Foreigners like to congregate to do their shopping, eating or banking services. Filipinos go to Lucky Plaza, Thai at Golden Mile Complex at Beach Road, Myanmar nationals go to Peninsula Plaza, Indonesians go to City Plaza, Chinese nationals go to Geylang or Chinatown, Indians go Little India and Japanese used to go Liang Court and probably Great World now.
@@csy897 There has been quite a number of Koreans moving into my area (Bukit Panjang). Used to hear Korean kids playing downstairs before the whole Covid situation.
@@NupplesRampage Ohhh yea cus the Singapore Korean International School is near there. Koreans are living everywhere now I think. There are so many of them. But they seem to only "go out" to those 3 places. Unless you're a Korean tai tai and you wanna lim kopi with your friend at the nearest mall.
Adobo pork is dark soya sauce base with cinnamon stick, bay leaves, star anise, black pepper and vinegar .. kind of like lor bah in hokkien .. this is signature dish for Filipinos , also come in chicken, kangkong, etc ..
You should have gone to the food court, more choices. And i would recommend Tapa King for their beef tapa. Or the fatty pork adobo, longganisa (pork sausage), beef caldereta (stew) or tocino (sweet marinated pork) from other stalls.
I would recommend Inasal store on the 4th floor at Lucky Plaza. It is the nicest Sisig that I have eaten here in Singapore. They have variety of Authentic Filipino food. Take it from someone that comes from the Philippines...
Ghib should probably check out Orchard Towers some time... 😁😁 On a serious note, besides the many great recommendations by the others here, maybe Queensway Shopping Centre some day too? Cheap sportswear and the laksa and curry chicken is SO amazing!
Love this feature!! I miss Filipino food. Good choice on the bicol express. It's my favourite too. Barrio Fiesta literally means "town feast." Both words are Spanish from the colonial times. Such feasts are still being held in towns in the Philippines to this day, and Filipino households usually cook several dishes to eat with white rice (similar to the array of dishes you chose from in the resto).
When I was in Singapore thirty years ago, during my off day, I spent only five dollars, my lunch, snacks and soft drinks. Then we go sentosa for swimming.
If you were to visit lucky plaza before the pandemic ,it will be a totally different feel..more mysterious and sketchy like what you were expecting..and much much more crowded.
Mang Juan is a "vegetarian" version only though (that's why it's so cheap) but it's pretty good too. The real pork Chicharon sold in the Philippines are more delicious (but unhealthy)
For the snacks, i think u missed out the ones that are 50 cents at 0:49. those are legit pinoy snacks. im a singaporean chinese and my pinoy colleagues introduced those corn snacks to me and i must say, once u start eating them u cant stop.
My parents own a shop on the 4th floor in Lucky Plaza as well and when I showed them this video, they were chuckling at the uncle from Barrio Fiesta because they're friends, what a small world 😂 but it's nice to see that you're helping to promote their shop during this covid period! :D Next time, you should definitely come again and try one of my favourite dishes, Giniling (ground pork). XD!
Hey ghib I have a place to suggest for you you can go to sunshine plaza at bencoolen St and the wonton noodles there is my favorite, there's also a few gunpla/model kit shop
irvins chips are selling at markup price there and quite a few shops selling them. I went there for Jolly Bee. There are some shops that looks questionable there.
wow! It's good that you like Philippine food and our snacks. :) Even if I'm Filipino living in Singapore too, I rarely visit Lucky Plaza, but whenever I like eating pinoy food, this is the best place to go.
In your country what do they call a domestic helper ? And in singapore do they have an japanese domestic helper just curious lol . This is the store i always buy from always food is good staff's are friendly & polite and always welcoming .
It's pronounced Mang Hwan, not mang juwan. Juan is Spanish if you did not know since we were colonized by Spain for 300 years. Great video by the way keep it up, from Philippines 🇵🇭
I use to stayed there for 4 years, I dont like the cuisine, its either too salty, too sweet or too sour. I had to do my own cooking. However, Filipinos are good at making snacks. I love the mangoes!
plus fried...I kinda agree...but the reason is because they are meant to be eaten with maximum rice using minimum viand (肉/菜) to save on cost. 3rd world culture I guess. Although the higher end restaurants in Manila and other touristy spots should be better quality.
Ghib: DO NOT buy any camera gear there. They are well known scammer shops there. If you need to know the local "trusted" shops let me know.

I hope he sees this and visits all of them!

Try the yong tau foo at the 6th floor of Lucky Plaza next time. Their meatball and mushrooms are amazing

I chose that stall because the owner had a friendly face! I'll try the food court some day!

わーい🙌 ラッキープラザ大好き‼️オーチャードにあるのに、カオスな雰囲気がたまりません❤️
Best filipino food I tried in SG was kare kare in Leslie's cafe in North Bridge Road. Superb flavour plus an amazing beef soup side.
It's bicol express and it's pink because of the shrimp paste

Sonia no, the en-bloc fell through. Sportslink closed, but the place is here to stay for now.

thanks for featuring Philippines in your channel.ありがとうございます!
i love Japanese way of speaking. so polite. Most Philippine food are bit salty. That's why most of our food serves with rice
Since u like spicy food, u should try the Indonesian fried chicken at Ria. Their free flow chillies are so good. Go with the classic avocado milk too.

Hi 👋 sir thanks for feature our food nice video I give you a big thumbs up
Gibsan..... Go try JOLLIBEE... the chicken are the best!!!
Jollibee are from the Philippines.
Should make a weekly segment of trying out cuisines of the different groups in singapore

that pork is pink because of the shrimp paste. fresh shrimp paste are usually pink in color
ラッキープラザ懐かしい🎵

the chicharron ni man juan is actually pork skin / pork crackling. its a filipino delicacy. i tried it in manila before. delish!

@@chita-eyy omg always wanted to try chicharon! Do they sell it in singapore?
It's shrimp paste that gives the Bicol Express the pinkish color
Thanks for the clarification!

You didn’t say ji pun lang lai liao at the start of the video!
Kare-Kare next time - oxtail in peanut satay with shrimp paste. All my first time Pinoy food eaters love it!

There are many good affordable food if you explore around the island.
Try rabbit brand seafood delicacies under $10 . #02-114 .bring your family . Close on Sunday.
I've always wanted to try Filipino food but never had the chance - seeing you eat their version of cai fan made me want to visit that place!
You missed out on Munchers, Boy Bawang, lechon, sisig, and that Indonesian crispy duck restaurant.
You missed the shop called Rabbit! They serve the best seafood for affordable price!
Ghib! Try Max's Restaurant in Far East Plaza!
I haven't been to Lucky Plaza for quite a while... I have tried the Lechon in the basement food court before .... Pretty good actually...

I normally eat in that Barrio Fiesta in Lucky Plaza.
Singapore have many states within a state scattered all over the island. You should know where to find it.
Bicol express as your first taste in Filipino food packs quite a distinct punch.
