Two wheels in extreme conditions can make you feel very vulnerable......I guess you have to take the 'rough with the smooth' on a long trip. It is good to be reminded that motorcycle travel isn't always snowy mountains and sunsets and that sometimes you can't have the one without the other. Thanks for sharing.
I was soooooo lucky with the weather overall, so can't complain, just needed to stop every now and again. And yes, the contrasting weather makes you appreciate the better weather more Nick
Many thanks for your thoughts, in reality I enjoyed both trips, it may just be the way I've edited this trip. I can highly recommend both to anyone who has the opportunity I've been lucky enough to have. Thanks again Nick
Ah yes, Scandinavia and rain rain rain. I think a night or two in a hotel would have been justified. With that lovely feeling of hanging everything up over warm radiators.
I’m glad it dried out in the end for you Nick for your walkabout : I use “Scott” waterproofs.I like the stretch rubbery material, high collar on the jacket and the high waste band on the trousers: worth a look.Richard
Thanks Richard, yep, I stayed 2 nights so the gear dried out and the day off the bike wandering around Helsinki was a nice break. Thanks for the Scott suggestion, I've heard good things too. Nick
@@bikingtravelsThe Motolegends shop do a UA-cam review ( kit available from others Retailers ! but they price match). The jacket now comes in two colour options.
I reckon a good wax jacket or a Sowester are the only things that would really keep you dry. Wax jackets work very well, you do have to reapply it now and again for it to work.
I remained dry as there is a waterproof membrane but the textiles were soaked, so, yep, something to be said for wax jackets, or maybe a nice dayglo yellow sowester 😁 Nick
What a miserable ride that was; your rain spirits really caught up with you. At least the weather improved for your day trip into Helsinki. Did the rain gear ever dry out? See you in the next episode. Cheers, Jim
Hi Jim , yep, not the best of riding conditions, but so few of those days this trip. And yes, the gear dried out on my day off the bike, so all good. Nick
Blinking rain, nightmare when you cannot dry out. Finland seems pretty bland for scenery when compared to the ride through Norway but at least you have done it.
At least the next day was dry so the gear could dry properly. I don't think I did Finland justice, somebody mentioned travelling down the other side of the river, but yep, after the stunning scenery I'd been through, there wasn't much of a comparison. Nick
Blasting thru the whole country on motorways you really do not see anything i am afraid. Safe journeys to come to you! hope i make some sort of adventure next summer. I have the same cb500x in green🤩
I agree, I set my Garmin to "Adventurous routing", sometimes it works better than others, it did not do very well in Finland. I hope you have a great trip next year, great choice of bike to enjoy the scenery Nick
I struggled with sound the whole trip really, some days better than others and some just awful, hope the visuals told enough on those poor sound days Nick

Hi Nick, your trip thru southern european countries was more enjojable for you and for us also. Thanks for sharing, keep safe!

Consider a couple of nights in a hostel, chance to dry out , cheaper than a hotel .
Good suggestion... next time...

@@Gravelish Indeed that is so, it really quite stark that two countries that are so close can have such different landscape.

6:53 did you see if an UFO went overhead? 🛸
🤣 Now that would be something to make a video go viral

The audio isn't very good with your helmet mike but guess you know and in with a fix

Next time put plastic bag first to your feet and after that to boots. It might help a little bit 🤔
Thanks for the suggestion but I have tried that before and the modern plastic bags disintegrate quite quickly in a boot. 😱
