- To mix things up a bit this year, I ran the Backwards London Marathon and then the regular @TCSLondonMarathon, back-to-back! It was a fantastic day out, and I really enjoyed the contrast between running on the empty streets which were then utterly packed just a few hours later. As always, massive thanks to the volunteers and organisers for putting together one of the greatest races in the world!

Yes!!! The whole reason I make these videos is to encourage people to take on new challenges, so I’m *delighted* by this plan ❤. Let me know which race you pick - there are some great half marathons with really strong crowd support if that’s your thing 🎉
James, fair play - amazing! I’ve run London a couple of times but have also done event set up (putting up the big ‘Toblerone’ advertising hoardings on Tower Bridge, Cutty Sark and at the start. You’d often see people running it back to front coming into Red and Blue starts by about 8/9 am. The thought of then turning around and doing it again makes me a bit queasy! 😂😂

Thanks Mark! I wore Hoka Clifton 8 which I’ve been pretty happy with for a while but I’m looking to mix it up - may try the Nike Invincible 3 next, although concerned they may not be wide enough
Nice one. Hoka trail shoes are great for me, so there's a good chance the road shoes will be too 👍🏻cheers.

Hi!! I'm doing the same this year. Aiming for a slower first in about 5hrs with friends, then about 4:30 for the second. Any tips, lessons, things you'd do differently??
Ah you'll have a great experience! There's a large group that does the backwards run in the middle of the night rather than the early morning, and I expect it would be really fun to do it with them, but I aimed to get to the start with just enough time to change and turn right around so that I didn't get too cold, stiff, etc. If I was going to do it again I might give myself time for a McDonalds breakfast in between! The main thing to think about is carrying food and drink for your first leg, and I brought my drop bag in my pack so that I could drop it off and lose the extra weight for the second half. It is really easy to get lost in Canary Wharf because your GPS will be useless, so pay attention in that section :) Let me know how it goes!
@@runjamesrun cheers! There's a group of Bad Boy Runners doing it and we're setting off at 2am. Some are just doing the backwards, so they can take kit etc to save carrying it forwards. Really looking forward to it! 👍
