No, you didn't kill a baby chicken, the eggs weren't viable. There's only a short amount of time that eggs can remain away from heat and obviously, grocery stores don't keep them warm. Also, grocery store eggs are unfertilized, roosters aren't necessary for chickens to produce eggs, so they don't keep them + they get into fights and can also stress out the female chickens. The little speck you saw in that egg is probably some bit of denatured protein or something, I'm not really sure what it is, I also sometimes get those in my eggs, but in fertilized eggs it looks much more like the little chord thing has a speck of blood at the end. When I was a kid, learned the hard way that it's much more complicated to hatch bird eggs, me and my mom cracked them open and thankfully we did it on the balcony, cuz we ran inside as fast as we could...
But, the silver lining is that it's totally possible to hatch them, if you get them from the right source and keep them in the recommended temperature range

That red speck is a blood spot. Caused by older hens a drop of blood landed on the yolk in the sack then a shell grew around it before it was laid. Also 21 days for chicken eggs to hatch. Love your videos !

My local grocery store (Trader Joe's) actually has fertile eggs.
I have no idea how old they are. I hear that's a factor.
Get the freshest eggs you can and let them get to room temp gently. (Not directly from fridge to incubator please.)
    I hope this works.

I enjoy your content but you do purposely stay ignorant? A lot of your “questions” you incorrectly assume an answer to are easily google-able. Like, you don’t even have to click on a link. Maybe the whole playing dumb thing is just for content. Who knows.
