The fact that it’s a two year deal with an option of a 3rd year shows the decision makers have learned from mistakes of last season which is good. Or does it show us that it’s now different people making the football decisions. Could be both.

As a Chelsea fan - I agree with Jan. The club has been a mess for a long time - it's not realistic to immediately expect trophies next season. It might even be difficult to get CL qualification that soon. Top 6 perhaps - but the soul has been ripped from the squad recently. It needs NEW leaders to step forward and that's going to take time. It's a different era to the last 20 years. But I trust Poch. I think and hope he's a great signing

CFC are in the midst of a nine year cycle of UCL wins, a six year cycle of Europa league titles (due to occur next in 2024/25) and a 6 year cycle of Premier League titles that ended and restarted under the new ownership. You can sprinkle in the cups and shields, and limited access invitational events if you’d like, but those three title comps are the big ones and I think it’s not a Bridge too far to think a CL title in 7 years, a PL title in 5, and Europa next year. Heck, we don’t even have to be 5th or 6th to qualify. Just win the FA Cup and Bingo, Bango! Wheels will be in motion

Poch hasnt won the Champions League or any European trophy after all this time.
    He has No European Pedigree.
Neither has he won the Premier League or La Liga title.
Furthermore, the man managed a bitter rival of Chelsea in Spurs.
Its a huge gamble because he aint some serial winner like Mourinho or Pep or Ancelotti, managers with proper pedigree, managers that Command Respect from the get go.
He has to deal with elite players who have won much more than him in the game. Players with European and International Pedigree on the World Stage.
Winners with Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, World Cup tournament titles already in the bag. He has to address this first. He has to grab the bull by the horns. There's no running away from this. Why should they listen to him and follow his lead when he has crashed out of the Champions League multiple times, havent won the Premier League or any of the big titles that they have won so far? Why should they go along with someone who hasn't been to the promised land unlike them, achieving honours and glory??
He either brainwashes them, convinces them, leads them to the promised land again, to more glory, more titles, targets they have yet to achieve or they gonna figure him out and throw him under the bus sooner or later.
    He has to dictate.
He has to command the dressing room.
He has to let everyone know in there whose The Boss, layeth down The Law or else he's finished.
Everybody has to be on board with his way or else he's out.
The drama kings have to be sorted out, cut out.
He's either gonna be a hero or end up being a villain.

I'm not sure if Mauricio Pochettino is the right manager for the Chelsea team. He was their best option available for the job but is he right for the project. Other than getting Tottenham to a champions league final, he's done nothing outside of that because before taking over as PSG manager a team that wants to win the champions league, he had no major trophies and the PSG project was too much for him and while he got an obvious Ligue 1 title he still couldn't get PSG over the line in the champions league. Chelsea has to rebuild the squad and clear out the deadwood big time because they have too many players and they have to get shipped out this summer dealing with a big squad, it's difficult for any manager and that's why Chelsea needs to ship players out in the summer and he has to decide who he counts on next season and who he signs. He needs to be backed by Todd Boehly if not and the results don't improve, this Chelsea project will take longer and longer for them to finally click because patience is the key to getting the team back on track and for a long project to work out as well.

Pochettino never won any major trophies the only time was when he was at PSG which he did win the league and the cup but lets be honest most managers can do that with the squad they have so as far as I am concerned he is not a proven winning manager so he needs to prove it outside of PSG so at the moment I dont get the hype for him on the bright side he does have a good track record of developing talent and playing good football so hopefully he can use Chelsea funds to make Chelsea a competitive team and win titles since Chelsea right now is a mess.

Saying that nobody in football club history has spent 600 million pounds in a 6 month time frame and finished 12th before, arguably the most embaressing season for any football club in european history to have spent that much money and achieve absolutely nothing.

Jan, buddy. Why would you try and call out the Chelsea fans on Twitter for unreal expectations? They are the embodiment of unreal expectations. Without unreal expectations you can’t have irrational overreactions. You’re talking to people whose whole identity is enmeshed in the failure and success of an entity that they have no control over. They gloat about the clubs successes while playing no role in them and suffer devastation over the clubs failures even though they have no culpability.
And the wild swing back-and-forth makes them desperate to the point of believing that the club not only exists to elevate them, but it owes them to do so. I was it to them. They feel like their inability to cope with football match result means the club owes them and so they demands that the club make good on it. Think of them as Twitter ultras. Take all of the elements that go into the various football ultra cultures and put them into an iPhone6 and you can begin to understand. They’re hyper aggressive, but also cowardly and best left to bashing each other in running street battles.. But if they try to come after legitimate supporters, you gotta bring the Knollsy energy.

I have a feeling this is gonna be another one that doesnt work out. Long term managers and Chelsea never work. They have never been a club to appoint long term managers. Theor philosophy has always been about winning and winning now. History proves this isnt gonna work. Pochettino is a good manager but not a good fit for Chelsea. I'm not saying this just becuase is supoort Spurs but the reason he did well with us is because suited what our club was about.
