When you realize you're nostalgic to the sight of a giant winged alien impaling another animal and flying vertically in the air.
I first watched this video when I was 8 or 9 but somehow I always end up back here...
Same. Its the imagination... What could be. Also it's very well made.
Why do people think this is real? Don't you think the news would've had something to say about the discovery of highly advanced alien life? This is a documentary based on the book Expedition by Wayne Barlowe.
No shit it's not real! It's a fictional documentary. A docufiction, if you will. And yes, docufictions are a thing
It explores what aliens might look like, not actual aliens that we discovered
Man...as a kid at the time After seeing the actual documentary, I wanted to see more and I suddenly bump into this.... Brings back memories
I'm sad that I won't be able to see, when humans do actually reach other life forms. Life on other planets probably won't look anything like these creatures depicted in this documentary. But It sure does give you an idea how strange and weird life can adapt to any environment thrown at it.
Maybe the first organisms we'll discover beyond Earth are similar to the Amoebic Sea in the full docufiction (Alien Planet), as life may be in its first stages of development on other worlds. Perhaps we are the first intelligent civilization in our section of the universe, and everyone else is still getting there.
I dont know... the last ones (Emperor Sea Strider) looks pretty weird to me. Definitely not Earth-like
Be happy you dont know the consequences of advanced space travel we r lucky be content
One of my favorite YT videos ever. Please never delete this ever.
12 years ago, my childhood. This and Future is wild sparked my interest in Speculative Evolution
When I was a little kid, I was introduced to the Alien Planet documentary thanks to this video. What a nostalgia
日本から。小学生の時、たまたま遭遇したこの動画があまりにもロマンに溢れていて虜になってました。今もこの動画が残っているのは本当に嬉しいです!!
SO GLAD THIS POPPED BACK UP ON MY FEED!!!!! I've been searching for this gem for years!
I can't believe I'm watching this in 2020, seeing this video as a child had such a big impact on me, its unbelievable what a simple tribute to a documentary can actually do lol. this aged well.
Nice to come back here, lots of memories. Funny how fast 8 years creeps up on you...
It's great to have a reply from the maker haha, I got kinda obsessed with this documentary and stumbled upon this video. Loved the music so much, surprising how much it impacted my late childhood early teens. Must have been 12 or 13, now in second year of uni haha
I remember when I first saw this video. It was here I discovered this beautiful song. :')
This video, this fucking video is where it all started. Without this video I creatively never would have ended up where I am.
Weird to say that this old UA-cam montage was life changing but honestly it was to 9 year old me.
I first saw this when I was little. My dad and my brother and I were web surfing and found this. We thought that it was interesting ans weird. Then we got introduced to the people who composed the music in this video. We also got introduced to the documentary that this was from.
I'm not sure what's more surprising, the fact that The Corrs and aliens are in the same video or the fact that this unlikely combination actually works! You did a great job editing this. I must watch the full film sometime, it looks fascinating.
Holy **** this is one of the best instrumental vocals I have ever heard of. I remember when I was young and heard it; my ears were crying. It combines classical violin along with modern-day instrumentals. This alien story really made me think that life exists out in the stars. I just love it all!!! Thanks for putting this together:)
The Corrs have beautiful instrumentals, search for Rebel Heart, Long Erin Shore
I wasn't even alive when this was made, I wasn't even that young when I first saw it, but this will always be in my memory, God I wish there was another part to it
One of my favourite videos on the internet
What a cool and imaginative idea, airborne creatures that evolved in a way that represents a jet from our modern times, so awesome and this will always have a place in my heart and a keystone for my imagination and creativity
The algorithm blessed me today. Again after 15 years....
Este vídeo me hace recordar buenos tiempos 😢❤❤
It was this video that first introduced me to "Alien Planet" and "Silver Strand" by "The Corrs"
Aliensaurs XD
I do know that this video is not based on real alien life forms, but I do believe there has to be another conscious alien species somewhere out in the universe, whether it is in another solar system or even another galaxy itself which is similar to ours.
The people who made this must play Spore a lot!
actually no, the book this was based came out a few years before hand, look up wayne douglas barlowe, quite a few movies use his designs
Hi! I'm back after all these years, this video not only marked an before and after on my childhood It also marked my carreer! I discovered Alien planet by this video ages ago and always got inspired by the creature design and music. So I become a Character designer and Animator (I mean, i haven't gratuated yet, but here I am)
Thanks!
wow!! Thanks! I´m glad i´ve made part of your life.
As soon you have some work published in the net, i´d like to see it!
Take care,
This series will be iconic for decades to come
This feels like fever dream, I love it
I watched this video more times than I should in my life
man when I was 6 this was just whaaattt!!
i keep on coming back to this
The Grovebacks reminded me of the second Colossus! I also like the Lovecraftian seacreatures. Man, weird Discovery specials are rad!
First watched this video (and the documentary) like, 9 years ago. At the time I thought this was real, that I was watching the discovery of aliens first-hand, live from Earth.
I'd only find out sometime down the road that no, I wasn't witnessing actual footage of live aliens on a planet lightyears away from our own, but rather the brainchild of Wayne Barlowe.
