ive read there was a guy that would come around jimis studio with all kinds of new sound gadgets or electronics, always had something, all different kinds of things ... guy was really good at that specific point in time ..
The word, "legend", is thrown around too easily but Roger is a real legend of the music industry. Thank you for this interview, Guitar Village. I have been using Roger's Voodoo Vibe and then the Plus model for about 25years and it is still my favourite pedal. Thank you Mr Mayer.
This is so good! Another note. I always wondered who Jimi' live guitar tech was on tour. You see him in videos behind his cabinets keeping them from falling over. Tall long haired dude. Anybody know who he is?
Thanks for such a great interview, revealing so many sides of Roger and his involvement that is soooo much more than the stompboxes. I loved what he said about Jimi's studio improvising, and that he was so centered on making music FUN to create. It makes total sense that Hendrix was burning through soooo much studio time, looking for just the right improvised solo, captured on tape
Hello Roger, thank you for your time and your knowledge. This might be a silly question, but My biggest question...please. What is Jimi's favorite amp settings. All his concert videos you see Jimi always messing with the amp controls between songs
6:05-7:00 This is where the pedal problem started - trying to replicate studio postproduction effects, “in your living room”. Professional recording studios produced on a “whole other level”, at times spending days just setting up the “finished” effects that appear on recordings. Now it’s expected from a “black box”?
Which are the input and output for my guitar and amp on the VV+? Just ordered this pedal and there isn't the usual in/out that you get on other effect pedals. Thank you people.
i play a 1969 lefty strat righty...the sound is total different than a regular rightystrat because the wood on the bass side is now less mass than on the treble side .making the high strings thicker sounding especially on the tilted bridge pickup. the bass strings which are now taylored down because of less wood mass are now effected by the control cavity under the vol and tone pots ..giving it tone...the high strings are shorter giving a quick bend responce and the long bass strings effect the bend responce on the bottom. totally different animal....
"THE LONDON TAKE ON AMERICAN R&B AND BLUES" launched the "British Rock craze". The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, John Mayall (which led to the formation of Cream) ALL studying Little Richard's stage shows, and playing American R&B and Blues covers before their original songwriting took off. THAT was the true irony of the massive popularity in America... BUT they were primarily American WHITE audiences. Blacks had old blues and R&B record collections buried by then, displaced by more modern "Soul" releases
This bloke is one of the foundation stones that Electric Guitar music was built on. He comes across as flippant but he is deadly serious about his art. He survived the 60s London music scene which left hundreds of freaked-out casualties so be cool.
Please thank Roger for agreeing to take our questions at a later date. We appreciate it so much!
Thanks for this !!!
@@paulkardoulias9547 Part 4 is almost an hour long and should be posted next week.

Rocket pedals are the best. Roger is a genius.
Thanks for your contribution, Mr. Mayer. I'm the proud owner of three rockets.

How did Roger go from Jimmy P to Jimi H without notice (0-20min)?
Can you release the audio of these so I can listen like a podcast at work?
The string length can't be right, because the guitars would be set for intonation, it wouldn't be different because the strings are upside down?
The string length past the nut is different :)
Brilliant, thank you so much, @@GuitarVillageFarnham

That guy talked an absolute load of crap about guitars themselves. Actually so much rubbish that it sounds like he has never even seen a strat.
“That guy”
Please get your coat…
