Operation Market Garden was a bold and risky move by the Allies to end the Second World War by capturing the bridges leading to the lower Rhine. Launched in mid-September 1944, the operation deployed the legendary American 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions and the British 1st Airborne Division, some of the best combatants in the world.
