Welcome to another captivating episode of the MUET Career Canvas podcast series, hosted by Miss Momina. Today, we are privileged to welcome Dr. Shahnawaz Talpur, the Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering at MUET Jamshoro.
Dr. Shahnawaz Talpur, a distinguished alumnus of Mehran University with bachelor's and master's degrees, completed his PhD studies at a prestigious university in China. He proudly highlights the Department of Computer Systems Engineering's ranking among the top 50 departments globally and advises students to consider long-term scope when selecting their academic paths.
Host Momina queries Dr. Shahnawaz about the department's facilities, to which he responds with assurance, detailing the availability of highly qualified faculty, state-of-the-art lab equipment, and ample resources for students' needs.
Dr. Shahnawaz underscores the broad spectrum of opportunities available to computer engineering graduates, including roles in software development and manufacturing companies. He further discusses the department's provision of practical opportunities such as mini projects, exhibitions, and competitions to enhance students' skills.
Regarding eligibility criteria, Dr. Shahnawaz notes that students from pre-engineering backgrounds are eligible for admission, emphasizing the significance of MUET transcripts abroad.
Highlighting internship and freelancing opportunities, Dr. Shahnawaz mentions that a significant percentage of computer systems engineering graduates pursue master's degrees in Europe, with ample scholarships available for skilled and hardworking students.
When asked about the way forward after bachelor's and master's degrees, Dr. Shahnawaz mentions various options including job opportunities, PhD research programs, and teaching positions.
In conclusion, Dr. Shahnawaz delivers a motivational message to students, encouraging them to make informed decisions and pursue their aspirations with determination.

Mama your interview is a breath of fresh air. Your authenticity and support for individuality are truly commendable. Thank you for being a positive influence not just in your family specially on me, but also for those who come across your words.
Love you Mama
Allah Bless You More. Amen
Sir Shahnawaz Sahab is an amazing person, a very humble, down-to-earth, cooperative and kind-hearted man.
The great personality dear sir Prof. Dr. shahnawaz talpur sb ❤️
Interview was very inspiring for us 😊😊
IT, CS, SW in field me aaane se pahle Khudara Matric me Computer Subjects zaror pick up karen ya apne bachon ko karwayen, ya koi basic level ka computer course hi kar len, Dosri aham baat ye k In fields me Maths aur Coding ka beshumar usage hai to Agr Apki in per grip nahi ya aesa mind nahi to plz don't jump into these fields.
Apka hardware ki side bohot ziyda shoq ho aur jack of all trades hon to hi computer systems me aayen, otherwise software hi uthayen, reason ye hai k Computer Systems me Electronics, Electrical, aur Hardware k subjects k ilawa Communication k b subjects hote hain, to apka focus aur expertise divide ho jayenge, kisi aek me ap expert nahi ban payenge, to is se achha hai software side hi jayen, wahan mostly focus aek hi cheez, domain per rahega to usme expert b banenge.
Last but not the least, Unfortunately humare haan itna practical work specially hardware side koi achha intezam nahi hota, hota hai to Teachers thek se teach nahi kar paate ya students thek se learn nahi kar paate, even khud teachers software wali chezen recommend kar rahe hote hain, to ye chezen mind me rakhiyega specially w.r.t MUET.
Have you done comp sys eng ?
what about Computer Science degree? is it the same?
@@sibghatbaloch There are the few differences between Computer Systems Engineering and Computer science domains. CSE involves PEC certification, you become registered Engineer while CS degree is only HEC certified. CSE involves both hardware and software but mainly focuses on Hardware side along with Electrical and Electronics engineering Subjects, but CS doesn't explore these things that much deeper. CSE is basically about studying how actually computer hardware and technology works at circuit level, how computer and its components and technology is manufactured, its the study of algorithms working but CS focuses more on their concepts and direct applications. If someone just wants to know this field on surface level without deeply knowing technology behind it, its manufacturing etc then he should opt CS, but if someone wants to dive in this field and know things deeply, then he should go for CSE. This was field-wise opinion.
As far as MUET or Pakistan is concerned, you must know few things: There is not that much practical learning regarding hardware here, even teachers suggest go for this and that programming language, So you wouldn't get that much practical knowledge regarding hardware. In the pakistani job marketplace, currently there can be seen more opportunities regarding software field. So in CSE, neither you would be an expert of software subjects nor hardware properly, better is to go for software. Yes, you can also be the expert of hardware and get good jobs but for that you have to do more struggle as compared to software engineers. That's my personal analysis and opinion, which can be right or wrong, its not absolute for everyone, so you must explore all these points before taking a decision.
@@majiskani amazing! Thanks alot man. Now i can decide with ease. jazakAllah.
and one more thing: They say there is no scope in CS/SE in future because AI is gonna take over, therefore think a hundred times before picking these fields for BS. I know good programmers will always be in need but this thing really concerns me.Abhi tou scope hai but in next 10 years things are gonna be different. My relatives are telling me to pick AI or Cyber security instead but I'm more into Software engineering and stuff.
@@sibghatbaloch Aesa kuch nahi, AI k peeche mainly Machine Learning, Deep Learning aur Data Science hain, To Ye Sub-fields kis ki hain?? To ye Kese ho skta hai k Computer Science/Engineering ya Software Engineering ka scope na hoga? AI ko program karne aur banane k liye b to Log chahiyen na.
AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, Blockchain ye No doubt Future hain, lekin ye Computer Field ki sub-domains hain, specialisation ki trh hain....agr apke pass already computer field k fundamentals clear hain, basics clear hain, Diploma ya Courses kiye bethe hain Yane aek achhi knowledge hai to phir direct aek sub-field chose karna thek rahega. Lekin Agr Ap is field me bilkul new hain to Pahle Aek General Degree like CS/CSE ya SW karna aur Phir Specialization me Aek particular sub-field pick up karna would be better.
Baqi Han In Future, Scope in chezon ka Barhne wala hai:
Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning......Networking and Cyber Security, IoT......Blockchain aur Uski Appications like Crypto, NFTs, Web 3.0 and Metaverse
