NOTE - Jan 4 2022 - WSP has now updated the recipe and kit listing to include the black colorant! They actually called us personally to apologize and offered to make a full refund of the kit. If you purchase this from now on, you'll get all the pieces necessary.
I gotta agree with you Katie, for such an expensive kit, this one SURE misses the mark. There HAS to be a better way than the piecemeal way they construct the snowman. Especially since it has no details, like a face or buttons for instance. If a grown woman that does this for a LIVING had trouble with it, I'd HATE to see how hard it would be for a teenager, or even an inexperienced adult.
I have bought quite a few of the kits from Wholesale Supplies--they are usually my Christmas present to me. I think I will be taking a miss on this one though because of the labor involved, and I don't think I'll have a future use for 2 out of the 3 molds, which is something I take into account. The people I give soap to (which is why I buy the kits) are not people who would appreciate how time intensive this is *lol* Most of them haven't used any of the soap I gave them from easier kits. This year I bought fragrances, colorants and glitters from them and am reusing the molds from last year to make something.
I would love to try making soap and a starter kit like this would be right up my alley BUT I wouldn't buy one unless you reviewed it first so I could follow what you do and plan for adjustments
I did actually get a kit she reviewed Specifically in the kits from 1990 that my mom mom wouldn’t buy me. And I got the fairy kit. Highly recommend it, it’s so much fun but also stressful because glitter
@@ladygrndr9424 I like their soap kits, but I avoid these like the pl- you know the saying 😂 I love their solid air freshener kits quite a bit, but you end up saving getting the kits with the mold then kind of buying ingredients separately for refills, since you have the molds (and usually a ton more fragrance oil than you need for the kit)
Katie PLEASE MAKE A SOAP MAKING KIT OF YOUR OWN. I would buy the heck out of that thing because it would be worth the shipping to Australia in a way that a bar of soap that will be used up isn’t worth it for my budget… *PLEASE SIS* 🙏🏻❤️ Edit: I think I’d skip the scarf & use alcohol & the red pigment to paint the individual bars
She has said in a few videos that she won’t make one because it’s not cost effective for buyers. It’s better for us to buy the ingredients ourselves and then follow her instructional videos. Shipping for a soap kit from USA to Oz would be a couple hundreds dollars 💸
Now you should do your version of this snowman soap! I feel like you’d kill it and make it soo cute! Also with toasted marshmallow scents instead of peppermint!
I love that scent idea and I immediately pictured snowmen made of actual toasted marshmallows encapsulated in soap! 😂 ⛄❄️🔥 I had a cupcake bath bomb with real sprinkles once but I guess marshmallows would be a bit sticky..
I absolutely love your kit review videos, and I appreciate the small thoughtful touches, like using a kitchen knife to cut the bars since most people buying the kit aren't going to have all the specific tools needed to do so. You channel is amazing, and I appreciate your positive attitude, honesty, and how much fun your channel is
I think it would have been better design wise if the scarfy bit was maybe used as a hill. There was no way it was going to ever work having a squiggly surface attaching to a flat one. I really don't like the floating head. It would have been much simpler to not include the scarf at all and make sure you had...IDK, the black for the hat. OR if they want to do 2 molds, have a mold for the hat and a mold for the body. The scarf is what really messes it up for me. It just doesn't work and makes the kit look haphazardly thrown together.
It's giving Frosty wearing a red sweater and waving at us, rather than Frosty wearing a scarf. I feel like a snowflake suspended in the mould would have made more sense - and kept our snowman friend in one piece.
It's a strange design to me. It looks like there's a floating scarf not like the snowman is wearing one. It feels old fashioned to me but not in a nice way. Maybe sometimes less is more and they should have just went with the snowman and hat.
I think it would be easier to skip the scarf and have a separate mold for the hat. It would be much easier to pour and if the hat is floating a little bit it'll look less weird than a decapitated snowman.
As much as I love the usual cold process soap videos something about watching micas and glitters mixing in melt and pour (✨especially✨ the clear kind) is so immensely satisfying. Could watch that allllll day lol!
