Amazing chapter. I can’t help but feel sad that we only have 3 more chapters till another hiatus. At least let’s enjoy these last 3 chapters to the fullest.
These new chapters do a great job of giving context to Chrollo's relationship to the other spiders. If these flashback chapters continue, I would like to see what led to the Phantom Troupe targeting the Kurta Clan and the subsequent mutilation of them to get their eyes.
Just because they had a tragic backstory doesn't excuse them for killing his clan, or the countless other atrocities they've committed. I feel for them, but they all deserve to die.
could they not have thought of sarasa when they were stabbing the children in the kurta clan in front of their parents? their only reason for doing all this seems to be to "protect" meteor city. but they didnt need to go this far
tbh he'd probably be even more disgusted by hearing them become murderers/terrorists after that and especially after realizing sheila could have joined them but didn't and ended up literally saving his life from her other friends.
Normally, as people love and are loved, they feel happiness. When I am hated by people, that is when I feel happiness. And then I want to tear apart and inflict unimaginable harm to the things I love. But is that really all that strange, I wonder? Parriston Hill quote Sheila/Parriston killed Sarasa
I actually don’t think we will see what is on the note but it was implied that it read: “Trash” I also do not believe the Kurta were in any way involved with the human trafficking. I don’t think Togashi is gonna do a reverse Uno card on the Kurta massacre. I think Chrollo PURPOSELY chose a PEACEFUL village and massacred them in a horrible manner as a message to the world that not only are the Spiders strong enough to wipe out an entire clan but that they are willing to commit atrocities against innocent people.
And them they murdered all the Kurta clan for their eyes It's so weird they got to that point, the Phantom Troupe we have and the flash back still seem so disconected. The end of this last chapter sets then up as Anti Heros, i think it should continue a little more to showcase when they turn into Vilains, murderous thiefs
It will definitely have something to do with Sheila. She probably tried to stop the troupe to save their souls but got damaged along the way and stumbled upon Kurapika and Pairo.
Chrollo mentions he's gonna unalive a lot of people so he's gonna become a villain. But yes I would love to see how they got to the point of becoming villains over taking vengeance.
@@digitalcthulhu143 he says that, but that still is setting him up to be a anti hero, not someone that goes around stealing anything he wants and killing anyone in his way for the sake of it
I see Sarasa's death as the straw that broke the camels back as the PT were tired of living in fear and in danger with no one to protect them or punish the aggressors. Remember that a villian doesn't need to be justified in their actions because obviously the PT aren't justified, they just need to be given a reason to turn to crime so we can understand what drove them to such an extreme. After all Sheila recognized that what they were doing was no justified and left. Chrollo saying we need to offer up our lives was probably him talking about the Sun and Moon incident. Now we just need to see if they find the people who killed Sarasa and why they massacred the Kurta.
Nice review man, It is really crazy to me, that they are accepting the fact that they are gonna live their lives becoming what they want to destroy... to become monsters and murders themselves, given the circumstances however Togashi handled this reasoning for it godlike
I wonder if we will ever find out what's on the note. I dont think we should ever know whats on the note. I'm wondering if not knowing helps build chrollos character? Like could finding out what it was ruin that element that togashi put in place by not letting anyone but chrollo know in the first place? Most likely a reveal will probably not live up to the effect hiding it had on some people. Hiding things allows readers to engage in the writing. It can never meet ever single readers imagination, and honestly recent manga communities love to overhype and shit and alway complain about the mangaka because they went to crazy with excitement.
I feel like we’re gonna go back to the present. We may get a couple panels, but I think nobungas flash back was there to show why they formed, and how they differ from hei lei group. Then again, with renko, or whatever the nen users name was, seems like there’s more story to be told between her and machi
If this was done by members of the red-eye tribe, this really could be full circle. Or maybe the massacre of the red-eye tribe is something they had to do to get close to them.
Wait, could this be why Chrollo decided to "spare" Gon and Killua during the Yorknew City arc? Chrollo knew full well that they were involved and even personally knew Kurapika, but when Gon asked him why they kill senselessly, almost for the fun of it, he seems to think a lot deeper. Didnt think much of it then, but this chapter proves Togashi had the troupes beginnings in his mind for a long time.
Togashi writes a lot of things ahead, and a lot of different things. And place everything. I don't remember exactly anymore but i heard about Togashi saying in one occasion that the Ryodan backstory was planned by the time of the Yorkshin arc, but it wasnt included because he didn't find the right moment to place it. Also the Kurapika backstory with Pairo was planned a long time ago (dunno if that long as well) but he never found a way to put it in the manga. So the promotion of the HxH movie gave him a reason to draw that as a separate (still canon) one shot chapter.
