I really liked this video man. I'm a hardcore lure angler and I always prefer the lure option but I'm no purist and if I see that throwing some bait will make my day significantly more productive or will save me from a skunk then I go for it.
Chunkings a classic. One of the best ways to grab cow class stripers off the surf. Play soft structure and monitor the current and moon and you'll be fine.
I’ve started striper fishing this year in Maine! Already caught 10 little guys but they’ve all been on SB minnows. I want to get into chunking and using real bait. I normally fish off the beach / under a bridge at the reservoir. There’s a LOT of rocks here so I’m constantly losing lures, I haven’t fished bait because I feel like it would get caught even more. Any recommendations?
I came to find how to catch a striper. Clicked a random video and your also from RI if you could contact me to show me some things or spots I'd love that. I'm from warwick
If your ever looking for a buddy to fish with HMU I’m in Rhode Island too I plug or chunk , how do you avoid catching dogfish lol ? I’ve caught stripers on bait earlier in the season but lately all my night trip are dogfish big ones at least
That’s not just in your neighborhood my neighborhood was the same.that’s Southern California. Striper boils sucked and all stripers were small. Plus we have lots of knuckle heads who poach here.
I noticed the same thing this season, not a lot of big fish. But i killed it on freshwater. Do you live on the island or do you just like fishing there?
kinda missed the window for shoreline tog. no idea what a bergall is haha. might take a couple chartered cod trips and chase some holdover stripers. never really ice fished before either
If it's private sneak out at nigh LMAO. I concentrate on lure fishing but I don't discriminate if chunking works then it works. All I care about is catching the fish. This year has been bad for Flounder/ Fluke here in Galveston county Texas we're only hitting bout 25 to 45 % of last years numbers. Nothing has been the same since hurricane Harvey it changed everything here.
We have Stripped bass stoked in Texas fresh water reservoirs. One year of abundant rain they had to release a lot of water from Canyon Lake dam and the river was running so hard it was throwing fish up on shore. I went and collected a 5 and a 20lb stripped Bass. I had never eaten one before but became a fan after frying them up.
crazy how one major storm can change things. definitely have noticed a drop in bigger stripers over the past 3 years, the fish are there just smaller on average. occasionally i'll pull up a couple fluke chunking haha
Thanks for the vid. Great info. I'm north of you in Canada. We're using mackerel and it works well.
Thanks again.
I'm chucking mackrele of a beach shore. Not sure how I feel about it, worked great for tidel river, but not here so far

Every days a school day, cheers for the info mate. It'll come in handy.

There she goes big shout out to the La"s
Awesome, Year end video, Johnny! I for one prefer chucking over lures. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind lures, in fact, I do both. Take care!
I agree both are fun, nothing beats seeing your chunk pole shoot down though

I agree chunking is a great way to target big fish
Always wanted to catch a striper! Awesome video bro

Great videooo thanks for teaching me I'm just a beginner!
thanks for watching!
Is mackeral a good bait for this.
If you're bound to get mono leads cut by blues, why would you use mono?
because I target stripers, you wont get as many striper hits using a steel leader
Gave a 👍. Been through all the kayak videos. Working on the rest.

Same here, just moved to RI and new to Striper fishing.
Hey man I’m Rhode Island too where was this fishing spot ?
If your ever looking for a buddy to fish with HMU I’m in Rhode Island too I plug or chunk , how do you avoid catching dogfish lol ? I’ve caught stripers on bait earlier in the season but lately all my night trip are dogfish big ones at least
So live bait or cut bait ?
Sea robin tails taste like lobster
I've heard, gonna try cooking them this season
Just curious I have seen that you use a mojo surf is that what your using to Chunk or another setup

Solid advice brother I'll be sure to try it out if I get the chance!
What type of fish is that for bait?
What rod are you using ?
I noticed the same thing this season, not a lot of big fish. But i killed it on freshwater. Do you live on the island or do you just like fishing there?
pretty much everyone around here had that issue, I'm an islander born and raised haha
Useful information about fishing ... great friend ... 👍👍
no winter tog fishing? bergall? no winter targets? I am waiting for cooler water, myself. Winter panfish are damn delicious!

@@Fish-RI get on it.. make some content.. bergall is the same thing as a cunner? does that ring a bell?
