Thanks for the video. I have a 2010 Navigator. The shocks went out on the lift gate. But when I replaced them the power lift didn't work. After watching your video I pulled the fuse (it wasn't blown) and put it back in. Then the gate worked. Awesome!
I have a 2010 Ford Edge that was partially submerged in flood water due to Hurricane Ian and I'm gradually fixing everything that's wrong with it (along with remodeling my whole house and getting a new roof). This was the last thing I needed to fix on the car and your video gave me the "courage" to take the motor apart. I had the exact same problem where a few of the gears were seized/rusted in place and was able to get it working again. You saved me $200+ that I couldn't afford due to all the recent expenses. Wow, you got guts, as you totally disassemble the drive motor and repair the internal bearing. It worked but it is a something no other mechanic would have done other than DIY. What a shop would have done is a new motor for $300.00, and labor for another $300. Good for you!
Awesome. I changed my liftgate supports and didn't know how to perform the reset. Your suggestion to remove the fuse for 20 seconds instead of disconnecting power at the battery worked! Yout saved me so much time not having to reprogram all the system settings. Thank you!

Wow. Great video. I’m gonna try an rig a manual unlatch trigger/cable to bypass all this elec b.s. on my ‘07 Expy. Too many things that can go wrong in “just trying to open a friggin door”

I have an 2007 very similar vehicle and my tailgate stopped working.
But unlike yours it won’t open at all.
When you pull the handle at the back nothing happens.
How did you get yours to open manually.
Do you have any idea to manually ion the power lift gate? I had a battery issue and replaced it and then the lift gate has become stuck closed the glass still pops open but the powergate seems to be stuck Not all the way closed and the lift gate ajar light is staying on and I cannot open it at all manually, I’ve checked all 3 possible fuses and they seem good I just cannot open it to try and reset it for some reason

Enjoyed the content I have the same vehicle, but my problem is trying to find a OEM key fob to replace the one I have so that I can remotely start an open and close my hatch without paying the dealer thousands can you tell me the part number for your fob.

Hey, I have a 2008 Expedition XLT, which doesn't have the power lift gate. Just reg liftgate. But I have checked the fuses and replaced the latch, but the liftgate doesn't open. The liftgate window works, but not the gate itself. What should I check next? Or what might be wrong? I purchased a control module, but I can find where it is located to swap out. Please help.

My truck is a XLT Model, it doesn't have the full power liftgate. It only have a latch and power module. There is nothing where your power module is located behind the panel, on the fuel cutoff side, driver side. Any info will help.

DIY Car Guy. I have a 2014 Ford Expedition. The power lift gate works when you use the remote and the button on the dash but the handle button does not work nor does the button directly inside the hatch to the left. Any suggestions?
I Have a 2010 Ford Expedition Limited. The tailgate will open and close using the button on the dash. The tailgate will open and close using the keyfob. But, when i press tailgate to open from the button handle at the tailgate, I can hear a noise but will not open. Additionally, the button on inside drivers rear quarterpanel to close tailgate will make the beep sound but will not close tailgate. The fuses are good in both the inside passenger side and under the hood. What else can I look for?
What if it makes a sound where the lock is? Almost like the lock isn't releasing the lock automatically and it won't go. That's where I hear the noise. Is that still the motor or is it the lock?
Yeah, I need to know how to reset the lock because it will latch for 1 second and then release (still would raise and lower with the buttons). It’s my fathers vehicle and he tried disconnecting the battery per the manual, now the entire lift gate won’t work lol
What exactly was your tailgate doing or not doing to where you knew there was a problem? Mine, when i push the tailgate open button, it does open my gate but it immediately slams shut instead of opening all the way up. Was this what was happening to you? If not, does that issue sound familiar to you? Also, for reference, I have this exact same same vehicle. Thanks

Replace your lift struts

@@shocfacter personally, if I'm going to replace one of replace all of them. 2 for the liftgate and 2 for the glass.

I have one for U!!! I have a 2018 Ford Expedition Platinum 😎. The tailgate will randomly open EXPECIALLY when exciting the vehicle. You want to make sure no one is standing around it or back up to something close as they or it may get hit😬. Really a nusance. Took it to a Ford Dealer and they said they could not find any fault codes. Could not make it happen while at dealers. 🙃🧐😬. Any idea what to tell the dealership to look at?🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
If it's when you're exiting the vehicle, check the accessory delay relay. It's in the interior fuse box. I just had to replace one that was causing all kinds of weird issues since it provides power to a bunch of stuff that is supposed to work after the car is turned off. The radio would stay on, the driver's side airbag light was on, the seat heater wouldn't turn off, the mirrors did weird things, etc. Replaced it and bam, no more issues.

😳 Power lift gates have come a LONG way. All of that going on just for the lift gate to power open and close! Today the open/close mechanism is small and built into the hinge. Not that huge arm that goes into the side of the interior!

So mine just suddenly stop working automatically. I press any of the buttons and the door tries to open, then makes a rattling noise, dings 3 times and doesn't open. If I open it manually it does the same when button is pressed to close.
I can't get the lift gate to open period. I went to the store and it worked fine. I got home and I couldn't get it to open.
Key fob don't work
Button on the dash don't work
Button in the back doesnt work
The button on the tailgate won't work
I had to pop open the window on the back to get bags out of the back.
I had the same problem but i bent the back seat and manually insert my finger into the lock and open it. but before, the thought came to my mind I have been so angry and frostrated

Need to spray some white lithium grease on each side that of that. You won’t have that problem again after you do that.