What I was truly sad about is they had to postpone the show indefinitely forever jk but for real we got the notorious tree but with a dear friend cut up in a freakin bag with a note filled to the brim of dread and despair how Chrollo speaks and feels after this makes moments/arcs before mean so much more also my favourite panel is all of them standing together with no background pledging to change the world in their own way could talk about this chapter for hours lol
Pakunoda can read minds, probably knows as well what Chrollo saw on the note. And that's probably contribute to her decision in the York New Arc. There's really a subtle similarities with that scenario with this.
Remember when she was thankful to Gon and Killua for not running away as they didn't want Pika to turn into a killer. How must she have felt? Only if she could be that friend to Chrollo and prevent him from moving on his vicious cycle of revenge only to become a mass murderer.
What makes you think Paku has the mind reading ability at that time? It was never stated anywhere, none of them even knew nen yet including Machi even though she saw Renko's aura.
@@user-tz4yj2bz8w Not at that moment, but probably later on. That's why she had a hard time on the York New Arc, cause she knew what Chrollo goes through...
she can also read memories from objects and chrollo saved the murder weapons so she probably first developed her power on them to see who actually killed sarasa
It's hard for me to explain to someone who watches a lot more anime than I do but has never seen HunterxHunter, and they will show me something like Tokyo ghoul and say man this is such a dark show isn't it I'm just like, thousand yard stare: Kinda...... I've seen worse. Like it's the kind of darkness that almost seems juvenile where it's just Gore and body counts to the point where it almost becomes like a grindhouse thing more so than something that's like seriously exploring the darkness of the human condition. I think what it is is the restraint inherent in it being a shonen so while he can show some bloody stuff it's not like it's a PG cartoon at the same time to gosh she knows that sometimes not showing you is even worse than showing you because your imagination will worse than anything he could ever show you
Yeah, we'll definitely see what the notes says, in his last breath along with Kurapika x hisoka. I hope these murderers have something to do with the Kurta clan so that way the spiders killed them all out of revenge and not just for tserriednich request. That way we can see a parallel between Kurapika x chrollo like we did with Meruem x Gon .
It would be an interesting twist if we find out the Kurta clan was affiliated with the kidnappers. Making Kurapika's people kind of being at fault for what happened.
You say the kurta clan as if the entire clan was responsible for kidnapping or murdering children. 5 years prior to their genocide they only had a 128 people. If they were involved it was a small number, maybe 2 at max and no one else knew of it. It wouldn’t be an excuse to commit genocide. I don’t think anything happening is cause for such behavior tbh
@@carlosg2680 I wasn't saying every single person there knew about it, it was more like the leaders or 1 of the leaders that was doing it behind the scenes. Also yes, for the phantom troupe it would be an excuse to kill them all. They (whoever was responsible) took something important to them. This is just an idea and is unlikely to happen btw
I’m torn on the chapter, I see the direction he’s going with this but is it more effective than leaving how they came to be a mystery to keep with the theme of Chrollo not knowing who he was or why he does what he does? Idk. I see some people say it would have worked better with him doing something drastic and i disagree. It would not have made Been necessary or very realistic. I think using the idea of that friend being the catalyst to get you to take action against this thing plaguing your community works better than Chrollo witnessing a slaughter. The slaughter would feel forced, cliche and too dramatic. I don’t think it was perfect but it was good enough.
It's curious how Machi was able to perceive the aura of Renko without even knowing nothing of nen but wasn't able to see the fake fortune made by Hisoka with Texture surprise, nevertheless this chapters have been amazing, the Phantom Troupe and especially Chrollo were my favorites already but this has only confirmed, Chrollo definitely is my favorite character of HxH
Texture Surprise is a Conjuration ability, so it looks the same even with Gyo. Only Bungee Gum, a Transmutation ability, can be seen with Gyo. Machi saw the embalmer's aura, which is always visible with Gyo.
I have absolutely no feelings for Chrollo, sure you could say he was only a kid when that happened but seeing what he’s become and the amount of death that he’s caused he’s just as bad as the people that hunter down sarasa
Man the chapter change so much how I see the phantom troope. despite the fact they were killer I always enjoyed them and their friendship. Now it make way more sense. gon kurapika kuroro and probably Tserriednich they all have this story of been change by the world so I just wonder what togashi had in plan for them. Also that explain why kuroro his call lucifer. he took the persona of the devil like a role
So Chrollo's endgame is to lure all the criminals and kill them? Sounds very Pain-like. How does this play into his belief in determinism and his battle with Hisoka?
