Excuse me... Mr Beans holiday is a timeless masterpiece about love, loss, reunion and friendship and features the greatest experimental piece of media ever 'playback time' .
David Holgate Mark takes comedy films to seriously they aren’t meant to be Oscar winners , the films a good laugh and Rowan Atkinson is probably the best comedic actor out there
I’m with you guys, this is actually one of my favourite films :) Shot very well, great soundtrack, great acting, comedy is actually very good! The list goes on! :)
You have to remember that Mr Bean is a very different character in this film from all of the other media he appears in. The point of this film is not to have a laugh a minute, it’s to tell a very joyful story. I have seen the film over 150 times and it is still an absolute joy every single time.
Why Kermode hates this film I have no idea? It was a great, fun, family-friendly adventure with a weirdo who makes noises and grunts. Almost plays like a silent film.
If you think the first Bean film is better than this one - then frankly you have lost credibility. The first film had a written script of overbearing dialogue - wrong! Wrong! Wrong!....... the idea of throwing him into a situation where none of the characters can communicate due to the language barrier gives this film exactly what the first one didn't- its a visual comedy not a vocal one. Yes it is true, you either like or hate Mr Bean - but thats true of slapstick in all eras - but to suggest that Rowan Atkinson doesn't understand how slapstick works is like saying Mark Kenmore doesn't u destiny film.... he clearly does - but on this occasion has missed the point completely.
I don't get why they force children into storylines. Executives think that child audiences like seeing children in movies. I never did. I always found it annoying
Plus it implicitly teaches British children who can’t really speak other languages well can learn bits of French and about French culture and cinema with Festival de Cannes.
Timothy Wilkes He was a great Green Goblin yes. He's been in a lots of good things besides those films such as Anticrest, American Psycho, To Live and Die in LA, and The Hunter.
Of the two films, the first film would really be the funniest, but I think it was bogged down by the fact that there were a few scenes from the original cut that should've been kept in the final cut to hold an impact on a later scene. This one, I don't think was trying to be funny, I think they were trying to tell a story with this one.
The first film wasn't good. Both are OK albeit uncomfortable to watch which, for the most part, the original TV programme wasn't. Rowan Atkinson is a great actor though, don't get me wrong; the films he's in just aren't always so good.
The only part i laughed at in this film was when he was pulling faces on the train and the foreign guy just stared at him. Overall it wasn't a very good film, the first Bean would've been better if it wasn't americanised.
I hated the movie and the whole joke about Mr Bean saying "Gracias" about 30 times was just irksome. Also, when Mr Bean causes the boy and his father to separate, you just hate Mr Bean for doing that. And that scene in the shed was just pointless.

"I laughed once and I think it was by mistake" has to be the most withering one-line review of a film I've ever heard.
‘Willem Defoe, who’s a perfectly fine actor, sometimes...’
I don’t think Mark has ever been more wrong about anything.
Seriously, this is one of my favourite films :) Shot very well, great soundtrack, great acting, comedy is actually very good! The list goes on! :)
I actually find it a real feel good movie.

Kermodes immitation of Mr.Bean sounds like Jeff Goldblum vomiting on those donuts in The Fly

He did say "my flexible friend" in that weird voice on the TV show version. But, this stunk the cinema out.
And 'Slow down, I'm coming'
great great movie!

The ending is sweet. I assume a lot of people my age have nostalgia from catching this on TV
William was great in Speed 2. It was by far his best ever performance.
I only remember the Carson Clay gag and just how damn cute Emma de Caunes is, not much else sadly
No one can fault Rowan Atkinson's allround genius though.
it's a poor film, but that final scene with 'la mer' playing is a triumph.
Love the Alexei Sayle quote!

Ten times better than the first bean film, a great film in fact
You can't take mr bean that seriously
The contempt in Mark's voice
I don't get why they force children into storylines. Executives think that child audiences like seeing children in movies. I never did. I always found it annoying
I thought the kid was fine in this movie.

Defoe's a great actor Mark! I would love to hear that interview with Simon to hear how he justifys showing up in this pile of rubbish. HAHA!!
Bored Now He was great in Platoon, quite liked him as Norman Osbornes Green Goblin.
Timothy Wilkes
He was a great Green Goblin yes. He's been in a lots of good things besides those films such as Anticrest, American Psycho, To Live and Die in LA, and The Hunter.
Bored Now I forgot about Anti Christ which put a trippy scary twist on the Adam and Eve story
I remember Defoe being on Radio 2 to promote this film and he genuinely seemed bemused as to why he was in the film!

The first Bean movie is hilarious IMO. Beans Holiday was such a letdown.
i felt this was more of a kids movie compared to the American one. I would of liked it when I was 10.
*would have. You *would have* liked it when you were 10.
@nazirkazi2588 would of is would've, not would have, don't be pretentious

I find him creepy, his odd smiley face with big bulging eyes just freaks me out.
Stay the fuck away from Michael Gove then
oy leave Mark alone!
Mr Bean's Holiday should have been renamed Mr Bean, In Search of Cash.
Mr. Bean's virat kohliday
Jacques Tati > Buster Keaton > Charles Chaplin > Mr. Bean
Why is he so against Cannes?
Tom Bentley he never gets invited to the film festival.
Jake Nevin because he stood up at a Las Von Trier screening of his film the idiots and blurted out obscenities
5:43!
The only part i laughed at in this film was when he was pulling faces on the train and the foreign guy just stared at him. Overall it wasn't a very good film, the first Bean would've been better if it wasn't americanised.
The first one wasn't too bad. This one is really lame.
I hated the movie and the whole joke about Mr Bean saying "Gracias" about 30 times was just irksome.
Also, when Mr Bean causes the boy and his father to separate, you just hate Mr Bean for doing that.
And that scene in the shed was just pointless.
This is the most I've disagreed with Kermode.
mr beans for kids really
@ec123456789able I have, though not nearly as many as badhead.
I find mister bean disgusting and annoying. I’m glad I’m not alone.
