it.
The flamingo Pokemon I had in mind was based on the flamenco dance and had the punny name of Flaminco whereas the flamingo Pokemon in Scarlet also has a Spanish inspired name of Flamigo.
My dolphin was a water psychic type, not a pure water type. Though the game does have a water psychic type in the annoying piranhas that is Veluza!! And unlike Finizen, I didn't plan for Ringphin to evolve.
Meanwhile Koraidon is more of a dinosaur. Arcoatl, meanwhile, has colorful plumage but is a snake. Mainly because the theme was rainbow and monochrome rather than scarlet and violet with the themes of tradition vs progression. Now that I think about it, It does have the accidental past and future vibe.
Meanwhile, while the region of Paldea is not based on Mexico and/or Brazil, It is based in Spain.
Your region would just be a giant lab filled with pokemon created there and are kept a secret of the public
Instead of having gym leaders you would have to fight head professors
The map would a be a small island and the lab would like cover 1/4 of it with the rest being some wild areas
Tho all fish pokemon would be in lakes so they wont escape to other regions

if you remake the types, ya should probably make it loops system so its balanced. like, a loop with fire,grass and water but fire is also part of another loop wich is fire,steel and rock and so on. then it would be balanced!
I hope you do choose to go with the idea of a school setting and graduating into a champion.
I think while yes, scarlet and violet are very similar to that, the way they go about it kinda sucks. I forgot there was even a school aspect of it before I beat the elite four and I don’t think I even went in the building once after the start of the game.
Something with more of a focus on the idea of a school could really be awesome.

I think you can keep Labsire as a single stage mon, even if you think you'd rather not have the wooper variant. Labsire looks like it's its own thing
MAN my legendaries look too similar in design to the scarlet and violet legendaries but my theme and inspirations are different luckily

fun fact: i have made a project of a game where you are a little creature that has to save the world from evil little creatures, and the characters that are the little creatures where called "pixeling" but then after a day i saw a youtuber named like that then i changed the name into "pixling" but then! i saw an ad about a game called "pixeling world" and now i hate every name in existence

I have an idea for the name of the professor of the region. since this is a stem-based region the professor should be named after a genus of tree instead of just a species of tree. I think they should be called professor Ilex which is the name of the holly tree genus
If you made Labsire a single-stager and change the name, I think you could get away with keeping them in your game.