12 DAYS OF SOAPMAS IS HERE! I discovered your channel this year, and have binged A LOT of your videos, but its exciting to actually watch soapmas in real time!
For something simple like a snowman, it would've been more practical (and better for future use) to include 2 round canes and one square cane mold. These two molds would be hard to find other uses for in the future (for the cost, it would be nice to be able to reuse them) - and giving a few basic shaped canes would've made it a really great kit. But yeah...whoever was in charge of creating the kit missed the mark on their job.
For 108 dollars they better include everything needed! I mean to my untrained eye they gave you plent extra of all the other colours so why not include the black and a little pipette dropper for pouring the head like it can't be that expensive. I love the kit and the idea especially because you can reuse the mold which I think is an amazing plus but they really need to include the black colour
Katie I just received my Pepermeint cocoa soap and I'm so excited to gift it to my mom. Maybe I'll gift myself this kit? If the bars look amazing enough!!
@@theresavandever1387 So why did you feel the need to mention it? You could have just kept going, You did not have to call her out like that. You know the saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
I love your honesty in this review. Yes, it is cute. But, price, missing colorant, difficulty in execution... And, no, you are not being disrespectful to the company. Every company will get a *wah-whaaaah* dud once in a while. It doesn't detract from their other products. Thank you, Katie, for all you do! We love you! ❤
I got this kit for my son and I to make as gifts for Christmas. We loved the snowman by its self, and while the scarf is cute, it was just way to big, and the curve made it very difficult to assemble. There were a few tears mixed into our bars. But grandpa & grandma loved them, and gave him lots of praise for all his hard work on them. And yes, we were also missing the black colorant. But my best friend, who makes soap, gave us a big assist and brought us some.
This video makes me SOOO nostalgic, because your fish under water M&P was where I started my own soap journey, so thank you for always sharing and being such an inspiration. Your snowman looks awesome :D
Same here. My first Katie M/P was her DIY Botanical Citrus with poppy seeds and calendula. Her helpers were her adorable little sisters. My first intricate M/P and was awesome.
I so so heartedly agree about the lack of instructions! Companies these days are really cutting corners not including an invoice, instructions etc. And $108 for melt and pour? I do get the molds are reusable but they are project specific.
Kit reviews are very helpful. For those who have never tried to make soap, for parents that are looking to get projects to work together with kids, and for those who are curious and want to try something new, your insightful perspective is very valuable. You help demonstrate how easy, frustrating, or actually complicated something can be. I kinda wondered if you were about to tap any of the molds to try and loosen up bubbles like you do with your large slab molds. I wondered how easy this would be to make when it's in the hands of a professional soapmaker. I was definitely curious to your pros and cons.
I enjoy seeing these honest reviews from a professional crafter - I appreciate trustworthy videos that help us decide how to spend our hard-earned money. 🥰🎄☃️
Honestly, I think the product was worth the effort. I know it cost a lot, but they had to include a lot of different materials for this. If they hadn't left out the black it definitely would have been worth it. I think they needed to make the scarf a little flatter in the middle so you could attach the halves properly, but it looks very cute!
I love seeing these videos! The perfectionist in me loves watching a pro make kits that are made for us normal folk because it's so satisfying when they come out looking so perfect 😂

I recommend putting the snowman in upside down. This way the scarf is angled better for the melt and pour. Katie you did such a beautiful job! Holy soap never hurt anyone. I Love the extra glitter. It came out beautiful!
I have no idea why I am addicted to your videos. I don’t like bar soap. I don’t intend to buy bar soap. I don’t want to make bar soap. But I’m still here. Every video. Completely invested for no discernible reason. 😹 I think it’s your personality. You are pretty delightful.
This was a tough kit. They need to pay you for the full tutorial, I have never made soap and if this was my first tries I would probably never try again. Great job pulling it out.
