I grew up listening to the Goon show on the radio and later on the Telly Goons, Spike and Sellers always creased me with laughter and Spikes books on his wartime experiences are a literary goldmine. RIP Sir
If there is one thing UA-cam has done right it is to preserve and make available things like this. I grew up watching Spike, Harry and all the others. They were magnificent and we will never see their like again.
Brilliant. I remember him telling the story of the rusty bed springs but I thought it was later than this clip. Great stuff though. Thanks for posting.
Oh my, thank you for that ! I was feeling a little under the whether, by which I mean Life, and that did the trick ! What a glorious and forever unexpected man. Remember the night of his special BAFTA, the host, him and that audience ? When a message was read on behalf of the Prince of Wales, an old friend, and apologizing for not being able to be there our Milligan, whilst wiping laughing tears away interrupted ... ' the grovelling little bastard ' - how the room cracked, erupting, in laughter. Thanks so much ! Must dash, I have to see this bit on the Irish Olympics in flawless black and white. Bless the great Spike Milligan.
Has anyone got the one where he cracks up on the Diana Dors daytime show from the 70s………by far the best where he cracks up when the next guest is a fat lady who says its fine to be overweight, he takes one look at her and collapses. If I remember correctly it was a live show and had to go to an ad break.
