One of the saddest scenes, it was missandies death that triggered Danys attack of kings landing, dracarys, was missandies way of telling her queen to burn it all down
At least you see it. For years folks like Dany just went postal for no reason. There were plenty of reasons. She's lost almost everything and everyone she loved by sailing to Westeros. This was literally the straw that broke the camel's back.
@I think it goes deeper than that. Dany is truly her grandfather’s spawn. She has been burning people from the beginning; starting with the Dothraki leaders in the grass and straw hut, then, witch who killed Khol Drago. She burned the guy she traded her dragon for the Dothraki Army, she burned Sam’s father and brother who wouldn’t “bend the knee”. She burned most of the Lannister army, after they vanquished Alana at HighGarden. Of course she burned a bunch of walkers before that. She burned the Eunuch, Tyrion’s friend, and she was going to burn Tyrion. After she is finished here, her intent is to move toward Winterfell. This is when even John realizes she must be stopped, I don’t understand why most folks didn’t see what was right in front of their eyes the whole time. Was it was because she was only burning her “enemies?”
@@lindaharrell3916 Good point. And yes, that's why we missed she was in fact, going mad for power. Good storytelling can misdirect you. The innocents of Kings Landing didn't deserve to die, but Cersei sure as hell should've been slow roasted on a spit.

GOT trivia: Peter Dinklage had been cast in the role of Tyrion Lannister. He was the one who recommended his friend Lena Heady for the role of Cersei Lannister. Dude nailed it.
I’m always so confused why people are still surprised that Dany burned down Kings landing. In a matter of months she lost: her oldest and best friend Missandei, one of her most dedicated friends in Jorah Mormont and two of her dragons that she loved like children. This was just the first domino to fall. That’s enough to make anyone snap
My two cents: I don't think people were confused so much as disappointed that Dany didn't strike down Cersei directly. They would have preferred her end to be by dragonfire as opposed to falling debris.
@SaltyMinorcan - Probably expected that Jon would be the one to be do that, being the one who worked the hardest to bring them all together. Plus the optics of the former King in the North/true heir of the Iron Throne defeating the Night King.
Facts. Especially since Missandei said Dracarys. She was from Naath, they're peaceful people. She wanted Dany to burn it to the ground. "One day, she hoped to see this fabled Isle of Naath. Missandei said the Peaceful People made music instead of war. They did not kill, not even animals; they ate only fruit and never flesh. The butterfly spirits sacred to their Lord of Harmony protected their isle against those who would do them harm. Many conquerors had sailed on Naath to blood their swords, only to sicken and die. The butterflies do not help them when the slave ships come raiding, though." -thoughts of Dany's from A Storm of Swords chapter 71
For all the complaints about Season 8, I actually thought this was a good setup for Dany finally snapping and letting the Targaryen madness of her father and brother take over, as the only one left who could have talked her off that metaphorical ledge after this provocation would have been Missandei. Irony at its finest. Jorah and Barristan are both dead, Tyrion's lost almost all credibility in her eyes, Grey Worm is a pure soldier whose only concern is following his queen's orders, and Jon has become a potential rival (even if he doesn't want to be). The only moderating voice left with any real influence over her was Missandei. When Cersei kills Missandei (via Gregor), she also kills herself by "waking the dragon".
A lot of people thought Cersei was a morally grey character & called her complex but I can’t remember a scene where I liked her nor became fond of her. I did feel sorry for her when she lost her children but that all happened because of her own actions. Even her unborn baby was doomed the minute she did this
I can answer this as probably the biggest Cersei Lannister fan on the planet, lol. Cersei is one of the most complex characters I have ever seen. She, for one, knows who she is and she absolutely owns it. You see a woman who feels she's overlooked due to her gender. Cersei has never truly had the freedom her brother's had, even with Jaime being in the Kingsguard, it was something he chose. Cersei's contribution was to have more children, though she feels that she's sacrificed the most and in a way she has. Tywin wouldn't be near the throne without Cersei. Even after Robert's death, Tywin full intended for his forty something year-old daughter to marry and "breed" again. And yes, Tyrion was forced into marrying Sansa, but this was Cersei's second time up to bat and she absolutely could not do it again. Her kids were all she had and losing her mother so very early in her life, left to be raised by a cold and overly determined father who intended to use his children as pawns didn't help. The one person Cersei probably felt could have made her a different person because she actually showed her love died giving birth to Tyrion, something she irrationally hates him for, same as her father. She knows he it's not his fault, she simply needs someone to funnel that anger in to. If Tyrion looked like Jaime, she'd still hate him. And in the same breath, she oddly respected Tyrion. Their scenes together in seasons 2 & 3 were some of the best scenes in this show. They despise one another but despite it all, they are all they had as Jaime was captured. She actually opens up to Tyrion about her feelings towards Joffrey, because he's the only one she can openly speak about this with. And I disagree about her children. Yes, Cersei spoiled the hell out of Joffrey but his death is not her fault. Joffrey hadn't done anything to the Tyrell's other than marrying Margaery to make her Queen. They killed him because Joffrey would never be a puppet like Tommen. Myrcella's death had nothing to do with Cersei, that beef was because of TYWIN. He ordered the deaths of Elia Martell and her children once he sacked KL during Robert's Rebellion. Cersei wanted Myrcella nowhere near Dorne, Tyrion is the one who sent her there. I love Tyrion, but that was HIS fault. Tommen committed suicide because he knew he'd remain a pawn to his mother and anyone else he married. He knew Margaery was using him for her own gain, and he also knew his mother would act the same way towards any other woman he'd marry. She'd hate her. I will die on this hill because if I look at what truly hurt House Lannister, it wasn't Cersei. Joffrey's death had a domino effect. Tyrion and Sansa were implicated leading to Tyrion killing Tywin. Tywin's death was the catalyst because that wall was gone. And who ordered that hit on Joffrey along with Littlefinger? Olenna. Like, I get she's a villain, but she's blamed for so much and half of it simply isn't true. Even with believing Tyrion killed Joffrey, she didn't feel this way because she hated him, she felt this way because as Joffrey is dying, he POINTS at Tyrion and as she looks up Tyrion is picking up the goblet Joffrey was drinking from. She truly believed Tyrion killed him. Her anger and rage are understandable. Tywin knew damned well Tyrion didn't kill Joffrey, yet he put his son on trial all the same to be rid of him. Tywin overall is worse than Cersei could ever be. And I love Tywin, for me he is the GOAT, but I will call a spade a spade.