It looks like most of the cost of the kit is for the molds, which bought separately would cost about $75. I wouldn't think that was super unreasonable except the most expensive mold in this set is the squiggly one, which is *$28.50* on the website. Umm, excuse me?!? That just seems kinda steep, especially since the snowman mold is only $21.65. Just seems a bit off to me🤔🤷♀️
I'd say that we watch pretty much every craft kit video you make. We being my little DD and me. Not only are they fun, but we get good ideas for that, "something fun for ourselves"! Thanks Katie! And everyone else! 😄
Thank you for posting content regularly. I have anxiety at night. I put your videos on before bed and it makes me feel relaxed. I love your videos and the different topics you do. Thanks Katie
The snowman being visibly two bits irks me - but I think it would be cool to mess around with the snowman mold - an idea I had was maybe doing the snowman normally without the head chop - and rather than a scarf embed you could do a stamp of one on the final bar and flood the stamp with whatever scarf color you want
I agree! Honestly, the scarf 🧣 doesn’t add a whole lot to the look for me; I don’t find the shape very appealing. He could easily be stamped just with buttons and look adorable!
I love these, especially since I would only ever buy maybe one or two kits in my life, it’s nice to see some different types of kits. I also love how you really try to think from a perspective of someone who doesn’t often make soaps. Knowing that the black colorant was missing, and also using a kitchen knife to make it accurate to what our experiences would be was really nice. I also appreciated the comments on how much color or glitter to use, and where you may want to add the most or least possible. 10/10, I love these reviews
I really appreciate your candor! I feel like so many “reviews” of products on UA-cam are very careful not to come across as at all critical, probably to make sure the company can’t possibly get mad at them, and it makes their reviews totally useless. Being able to hear that you’re very open about the flaws and problems with this kit makes me feel like your reviews are trustworthy and that I can rely on them if I want to buy a soap kit!
YES! Please do more soap making kit reviews!! It would seriously help crafters to know if a kit is at their skill level and/or if they need to pick up missing ingredients if they do choose to purchase a kit like this one that is missing a major ingredient. Thank you!!!
I loved watching you do a kit. I'm just starting to dabble in soap making and it's great to see a kit being done by someone who knows what they are doing
I really enjoy watching your testing videos! A lot of these kits are missing important steps and can be quite confusing. The way you explain in detail how you are doing each step is very helpful. I also love the way you make it fun and enjoyable to make soaps!❤️🤗🌹
It was a lovely video! I like your reviews because as someone who is so experienced you can quickly point out things that may be difficult for total newbies and that even your creations can have little troubles (like that air bubble). As much as I like watching your original creations I also do like you doing craft kits. Happy Holidays!
I just broke down and bought a soap making kit from bramble berry. And you like inspired me! I followed your directions using the other kit and you straight gave me the confidence to deal with lye. It was awesome! So thank you for your content gf!
I am so happy that you are doing 12 days of soapmas! I love your videos; they brighten my day and inspired me to make soap myself! I started 2 years ago and now I make solid dish soap too! Thank you for all they joy and amazing soap you give to the world.
Loveee your videos 😆 you're my dog's favorite UA-camr! He legitimately sits down & watches your whole video everytime! 🤣 just wanted to say thank you, honestly helps me & him calm down watching you create 🤗💕
love the look on snow men, and plain evergreen trees, and snow this time of year. i got to make some winter glycerin soaps one year. i made white with glittery snow and pieces of peppermint candy on top. and i made sugar plum, with sugar plum fragrance. but ive found a plum scent id like to try next time if i do this again. i put two purple balls that looked like plums in a white base with white glittery stuff. and two different color pears kind of shaped to fit together a bit like yin and yang, in some melt and pour. it was fun. they looked pretty good two.
