This #DIYGasm isn't a typical video in the series and I'm posting it to show people what happens when you don't listen to your own common sense or your friends and family when you're pushing yourself too hard. #Accidents can happen and I'm very #Lucky to walk away from this. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and we're going to go from there and yes, I will be making regular content as I have the last few weeks moving forward. Just going to keep it to mostly technology and low stress stuff.
UPDATE 9/26: Went to see doctor today and he did an EKG and went over the video footage and referred me to a cardiologist for a stress test. He said it looks like I was suffering from a lack of oxygen possibly by rebreathing CO2 from panic attack.
He said it could also be problems with my heart that could only show up under stress hence why I need to see the cardiologist. This is going to get very expensive but my wife and I are going to do whatever it takes to ensure this gets resolved. Love you all, even the people trolling with good intentions 👍

Dude.. I know that I don't "know" you, in person...but if climbing up a ladder is that big of a deal for you -- you really have to stop for a minute and take stock of your situation. Getting into better shape is no longer an option, it's a requirement now. Your boy, and your wife both need you around. Quit talking about it, and do it this time Jerry. This comes from the heart, and I don't mean to shame or belittle you at all, so please do not take it that way. Its a reality check, I'm sure. So don't dwell on it, don't even THINK about it -- just do it. Go longer each day, until you are at a couple hours of cardio every single day. Eat right, and don't skimp on the calories, so you can maintain your energy level. This is not really about weight loss, it's about your lungs and cardiovascular system, which are in a bad state from lack of regular and sustained activity. I wish you all the best. Hug your wife, she loves you. Hug your son, he loves you. Take care of your body, its the only one you get in life.

    • @kevinfisher1345

You say its cardio ... and it may or may not be. Could be vasovagal which has nothing to do with cardio, been there done that. Although once vagus nerve gets falsely triggered, anxiety just makes it worse and can even be the cause of the trigger itself. But I am sure his being overweight just compounds the issue and does not help at all. Not that I personally would know as I have a high metabolism, but am familiar with complications of being overweight having gone through that with my ex who ended up having gastric bypass. At any rate it is up to the experts to properly diagnose the issue. Overweight has lot of complications and potential high risk as it is, so definitely needs to be addressed as well.

This has been said to him many times..... by many different people..... in many different ways... from his doctors...... and psychiatrists..... people on UA-cam... other social media.... sadly he is incapable of making the real changes to his diet and behavior. I hope that he is able to change someday but I think it is only a matter of time before we lose him. At the very least I hope his life insurance is up to date so his family will be ok. Before everyone calls me an asshole regarding this comment you can save it. If the love of your family and children especially isn't enough for you to stop there is little hope anyone else will be able to convince him to change. It's a bummer but it is the reality of the situation.

@@jd52wtf Its really not that easy, weight loss can be severely impacted by depression and other psychiatric issues. I'll save you a few precious moments in the comments below 🖖
    1) I know I'm fat
    2) I know I need to lose weight
    3) No, the weight isn't responsible for this issue. I just had a full physical 2 months ago and an EKG that ruled it out.
... Now please leave a comment of value 👍
Thank you for watching and I'm sorry if this video seems so out of place compared to my regular technology and DIY style content. I didn't plan on posting this video after what happened but I thought it would be a good thing to do since so many people have been messaging me and I want them to know that I'm okay now and that I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow and will keep everyone updated on social media and over on *Patreon.com/barnacules* with my *JITR* updates.
Sorry for the scare, hopefully this video will stop someone from pushing too hard experiencing similar symptoms and prompt them to also get help!
I also would like to say that Mrs Barnacules protested me fixing the gutters from the moment I said I was going to do it and she fought me hard. I'm going to start listening to her because she was 100% right and had I just listened to her this wouldn't have happened in the first place. However, something good is coming of it in that I finally caught it on camera so I can show my doctor tomorrow and we can start to figure out what is wrong and change up some things and see if we can't get back to normal. I've already started exercising and will continue to every single day with my wife in the morning when we send my son off to school. I think a lot of these problems stem from the blood clot I had removed last year and the lengthy time I was on blood thinners but that combined with weight gain and low activity level due to pain has caused things to get worse. I genuinely hope this can all be fixed by just strengthening things by moving them every day regardless of my pain level.
I love you all, even the trolls that will blow up the comments section below about me being fat telling me I'm going to die. Trust me, I understand that is exactly what is going to happen given these new symptoms if I don't get my stuff together which I'm doing by publishing this video and going to the doctor tomorrow. I can't fix everything in a few days after releasing a video, so keep that in mind. But, if you still gotta rage go for it, I know you have your own problems and I don't want to put a muzzle on you if it some how makes you feel better offloading anger on me 🙏

