Only the '56 is for sale, by the way... One should always have one Recording cornet on hand!
A special shout out to Quinn for the Olds '66 Recording Cornet! Super fast shipping, very clean horn, and it's always a pleasure to buy from you! www.brassandwi...
And to Clay at CenTex Brass for the Olds Super Cornet (what a superb horn!). Clay usually has a great selection of Olds horns, and HE KNOWS OLDS (& more) centexbrass.com
What's the diff between a '56 and '66 Olds Recording? Two major differences: 1) The leadpipe, and it is long, is bronze on the '56 - and nickel-silver on the '66. 2) The trigger adjusts the third valve intonation on the '56, - but on the '66 the trigger was moved and it ajdusts the entire horn because it's attached to the bell. Trust me - these two differences are fairly major. Slides are interchangeable, so there aren't too many other great differences, and these are BOTH tremendous players. :) Played with 4 different mouthpieces (noted below) with special appearances by a '64 Olds Super Cornet AND a '54 Olds Studio Cornet.

Isn't it nice to have a good vintage horn? Sometimes I sit and look at mine and think, 'How many hands have held this horn? How many hours of practice and performance??' I do enjoy vintage horns. :) Thanks for commenting!

Aaron, thank you. Those GR Cornet pieces are really impressive. I need to get one of those deeper cups made into a trumpet mouthpiece. They are nice. Thanks for commenting!