14:19 Why do I start thinking of PTX’s White Winter Hymnal? 🎶 with scarves of red, tied ‘round their throats, to keep their little heads, from falling in the snow 🎶
Hello Katie: I have watched you off and on for a few years and love your videos You've made me laugh many times. I've even have bought some things from you as well. Back when Debbie May owned and ran the company a very nice lady who I've meet at the Ohio Soap meeting one year. When she ran the company the instructions where always with the kits. Your right at 108 for the kit comes out to 13.50 a bar and for those who sell their products they have to figure their time as well and packing It looked like you had about 5 hours . I figure my time at about $20 hour . which puts it at about $26 a bar. I love WSP they have great products . This may be a fun project to do with older kids. Just my thought Keep the great videos coming
i'm so excited for all of soapmas!! and i want to say - you inspired me to start soap crafting myself, my supplies are in the mail right now, and i'm excited for that too! your videos make my day better (which i think i've said before but i'm saying it again)
12 days of soapmas!!! I watched it for the first time Last year loved it then. Loved the first one of 2021 thank you Katie. You perked up a tough tuesday for me .
What a cute kit! 😍 But so expensive!🥴 I would love to watch more of these kits being made. Just to see if I can buy one if it's a reasonable price, and isn't missing any items that I as a not soap maker doesn't have in my stash. Especially kits from Amazon. They are also easy to buy in Europe. Other brands are quite expensive due to shipping costs from the USA to the Netherlands.
Girl, watching you do this and knowing how talented you are and the passion you have to master your craft-watching you do this has made me realize that there is no way I’m that talented. Lol. Guess I’ll stick to buying.
Wow. Beautiful and Adorable. The price is crazy; although, once I did the math, the price per bar is not as bad as I expected it to be. If my is accurate, it figures to about $13.50. Still a very expensive bar of melt and pour. Even though I am not a fan of M&P soap, that swirling glitter in the clear, light blue soap was just stunning.
Hey Katie, I love when you do tutorials on making soap! I really would like to get some of those large vertical molds. I am looking for a snowflake that is large.
Love the craft kit reviews! I'm in the UK and I don't have access to a lot of them but I love a craft kit to do with my son 😊 he recently made sea creature soaps "just like Katie"
Those turned out so cute 😍 and pretty! Thanks for testing these kits and if you can keep testing out craft soap kits as a series on your channel. I would totally dig watching them
More kit reviews please! It’s really fun to watch you try them out and see if they have good results / would be worth purchasing. Probably won’t purchase since I like making things from scratch, but you never know! Thanks for making such delightful content.
Yes! Love these videos where you try out kits! I enjoy hearing your opinions on what’s good and not so good about soaping products. Totally different idea- do people ever send you soaps they have made that didn’t work and ask for your advice on what went wrong and how to fix it? I would be interested in that too 😄💗
I really liked this video. I enjoy watching you make craft kits. You're personality mixed with the craft... mmuah..much... chefs kiss! Please continue to do more!
I really enjoy the kit testing videos. Especially the ones with your daughter, because she ist just adorable. But I also like the more serious one like this because I was actually looking for a kit for a friend.
You know, when i saw the thumbnail, I assumed the design was made using the shaped scraper technique rather than a soap cane! The decapitation to insert the scarf was a liiiittle weird. Even with as excellent a job as you did it still looks like his head is floating! I think i would be tempted to do the scarf as a stamp on each bar at the end. Also, why make the scarf a separate cane if they’re gonna have you do the hat by caaaarefully pouring in the tiny cane mold? Seems like they could have had you do small pours for the head and then the scarf all in the same cane. Though maybe it would be difficult to design that mold.
Love catching this so early after it's been posted! I treated myself to a bar of the silver bells amethyst soap! Thank you for doing an essential oil soap

I think it is business sense to sell the scarf in a kit am sure people don't use that mold all year round.
The scarf can just be a squiggle in a soap, I used to sell a paper mint bar that had two red squiggles in it that looked similar to the scarf.
Finally caught your video early. Now I can watch your video while I fold clothes. Yay!!!
Hooray!!
Yes more kits! I love that you notice the little details.