I owe him everything. This documentary changed the course of my life. Without it, I would never have gotten into speculative biology. So into the Great Beyond, and everything within it. So passionate about the Arts that make up my life now. I would never have gotten the vigour, the fire in my heart, the ichor in my veins that enables me to love and make and create today.
His work didn't just inspire me. It made me. All starting with the fateful day 7 year old me turned the tv on halfway through a Discovery channel documentary named "Alien Planet".
It's been forever since you've uploaded, or interacted with your fans here. I'm not sure if you still use this channel, where you're at in life now, if you've forgotten you ever made this video. But if bychance you still do..
You've brought back so many memories I've thrown out to age. I'm truely grateful for this little capsule I find myself digging out now. You cannot possibly imagine the warmth and nostalgia flooding me now, revisiting this video after nearly a decade of radio-silence.
Thank you. So, so, very much.
I saw this video when it came out, and MAN the montage you made was just MINDBLOWING, its really well done, the musics fits in perfectly, its well timed (i dont know if by chance or hand-made butits great), just great video man!
it's cool that you are still active in comments, thank you for the video💯
did the robot twins get their license in spaceship piloting
Black Rick probably not since they have a 3rd who exploded and crashed before it even touched the ground
gagefarris - Balboa was it’s name. It was used to simulate a probe when it re-entered a planet’s atmosphere with a mechanical failure.
Joshu _Higashikata now that you mention it I did eat some weird fruit the other day.
the thought of cosmos is so comforting
Nostalgia alert!!!
This movie was released the same year I was born.I watched it when I was about 10 years old and I feel so nostalgic now.I watched it alpmg with "Extraterrestrial"(Documentary, not Steven Spielberg's movie).
I must have first seen this vid about six years ago, and I love it for listening to the music. But I'm very glad for it introducing me to Alien Planet and Expedition for the first time.
The imagery is arranged very well with the music. Thank you for uploading this video! :-)
Man I'm still watching it since i was a child
I remember this as being a remarkable show for it's complete coverage of life there as well as making it as believable as your neighbors here.
The grove back creatures face for some reason was always like my sisters face Deb 😂
Music: The Corrs - Silver Strand
Wayne Barlowe was the true master designer behind the world of Darwin IV and all of it's creature, this video should give him all the credits he deserves.
I remember when I was a kid and found that vid by accident on my parents old pc while roaming on internet lol
I didn't even spoke english at that time xD but that vid so great tho
Man I'm feeling so nostalgic right now you have no idea 😄 Feels damn good watching that vid again it gave me so many sweet memories
Again, great video man. So is the second tribute too!
God I remember watching this back in 2011 being 11 myself which got me listening to the corrs, ended up listening to silver strand again a few days ago and knew I had to come back here.
I used to think watching Alien planet was a fever dream. Glad it wasnt
I dont think i've seen video so well tied in with music like this before. The music is so unbelievably perfect for it!!!
Ah yes, I remember this video. It's what got me into hearing about Alien Planet a long time ago.
Ah if only, saw the movie and i thought it was great. I know life exists out there somewhere
Very creative but it seems like these organisms are adaptations from earth-like creatures: quadripeds, aves and all that. One theory is that life on other planets may not be carbon-based (sulfur seems to be the main bet), how would such a thing even look. Would it matter? On this planet we've got every texture imaginable from mucoid leeches to fluffy bunnies, yet all are carbon-based. Is it possible that we find things that make the line between life and inanimacy even finer? Genuinely interested to hear some opinions.
+DavidsonLoops That makes alot of sense, our whole evolutionary proccess is carbon based, so some things we saw out therw wouldnt even make sense. still, they wouldnt be so off.
I have a short opinion.I think these organisms don't produce energy by oxygen because,as you said, they are probably not carbon-based lifeforms(or maybe?)
DavidsonLoops, I believe that for life to be based around a certain element, that element needs to be able to form a LOT of chemical bonds. Carbon bonds often, forming the complex chemical structures for proteins and other organic compounds that eventually developed into the right biochemicals/amino acids necessary for cells to form from out of the soupy mess of proteins. If any other element could bond/develop into amino acids, it would most likely be phosphorus, knowing that it is capable of forming complex chemicals such as arsenic, which might be a part of alien biochemistry on other planets. Phosphorus generally is able to bond with many other elements and could potentially be the base element for alien DNA on, say, Proxima B or some other theoretically habitable world
In addition, perhaps organisms could consist of a super-thick puddle of liquid, using digestive chemicals similar to our stomach acids to break down its food and do the rest of the nutrient-absorption process where it disperses the nutrients across the cell-soup to each cell, and electric signals could be exchanged through a cluster of neurons in the center of the liquid or gelatinous mass, being the only solid part of its body, while its respires by absorbing some random vital gas in the atmosphere (based on its chemical makeup and the planet's atmospheric makeup), then lowering its body temp. to allow a liquid version of the gas to spread through the mass to the rest of its body, then "exhaling" by sending bubbles of waste gases to rise out of the jello alien. Similar to the Amoebic Sea in the Alien Planet docufiction
Its highly possible that the Darwin 4 species just practiced convergent evolution on a world different, but similar in many ways to Earth. I mean, hexapodal species aren't really a thing here because its just extra biomass that, in return, cost much more to do something as simple as moving around. But what isnt touched much by the documentary but in the book (that it was based on) is highly clear on about are the abundance of gaseous creatures, species that use gas as buoyancy and movement (in Alien Planet we see skewers and eosapiens as the exceptions), and the fact that almost every Darwin 4 species use echolocation as a means of 'visual' detection.
