    Kudos for showing that things don't always work out as fast. Showing the struggles with stubborn parts instead of quick editting to the end.

    Thank you 😎 your video helped my son and I put on new rotors and pads on our 83 K5 blazer, and clean and regrease the hub innards. The rotors we bought had the lugs and hub cradle already; no press needed; albeit much more expensive. Had we watched before buying everything, could have used the saved $ to buy a 12-ton press! We were going crazy trying to remove the oil seals to get inner bearings out of old rotors, your video led us to "Performance Tool Seal Puller - W1219" at Oreilly's. Having the right tool made it easy.

    I learned the hard way not to mix grease types. It could harden and damage bearings. Be sure to do like Mike and start fresh or get all of the old grease complete out first.

    It's Project Farm where you got the grease info.
    Today to replace calipers, rotors, seals, grease, and pads on the front only it would be $300 easy.
    The only stuff I would have replaced if I took it all apart are the seals and the lug studs. I wouldn't have replaced anything on that rig actually, and simply cleaned, inspected and greased the brake caliper pins and their female counterparts to see if that solved the brake functions.
    I have an 87 GMC V1500 and it's white also but soon will be burnt orange. I just use it for tooling around town doing chores and errands.

    Nice video. Make sure you put a lot of grease on both sides of your brake pads, so not only does it not squeak, but you slide right through intersections. Great video.

    Nicely done. Great, no-nonsense video with good explanations. I’d ask you to consider some various camera mounts (to help your hand-free in tight spots) so you can bring us more fine content. And keep using my favorite measurement here in Oklahoma…”shit-ton.” I also you “shit-rick.” Cuz like a rick of wood it turns out to be quite a bit more than you thought once you’re about pecker-deep into stacking it.

    Ever experience perfectly working breaks an pulling to one side after changing the pads? Changed the pads an when doin so I used a clamp an old pad to push the caliper pistons in. Now they pull to the right when i hit the breaks. Bled the breaks an didn't change anything. The calipers an lines was replaced about 7 years ago, could be one of those but 7 years isn't that old i wouldn't think, maybe tho. Hit the breaks an pulled perfectly straight till swapping pads. On my 84 k15.

      I had that problem with a stuck piston in an old Monte Carlo that pulled to the opposite side. I would suspect that the caliper on the non-pulling side maybe has a stuck piston. Will the wheel spin when the brake is applied?

    • @johnmilner6463
      @johnmilner6463 Рік тому

      I’m guessing you got them in but the people that didn’t. Put the stud through…rub some grease on 6 or so washers on the threaded side.. then run a lug nut on and pull it through till it’s seated… hopefully that made sense

      It should be a dana 60 or dana 44. I believe the hub parts are interchangeable. I would just recommend keeping everything in order as you take it apart.

      @@fultonsgarage6331 well it was the outer nut, once I got it off after 25 years I found no washer which would be the reason it was so stuck. The driver side was complete every piece was there, however the passenger side was missing the lock ring and nut washer.
