Caixa vazada and repinique vazada (som doble) sound samples - IVSOM

It may not be possible to reinvent the wheel anew ... but it really looks like somebody has managed to invent a completely new type of Caixa and Repinique by merely replacing the solid corpus with a sturdy, bodiless construction.
The result is stunning: the familiar instrument with a completely new, extremely dry sound!
When visiting IVSOM in Rio de Janeiro recently we had the opportunity to already test and record the new instruments. This short video offers a first impression.