For the first time in several years i read HxH for this chapter to see what the fuss was about and a villain origin story. While Tragic, its still not a real reason for the F.T. to be as fked up and murderous as they are. They should be against the establishment, gangs and the mafia that exploit Meteor City but.. they've been seen killing innocents or bystanders on more than one occasion. So no, I don't sympathize.
You will have to read the subtitles containing the same dialogue, unless you understand spoken japanese. Unless the anime is actually bad and cuts content, but i don't believe it. (Except the Kaito thing in episode 1 but probably that was the only time)
@@carlosaugusto9821 I'm fine with reading subtitles. HxH manga as it is now looks like an incoherent, jumbled mess. Any anime adaptation will have to parse all of the information on every page in a clear temporal order and go through them one by one - which will help things a lot IMO
I just hope Togashi doesn´t become predictible like making us empatize with the genei ryodan to then kill them all. Like yes, some of them may die, and have died, but all of them would be awful. At least now we understand Chrollo´s anger towards Hisoka, since Ryodan members are like his brothers, his only family, and in the future we may see that there was a deeper purpose behind Kurta´s clan decimation.

Parriston Hill quote
Sheila/Parriston killed Sarasa
Damn man looking drippy with that yyh hoodie
bro.. rewatching that Yorknew city arc gonna hit different now
I actually don’t think we will see what is on
the note but it was implied that it read:
“Trash”
I also do not believe the Kurta were in any
way involved with the human trafficking.
I don’t think Togashi is gonna do a reverse
Uno card on the Kurta massacre.
I think Chrollo PURPOSELY chose a PEACEFUL village and massacred them
in a horrible manner as a message to the world that not only are the Spiders strong enough to wipe out an entire clan but that they are willing to commit atrocities against innocent people.
@@arabiannomad9793 where do you get this info/theory?
@@arabiannomad9793 what? is there a map saying that the kurta clan is in meteor city or the kurta clans location is near meteor city?
Bad theory
Damn son, I dont wont to get my hopes up but chapter 400 is gonna be wild.
This chapter gave off true detective vibes
we knew it was going to be dark from how chapter 396 ended, and it defenitly was dark.
And them they murdered all the Kurta clan for their eyes
It's so weird they got to that point, the Phantom Troupe we have and the flash back still seem so disconected.
The end of this last chapter sets then up as Anti Heros, i think it should continue a little more to showcase when they turn into Vilains, murderous thiefs
Yeah idk how this would make them turn into the true villains we know they are now. This read like a typical anti hero back story
We still don’t know any of the context of the kurta clan massacre so I’m holding my breath to see how they go to that point
This chapter made me cry...
same . same .
Good video, I hope this leads to something that will more definitively show the connection between the troupe, Shelia, and the kurta clan
I wonder if next chapter well get the kurta clan massacre from their perspective or is that a final battle with kurapika reveal
I feel like we’re gonna go back to the present. We may get a couple panels, but I think nobungas flash back was there to show why they formed, and how they differ from hei lei group. Then again, with renko, or whatever the nen users name was, seems like there’s more story to be told between her and machi
I have my yu yu hakusho shirt on as well. Great minds think alike.
Togashi delivers yet again
If this was done by members of the red-eye tribe, this really could be full circle. Or maybe the massacre of the red-eye tribe is something they had to do to get close to them.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. WE HAVE A BACKSTORY NOW~!
The last image of the chapter is the same one from Pakunoda memories.
Didnt think much of it then, but this chapter proves Togashi had the troupes beginnings in his mind for a long time.
they sure didnt spare the kurta children tho
Chrollo told Machi and Shizu to kill them if they tried to escape. They were valuable hostages and might have had information, that's all
Togashi writes a lot of things ahead, and a lot of different things.
"we need to offer our lives"...this line struck me...is this the very same nen condition kurapika used and thats how Chrollo becmae so powerful?
There were two notes, one on the tree and another on Sarasa’s head.
The one on her head most likely describes their pleasure and feelings of what they did.
Pakunoda doesn't read minds, her nen ability allows her to see through people's memories via touch.
It's hard for me to explain to someone who watches a lot more anime than I do but has never seen HunterxHunter, and they will show me something like Tokyo ghoul and say man this is such a dark show isn't it I'm just like, thousand yard stare:
Kinda...... I've seen worse.
Like it's the kind of darkness that almost seems juvenile where it's just Gore and body counts to the point where it almost becomes like a grindhouse thing more so than something that's like seriously exploring the darkness of the human condition.
