Hearing 50 Hz motors running having lived the vast majority of my life on a 60 Hz country sounds pretty interesting and ominous at the same time. It's also crazy to see how fast the drum spins. Ours here does up to 1400 RPM, when it goes max RPM you can hear it through the whole house as if some really REALLY deep bass is playing on an enormous subwoofer - since it basically becomes one producing a 23,3 Hz sound through rotational imbalance alone.
That's not a top load washing machine. This is a tumble style front loader modified to be loaded from the top. A top loader has the wash tub tilted 90 degrees to this with an agitator in the middle. It's a North American classic and for a long time, tumble washing machines were really only seen in laundromats, typically in their own little group near the top loaders. I use one big commercial unit to wash my winter gear each year at our local laundromat. Those are also bolted to the foundation there.
It's a german machine (the descriptions at the buttons are german). In Europe all washing machines, where you insert your clothes from the UPSIDE, are called top loader. You load from the top. Can you put your clothes from the SIDE? No? Then it's not a side loader. Simpe, right?
Here in the UK top loaders are really rare, most people have front loaders. I did have a machine like this for a short time though, it was kind of cool!
I’ve never seen anything quite like this before! Is a front-loader-style drum that’s loaded from the top normal in other countries? Cause here in the US, all we have is top loaders with vertical drums and front loaders with horizontal drums. This is a neat combination of the two, though!
I was surprised at the way the drum was situated also... I guess this would be like an apartment sized washer? the newer full sized ones that wash and dry the clothes in the same machine, are really awesome! I could never afford one tho....but Kewl to hear about and see .......
There are no US-style top loaders in the EU because they are inefficient and don't work as well as vertical drum machines. The machine in the video is just a space-saving design. They are less common. There's also an obvious safety issue if you are willing to override all the lock mechanisms, as in this video.
The top loaders here in europe (especially germany) are engineered because not all people live in BIG houses or flats. You sometimes have flats with maximum of 35m². The bathing room or kitchen is quiet small and you have not the place to put a BIG washing machine in it. So this type of machine is mainly for the "poor" people with smaller houses. Not all houses have central washing rooms.
when the machine went into extract, I was expecting the doors on the drum to come open, and you would find your clothes in a neighbors tree 1/2 a block away 🤣 but ti did just fine 😀

Me: Mom I want an automatic cheese grater
Mom: We have this at home
Automatic cheese grater at home:
i kinda like the idea of these washers. it's a top loader but performs like a front load washer.
Its not really a good idea. Top loaders with agitators (dual action agitators are great) perform way better
@@GE1463 i've never used a top load washer. so far our front load washer is performing well
@@Kirby7601 Yeah if you live in the city and your clothes dont get very dirty at all then its fine, most people in the United States use top loaders
@@GE1463 i'm from the us too. it's kinda common to see top loaders since they are the cheapest
@@Kirby7601 True. A lot people in my area also use top loaders mainly because they are farmers (I live in kansas)
Drop a 10 pound block of cheese in the top while its spinning
Lol
I was expecting this to throw more water out the top somehow. It's remarkably polite.
This drum gives me flashbacks..
???
Cheese grater???
giant cheese grater
that was what i was thinking it is a cheese grater on the wheel
The thumbnail looks like the strangest CRT monitor I’ve ever seen

Had one similar to this in my rv camper. After washed, I had hung up wash on clothes line overnight.
imagine if it was the wheel as the top part and then you put it upside down…..