I'd love to see you do more of the rather pricey kits, as someone who does kits sometimes, I enjoy watching and seeing if they're worth the price 💙💜
I really enjoy watching your testing videos! A lot of these kits are missing important steps and can be quite confusing. The way you explain in detail how you are doing each step is very helpful. I also love the way you make it fun and enjoyable to make soaps!❤️🤗🌹
He is a cute snowman, although he doesn’t look like he is wearing a scarf, he looks like he is dancing with a red shirt on 😅
Honestly I’d be into a soap asmr kind of thing, watching all the melting and mixing and pouring and demolding was very soothing 💆♀️
Nothing like Royalty Soaps on this fine Tuesday!
Thank you!!
You should make a soap making video in black and white and at the end show the final result in color! 🥰
Ooooooh cool idea!!
Crafting with Katie!!! Your excitement opening the kit is contagious ☺️. You're the best ❤️
Thanks so much!!
Katie, I'd love to see more of these kit reviews. I love getting the details, and hearing about any "gotcha"s.
This was so pretty! The sparkly clear melt and pour reminds me of bath and body works soap.
🥰🥰🥰
That squiggle shape filled with different neon colors in a blue base reminds me of a shirt I had in the 80's.
🥰🥰🥰
You should totally make your own soap making kits and sell those. The journey to get there was hard, but the end result looked really cute!
Oh yes!! I would buy it!

Why do I start thinking of PTX’s White Winter Hymnal?
🎶 with scarves of red, tied ‘round their throats, to keep their little heads, from falling in the snow 🎶
I will watch you do practically anything 😂 I enjoy your energy and your enthusiasm.
I love watching your videos they help me on hard days, thank you for being a light in this world!
Super cute!! I am so glad you added more glitter to the blue part!
i'm so excited for all of soapmas!! and i want to say - you inspired me to start soap crafting myself, my supplies are in the mail right now, and i'm excited for that too! your videos make my day better (which i think i've said before but i'm saying it again)
I am so glad!
Yay, 12 Days of Soapmas!! I love watching you make these kits and hearing your honest reviews. This one was super cute!
12 days of soapmas!!! I watched it for the first time Last year loved it then. Loved the first one of 2021 thank you Katie. You perked up a tough tuesday for me .
Super cute! I love watching you do soap kits
What a cute kit! 😍 But so expensive!🥴
I would love to watch more of these kits being made.
I love that you test these kind of kits. It evokes so much joy
I’m so glad you enjoy!
I love that you said "first I shall *unmold* from this giant box," in the beginning of the video.
🥰🥰
I love it! "More glitter equals more better!" Yay!
Girl, watching you do this and knowing how talented you are and the passion you have to master your craft-watching you do this has made me realize that there is no way I’m that talented. Lol. Guess I’ll stick to buying.
I love your just usual soap making videos the most but craft kits are definitely my second fav kind of videos!
That was such a fun journey and it was sooo relaxing! 💕
I love these videos! I appreciate the honesty of the good and bad things of kits
I love seeing these reviews of soap kits. It lets us know if it would be a good buy for a novice.
I LOVE these kit videos! I bought three Brambleberry kits (two of which you reviewed) and everything turned out great!
Thanks so much!!
I totally agree, Duchess. They should provide the instructions in the kit.
I love the videos that aren’t just Katie making the soaps she sells even if it’s another craft entirely or a review
I would totally dig watching them
Katie is a soap master queen! these turned out beautiful!! yes, yes, yes ...please...more soap kit reviews !
I would be interested in that too 😄💗
Yes! I would love to see more reviews of craft and soap kits!!!! Love your videos :) I’m a soap maker myself and I love your energy and creativity!!!
I am always amazed how beautifully done your soaps and videos are.
I really liked this video. I enjoy watching you make craft kits. You're personality mixed with the craft... mmuah..much... chefs kiss! Please continue to do more!
I love your soap kit review videos. You should make it a series!
Thank you so much!!
The scarf mold is so thick i can't unsee a snowman with 'barrel of monkey' arms 🙈🙈 It is incredibly cute though and the blue glitter is so beautiful!
😂😂😂
So cute! The blue sparkly reminds me of Cinderella.
Love to watch a professional roll up her sleeves and bring out the skilz. Thing of beauty 😁