I think what it is is the restraint inherent in it being a shonen so while he can show some bloody stuff it's not like it's a PG cartoon at the same time to gosh she knows that sometimes not showing you is even worse than showing you because your imagination will worse than anything he could ever show you
Hunter Hunter is just too good
Yeah, we'll definitely see what the notes says, in his last breath along with Kurapika x hisoka. I hope these murderers have something to do with the Kurta clan so that way the spiders killed them all out of revenge and not just for tserriednich request.
That way we can see a parallel between Kurapika x chrollo like we did with Meruem x Gon .
Uvo be like, what's in the box?
@@Realblack_m0nster they didn't even remember the Kurta so is not possible that it was a personal reason
Yo, don't worry about video times! Real fans are going to watch! I love your channel bro, thanks for the vid!
I think what you were trying to say for a moment is how good Togashi is at blurring the lines between right and wrong and i truly believe that.
One of my favorite chapters. Togashi is the fucking GOAT.
remember the note they left at the kurta clan
I don't think we will ever know what that note said. It's way better to leave us guessing it.
All it take’s is a lost of something sweet and pure for the spider to go on a rampage.😔🐱
This chapter just hyped the dark continent even more.
I live for these reviews
Ryan, if you see this. What hxh chapter do you personally give a 10/10?
So many

A hero is only as good as their villain.
tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if kurapika hisoka chrollo and the 4th prince are all dead by the end of this arc
*A Wild Gyro appears*
I'm thinking Kurapika and Hosoka team up then both die after killing the Spiders
Hisoka doesn’t need kurapika
@felixgarcia2596 no shit Sherlock. I'm just saying they could team up since they both have shit with the Spiders
@@JunkyardGod don’t get so upset it’s just a comment 🗿 plus gyro probably won’t show until a long time
@felixgarcia2596 I'm not upset. And yeah I'm aware he's not showing up. A guy can hope 🤣
He has to,so that will make sense why the Spider is soo dark too
The great question now is: what did that note say, why Chrollo doesn´t want to say it?
So Chrollo's endgame is to lure all the criminals and kill them? Sounds very Pain-like. How does this play into his belief in determinism and his battle with Hisoka?
Imagine if the kurta clan had something to do with it and kurapika was just to young to know about it. This could go anywhere
no
For the first time in several years i read HxH for this chapter to see what the fuss was about and a villain origin story. While Tragic, its still not a real reason for the F.T. to be as fked up and murderous as they are. They should be against the establishment, gangs and the mafia that exploit Meteor City but.. they've been seen killing innocents or bystanders on more than one occasion. So no, I don't sympathize.
I can't read HxH anymore because of how text dense the manga has become. I'm content to wait for the eventual anime adaptation
Chainsawmans on par with its dark storytelling
I just hope Togashi doesn´t become predictible like making us empatize with the genei ryodan to then kill them all. Like yes, some of them may die, and have died, but all of them would be awful. At least now we understand Chrollo´s anger towards Hisoka, since Ryodan members are like his brothers, his only family, and in the future we may see that there was a deeper purpose behind Kurta´s clan decimation.
The message on Sarasa's body was probably the same that they would later leave, "We reject no one, so take nothing from us."
bro what??
@@nowayout3904 that's a message that the phantom troupe leave as a warning
Knowing who the killers are I doubt it a little bit
@@Danny2113182 how did you come to the conclusion that the killers left the same message? Makes no sense

do record of lodoss war, ubel blatt, bestarius, and ragna crimson

Yeah no the longest hiatus has been 4 years and if you think about it for any amount of time you'd realize that he's aware that he's not getting any younger.
At worst we might just get 10 chapters a year again especially considering how he's trying to find the best way to communicate with his assistants and he's already finished the manuscripts up to page 13 of 403.
There will be hiatuses but probably not longer than 4 years anymore. Because just lately he started working in a different way, he said it himself.
Where’s 401? Hey did you know 401 came out? Hey Ryan Hunter Hunter 401 came out. Ryan did you know Hunter Hunter is back from its hiatus. Don’t know if you knew this Ryan but Hunter Hunter is back! It’s back Hunter Hunter is with chapter 401 I’m expecting your review Ryan where is it. 401 it’s time
I think a major questions is who da fuck is Renko-San? Her strange words to Machi: "Those pretty eyes of yours. They make my skin crawl," seem pretty suspect to me. I feel she may have some connection to Tserreidnich, given his hobby of collecting body parts and all that.
And also, her design is badass.
She is Kikyo's sister, Renko lol.
Epstein island arc looking real good so far.
