- Just as we saw the demand for publication of caste-based data subside, a 22-year-old youth belonging to the Patel community in Gujarat burst into the scene demanding that Patels be included in the OBC (Other Backward Classes) list. Hardik Patel created a stir by gathering lakhs of Patels for the cause and by issuing a firm warning to the government of a continuous agitation if demands were not met. Vice President Hamid Ansari, highlighting the plight of Muslims also demanded affirmative action for the community but stopped short of demanding any reservation. Is reservation the only tool for the marginalised, backward communities for empowerment? Is it more of a political path of expressing the plight and might of your community to be recognised as a homogenous votebank? What about doing away with reservations at the IITs and IIMs? Finally, should reservation be determined by caste or religion? Should social and economic empowerment be the only criteria?

What is the relation of reservation and low cut off ?
People says that people scoring 90% are jobless and people scoring 40% are getting job.Remove this low cut off ,increase this cut off so that all have to score high.

+Bijoy Chakraborty i support reservation out of compulsion as upper castes support casteism and practise it wherever possible. i know reservations compromise merit but merit has been compromised for past 5000 years and special reservations were enjoyed by upoer castes for 5000 years. they fail to realise this and want to continue with this ancestral legacy. mindset of upper castes must change which will help in actually bringing social equality than reservations. if upper castes give up on casteism we giveup on reservations.

what Prof. Chopra spoke is a reality. I have seen some of my friends hating education even if they manage to pass out from IIT. They feel ashamed of many things and lacks the confidence of not able to compete. There are also some of my friends who grasp how to compete and study for the exams and make a good career but still, the majority of students lack.
its true. in fact IITs run bridge courses. If students of reserved category fail to show even the minimum competence but have to be admitted because seats are to be filled. Then these students are given special preference and taught at the govt's cost, mind you not their cost but with public money and then admitted for the degree course. And these students usually are from good economic and social backgrounds. Their parents have decent jobs, education and social status. How can any system justify such preference where quality educational institutes are so limited for a very large population.
A general category student is not given education even when he is meritorious and a reserved category student gets education even when he lacks merit and given subsidized education when he can afford it. Then there is nothing wrong in general caste students asking for reservation. Because there is no other way they can compete in this system.

More anti-reservation arguments by propenents of barbaric Manusmriti..Fundamental basis for reservations are.
1. Take the poverty among castes..its highest in SC/ST and BC.. Forward castes own more than disproportionate wealth. Brahmin enjoyed free housing in Temple properties in agraharam and possess most temple kattalai lands. Varnasharam system only educate brahmins. So is there a level playing field? NEVER!
2. Learning environment is not available to underprivileged SC/ST and BC compared to privileged castes. Also most of the SC/ST and BC live in Rural India and severly handicapped in terms of quality education and exposure to developments and advancements. UNEVEN SOTUATION.
3. In a uneven playing field reservation is a must. More than 90% of jobs were taken by 10% of the privileged population. Then how to ensure equality and social justice...
4. I am surprised how selfish we as a society and we lost social perception. We are not bothered to grow together as a nation.
5. Let us touch our conciousness and ask the almighty to guide us to treat all Indians equally and share and uplift all together.
6. EVR PERIYAR fought for Antidiscrimation, and social justice and fought for reservations..in Tamil Nadu which is successful. Now we can see Tamil SC/BC ARE EMPLOYED in the USA and everywhere . There is no reservation in the USA for SC/BC.
7. The top schools and colleges are managed by Christian missionaries. Most of these educational institutions are managed by the the SC/ST and BC and most of the so called elites were taught by these underprivileged people. Those teachers were treated hither to either as untouchabkes are sudras but they could teach all of us and make us good educated citizens.
8. Merit is conveniently abused. If opportunity is given to all of them, everyone has the inherent merit that needs exposure to an enabling environment and thats what reservations are all about. Let us stop all these selfish cry against reservations. Let us help to enable all of us to grow together to make India the Great!!!

मेरे पास एक सबसे बढ़िया उपाय है रिजर्वेशन ख़तम करने का . ब्राहमणों ने हजारो साल तक sc/st/obc (बहुजनो) को शिक्षा, बेसिक सुविधा, संपत्ति रखनेका के अधिकारों से वंचित रखा. अब ब्राह्मण, और अप्पर कास्ट वालो को अगले २० साल तक सिर्फ शिक्षा से वंचित रखा जाए. 20 साल 3000 सालो के मुकाबले ज्यादा नहीं है. और अगले 20 साल तक कोई इस नियम का उल्लंघन करे तो उसे 100 कोड़े मारने की शिक्षा का अमल किया जाना चाहिए. और 20 साल बाद किसी भी रिजर्वेशन के मांग को जायज ना ठहराया जाए. सहमत है तो शेयर करे.

The solution for this is seperate technical , professional colleges for Dalits. No dalit should go to upper caste college. Dalit should be provided seperate college.