Are you a doctor? You seem super judgmental over choices Jerry made. Here's the thing, it's Jerry's life, and Jerry's choices. The only person in a position to tell Jerry what to do is Jerry himself. Your advice is fine if Jerry had asked for it, or if it is advice for yourself, but don't think that you know what it best for someone other than yourself. It is great that you care about Jerry( as do I ) , but instead of being so critical, why don't you just say that your worried about him and hope that he gets the help and care that he needs. Period. Unless you have access to his personal medical records, and have the training to understand them, you are not in a position to be telling him what is , or is not wrong with his life and health.

You need to start taking care of yourself because I don't wanna wake up one day and find out that barnacules passed away. I got a weird feeling before I clicked play that that may happen soon. Your heart can't handle it. I know how hard it is to diet and exercise but that is the first step to preventing your untimely death. Slowly work yourself into the exercising though. Don't wanna give your heart more than it can handle. Really pace yourself. As for the diet, you don't have to diet per say. Just avoid soda, bread, sugar, and fast food especially. Eat home cooked meals. Doesn't have to be the diet healthy overpriced lean crap. Just meats and veggies. Avoid breads and pastas. Those are ok every now and then but cut back to like twice a month. Veggies will clean you out and meat will provide proteins you need to repair and restore tissues and cells. And drink lots of water. Water will regulate your blood flow and ensure that all the good stuff gets to where it needs to go in your body. Also, eat tomatoes as they are good for your heart. Greens for iron which is good if You get sleepy a lot and fall asleep too easily. Onions are also great for multitude of things. Cannabis is great for pain but it may give You the munchies. You must do this or you will surely die.

I would say that Barnacles needs to see both a cardiologist and a physical therapist and allow them to create an exercise program that is safe for his current state. Also, like you stated, he needs more fruits and veggies and to get rid of the sugar. I can speak from experience about just how @#$%ing hard it can be to beat a sugar addiction, but it can be done.
Barnacles, you have to make some changes and make them NOW... if you want to raise your children and see your grandchildren.

Taking the time to film, edit, produce, publish, and then debrief takes a lot of serious fortitude my man. You've given the world a glimps into what could have, admittedly, been a really bad situation. We can all learn from the mistakes of others, before we make those mistakes ourselves. Being strong enough to publish and admit you did something that you regret doing takes a lot of fortitude, and I can only say thank you for sharing.
If you would please, do us all a favor, take the following to heart because that is where its coming from. Please stop shaming yourself, you don't deserve it. Take the steps you need to improve your health, and know that there are people in your everyday life everyday, that love you, and want to see you succeed all the way, and need you. We all have flaws that we are all very self aware of. Please don't beat up on yourself, it only leads down a road of negative thought and that isn't good for anyone.

Jerry you have nothing to be apologizing for or otherwise. We are all human and all have a weakness or otherwise and for you to even attempt to do what you had done and show the whole story makes you even more down to earth then you can imagine.
I am sure most will agree that the good thing is that you had enough sense to understand the signs that your body was giving you and make an attempt to get down before something worse happened.
I can relate to how you feel to some extent as I have things to get done around the house but am unable to do so due to cervical spine stenosis and the pain that I have is unimaginable at times. I used to love doing Reno's and repairs and am now stuck with having to depend on others to help me out and unfortunately it does not make me feel good having to go to others when I was the one that they would come to.
I am waiting for surgery to get done and can tell you that free health care has it's downfalls cause it has been almost 3 months and surgeon still has not contacted me and I am now at a stage where I can no longer feel my thumb on my left hand as well as index finger and more due to nerve impingement.