Otherwise, I think that Alien Planet really captured the idea of a realistic xenobiome, because it doesnt go all the way to the extreme to make aliens SEEM alien, and yeah some species are indeed inspired by Earthly creatures, but anything similar and organic to our world will most likely develop certain evolutionary aspects, like legs and organs to sense their environment.
Finally, a tribute that doesn't have loud obnoxious death metal.
Hi everyone! This video has been a great influence for me, and my memories. It always brings back the nostalgia. However, there were another video, which i m struggling to find the music for. It was the one presenting creatures from ,,the Future is wild" . If anyone had any info about the song played there, it will be greatly appreciated! thanks
Discovered the songs! They were Yanni - keys to imagination and Yanni - never too late
Dinosaurs, Space Exploration, Aliens, FUTURE ANIMALS!!! Your channel has everything that ever made up my imagination juice.
Joder que recuerdos los extraño esos tiempos me quede con ganas de más cuando mire y termine antes de irme al colegio
That was really one of the best videos i have seen. Really awesome video!
I hoped Alien Worlds from Netflix will successor.
No, it was waste compared to this.
Really nice work with this. I usually detest the crappy music that people insist on adding to videos, but this is quite lovely and works well with the vid. Awesome job.
nostalgic, i just remembered this out of the blue ;D
They should make more documentaries like this. There’s tonnes of speculative evolutionary projects that can be made into stuff like this. Nereus, Snaiad, Wallace 2, Serina, or the Speculative Dinosaur project world
And imagine what they would look like with modern CGI! If they got enough funding that is. I'd donate!
@@amfvideos6810 I’d want Jon Favreau to be involved, seeing how spectacular Prehistoric Planets cgi was
Kudos to the artist who conceived these creatures and to the person who put together this video!
Human can survive there?
I love this video!
Eat the gummy water
@@frostbitetheannunakiiceind6574 the creatures are nightmare fuel tho gosh...
I watched this when I was six years old and I’ve been trying to find it for a while. thank god I found it.
alien has family so happy
This continues to be one of my most favorite videos in all of UA-cam.
Well done.
This masterpiece shoud have a remake with new generation graphics.😢
I was 8 years old when I first saw this documentary on discovery, this is sooo nostalgic!
One thing I really love with this show is that the creatures actually feel believable, I've always found that big-head thin-bodied alien stereotype pretty ridiculous (I do love Elvis in Perfect Dark, though XD).
These creatures are so much more logical and look like they have adapted to their environment.
Creatures-Colossal.
Imagination-Incredible.
Absoultely Amazing Animation.
Oh my god the nostalgia!
Holy I know this ain’t the original but I saw this video so long ago maybe like 8 years ago and for the past 20 mins since I woke up this morning I’ve been looking and now I have finally found it
I love this video
a good portion of the reason i come here is the sound quality is 10x better than their video. But your video is outstanding as well and goes so well with the music.
Pretty Catchy😁
Very cool and imaginative. I'd let my kids watch this over and over agin. Keep up the great work.
Whatever that bat thing is with the spikes is, That's my favorite, Awesome vid man
i still love this documentary
This video has always scared yet intrigued me
This is lovely. Everything fits so well together.
Dude i just have to say i'm relly impressed!!! awesome job you did, i relly enjoyed it!!! Thank You!
remember watching this when i was 8 (I'm 14 now) and i just spent half my day trying to find it... :) it was worth it though!! Great video.
remember when this type of videos were kings of youtube?
I remember... before youtube starts to cut off everything with copyright issues. most videos i made were shut down.
@@lemaro1977 damn back when people could broadcast themselves without getting bullied by big corporations
This really was a brilliant production. I remember being blown away the fist time I watched it on TV. It was made much more believable by the common genetic traits among the species (lack of eyes, bioluminescence).
It makes me sad knowing I won't live to see the day when we get our first real view of an ecosystem on an extrasolar planet.
this is inspiring in many way's, I've watched this about 20 times and it never gets old I love your work
I love this music
It's my favorite in my childhood 💕
I still can't stop watching this in 2017..thank you dad for showing this video to me :)
Love it so much whatched about... 16 times its that good ! well done mate
IM gonna cry :-') best video EVER !!!! how did u make such a coool creative video?!
What a wonderful choice of music, beautifully surrealistic.
I remember seeing this, full length, years ago. It struck me then and it still reminds me of the quote, "The Universe is not only strange as we can imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine!" I love that sentiment and find it thrilling and exciting.