"If you're watching this video, it mean's I've probably survived" Hahaha. That was funny.
Mrs Barnacules came and helped Jerry with his pole. That was funny in my head, but writing/typing it down, not so much.
Half way through the video, I'm holding my forehead and literally telling you not to, a video that was probably filmed Monday-Tuesday but Jesus, Jerry. You looked like you were in shock and needed to just give it a rest at just before 6:50. You need to listen to your wife from now on! A moment later, my thoughts were right. I suffer with similar issues but I'm not quite as bad and just saw something bad happening. I've almost fallen down the stairs a few times. I've had to sit down and just come down.
I've got to be extra careful as I am a single father, you got a wife and kid. Just if it's starting to get bad, till your health is a lot better, just don't. Stop filming, go rest, do a poop nap if you didn't poop already and find another way of tackling it. Make a something with the 3D printer that bends at an angle that you can attach to the rod and allows you to grab the gunk out of the gutters from the ground floor. Get a friend you trust that is handy to glue and sort out the gutter gap. There's always another way. This could also be a 2 part or so episode or more. Maybe a series? 3D printed objects that help around the house and makes life easier and possibly cheaper? Cheaper than hiring a handyman or trying to harm yourself.
Edit. My commenting was as the video was playing, to give my reactions as a viewer, so you can maybe get an idea of the mindset from this side of things? Saw on Twitter you're doing better, need to check your Patreon videos soon, already subbed there, just seldom get to catch up on a lot of things, as you can tell, my comment is over a day late. I'm sorry.

Scary as heck.
Maybe see if any of them are willing to do it whilst being filmed, and you can discuss what's needed to do this and have them do it on the video, Boom. You made money whilst also losing some but better than just losing money. Glad you're taking it easy :) The internet wouldn't be the same without you.

This is not a personal attack:....
The fat may not have caused the issue you have. But nevertheless I am 90% sure it facilitated the emergence of it in one way or another. Put down the goddamn carbs dude, all of them, there is no alternative. I walked 3 hours every day for a year and shed 70 pounds that way. YOU ARE MAKING EXCUSES. Liking only positive and encouraging stuff sets you in a bubble and makes you dishonest, ultimately slowing your channel growth. Jerry, it is doable, it takes a lot of work man, a lot of nights crying in bed, hungry and sore, but such is life I guess. Just 20 lbs makes a huge difference in mobility, try baby steps, but the best way is to make the jump into the cold water. If it's still there then there's a legit reason other than being fat. Don't be a snowflake, obesity kills and it should be taken very seriously. Ask any pre-obese person about how they used to feel before losing weight down to a normal healthy level and you'll be hard pressed to find a case where someone said their body felt better being fat and had less medical issues.

I mean he plugged his patreon stating that he only talks about his health issues there! WTF is that? Limits are limits; maybe not forever, but we all have them and that's OK. Keep up all that you do, man! The DIYGasms, the tech stuff, exercising, and family time.
    Cheers!

@@xinox73 I got turned away from a cardiologist after an EKG and a chemical stress test saying everything was fine 2 months before being rushed to the ER and having a quadruple bypass at 38 years old.

@@spaghettibeans in their defense neither of those tests would have shown in black and white that you had a blood clot..

@Flaven80 I'm grateful for people like ItsTaco123 that aren't little entitled trolls like yourself 🙏 There is a very good reason for keeping details on Patreon, because it means only people that care about me as a human will show up there. People that just are looking for content to troll in the comments like yourself won't be able to join because you need to keep your anonymous keyboard warrior status which makes it a wonderful place to be and communicate with real people. 👍
Thanks you @ItsTaco123 for joining! I'll make an updated JITR tomorrow after the doctors appointment.

Looks like that started with being exhausted due to a combination of weight and insufficient exercise and ended in a full blown panic attack.
The anxiety is something you can learn to handle. The other part, well you already know... Hope you get better.
It's good to do jobs like this though, and keep doing it! But take more breaks! Avoidance only feeds anxiety.

I'm glad that you're okay. The gutter was looking good for the portion you were able to get to and you are much braver than I. I know the effects fear and pain can have on your body, having not too long ago freaked out some nursing staff due to 'high' blood pressure that, once the pain was under control, went back to normal.
Keep up the work, stay safe, stay healthy and might I suggest chatting with the gutter guard people at Costco about a possible sponsorship, one that you can stand behind, as this has made me seriously consider chatting them up next time I see them. Don't like heights, don't like ladders and this is all the proof I need that this isn't a DIY project I ever need to attempt.
