Thank you so much for making this video! It’s so kind of you to take the time to listen to me 😊
Bravo, Tom! Wonderful to hear you for the first time, and wishing you the best going forward!
A fast growing fan base Mr. Ball...and that includes me!!! Stay GOLDEN!
Patiently waiting for Tom balls tour
Tom, I have not attended a concert in 35 years! And I've seen some of the notorious artists over the years. If you ever come to Seattle, I will be there to cheer you on. 💝🎶💖
if you dont win, its rigged lol
Thoroughly enjoyed hearing this man sing for the first time! Should I keep making videos for him throughout the competition?
Yes!
Oh hell yea keep reacting to him! His version of creep is so good!!
Yes please
Yes, please!! Tom is fantastic.
Tom's rendition of 'I who have nothing' on Britain's Got Talent was incredible. Would love to see your critique.
I'm a speech pathologist, and I am also a musician. Hearing both your analysis of his voice and vocal chords along with the musicality of his performance was amazing. Great reaction.
thanks so much! Glad you appreciated the analysis :]
Hi Laura I am interested in your thoughts on Diana Ankudinova and her abilities and physiology ?
I'm originally from England and I have to say I am so very very proud of Tom. Back in 1965 when when I was just a kid in England 2 very distinct voices started popping up on the radio. Everyone oohed and aaahed over them. They were Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck. Almost 60 years later Tom Ball is without a doubt in their league. He didn't win but yet he did ! If he includes this song on his first album I predict it will go platinum. Thanks for your great insight Peter.
I do enjoy hearing you sing to illustrate harmony choices, those of us with no musical theory background are really aided by the examples.
Thank you Peter. Tom also did Creep which it equally amazing. He has a great range and pure tone as well as being totally adorable as a person. I hope he goes far - he deserves to.
Great listening to how it's done.Tom. is great.,thank you Peter for your video.❤💯
.
He won the competition!
Finally figured out how to subscribe! Am 84 year old technophobe. Been watching you for over a month. Have also watched others who critique. You are the best. What I have learned is so exciting. Have always loved music (am a piano player). With what I have learned I am now listening to all my favorites from the past 65 plus years! What a gift you have given me. No longer bored. Thank you.......
It is so nice to just watch you...Forgive me being direct.. Your speaking voice is absolutely amazing.
This randomly came up. Watched the whole video and really enjoyed it.
Got to admit, even as an amateur I can tell the moments he’s staying within his comfort zone. At the start. Very smart and he does it in a classy way.
This guy is going to be massive one way or another. I can see him in theatre one day
Thank you for explaining to me the wonders of Tom Ball. I am blown away by the skill and clarity of his voice.
Damn! I actually got chills when Peter sang the high part in harmony with Tom!
Thank the music gods, someone who really knows what there talking about. Kudos to you. Tom went to drama school, and you can tell.
Tom ball's version of the sound of silence is on UA-cam Music with an extended ending in which he goes a bit higher.
I have been watching Tom Ball on repeat, love him and his story
My church choir director a few years ago was an opera singer and we learned a huge amount from. I loved your reaction. Tom Ball is a 24 year old secondary school teacher.
He is a freaking music teacher him self . He is great
Every time I hear Tom Ball sing, chills run up and down my spine! He draws his listeners into the lyrics, unable to escape, while enjoying the forceful passion he puts in each note! Tom is just …. AMAZING!
The Control and How he can Orchestrate his Vocals ...Mezmorizing A Superstar Indeed !!!!
Really interesting to get your perspective. I learnt a lot. Big fan of Tom Ball.
12:15 - what you did there, singing together like that, your voices together, the harmony. Oh man! 💙💙 I don't know much about signing, I just know what I like and don't like. This I *loved* ! 💜 This is a tiny little evidence that, for me at least, the world can be a beautiful place. So thank you for that.
I just love ❤ Tom and this song brings goosebumps and chills and touches my soul to the core 💖 amazing beautiful voice the world loves you ,I wish he had of won 🏆 ❤ good luck tom
Thank you. I am a 73 year old lead tenor as I was always called, who has sung in choirs, groups, gospel quartets, and soloist starting in the 5th grade. In all these years I have never been able to read music. For the first time I actually understood your explanations. Unfortunately I no longer sing in public due to my voice fading due to my Parkinson’s. I sing at home so no one can hear me struggle. I have 3000 vinyls to listen to. Do you do any reactions to Dimash?
You should check out Tom Ball's Britain's Got Talent songs. I think he sang three times - all three were amazing. He came in second place to a comedian on Britain's Got Talent.. I think he should have won. He sang a second song this week on America's Got Talent - " "Creep", another great performance by Tom. I enjoyed your comments!
Peter, in Tom’s last performance he ended on D5 that was so powerful, and perfectly placed. Well done @tomballoffical We have all heard this song a million times. It was Tom’s version and DISTRUBED’s version both that gave me chills and tears.
Another great analysis. The more I know the more I appreciate. Thanks, Peter!
You should also react to "I, who has nothing" he did in de final of the BGT.
Tom Ball is one of my favorite vocolists. Every song he did through BGT/AGT were amazing. Thanks for sharing this.
Glad to see you’re doing well Peter! Awesome news on the new flat, onwards and upwards 😉
The note you labeled as D just did it for me. It was such an amazing sound to hear!
Learned so much and had some memory nudges from a wee bit of training 100 years ago! My daughter and i have a friend who is a trained Irish Tenor and i look forward to listening to him now with wiser ears. Thank you!🙏
💙☘️🥀
Checkout “I Who Have Nothing”. Tom performed this in the Finals of BGT. This performance, to my untrained ear, sounds like he takes his voice quite a bit higher than in some of his other performances .
You Peter, as well, have an amazing voice! Oh what I would give to hear you and Tom do a duet. I like the fact that you appreciate another’s talent. One can see it as you are explaining the notes or the range. It is like you are enjoying his talent and it is giving you joy.
Love his voice. Glad you did a reaction and analysis it was great. Thanks Yes I would like to hear more from him.Dorothy.( Grandma 77yrs North East England ) x
I can't sing my way out of a box but I LOVE these analysis .... when I heard the version of this song sung by David (Disturbed)... I was blown away and have been a huge fan of these type of critiques ever since. Enjoyed it and I did learn something but I think you are asking this from actual singing folks and not us little peons who can't sing a lick!! LOL!!
Hugh fan from Australia. Thank you for all the hard work you have put in to make us have goosebumps. 😊
I watched TOM IN BGT…AGT ..AND NOW IN SPAIN ALL STARS ⭐️ he is just amazing 🤩 thank you so much xx
This was a special tenor to hear. I hope we get to hear more from him, and watch him grow as an artist. Will keep an ear to the ground for more.
I was in a choir which had sang for Queen Elizabeth. Our music director is world famous. We had a concert coming up, and the other (assistant) music director, decided to put me in the base line. I explained to her, the only way I can sing bass is if I had a cold. Well, through the rehearsals, I could fit into the bass line. When the concerts came, I was over my slight cold and my voice returned to normal. After the concert, I got heck from members of the bass line for being in the bass line. "You should be in the tenor section." I agreed. Nonetheless, I had audience members come up to me after the concert to tell me what a beautiful voice I had. Not all music directors make good decisions. Why the main music director never said anything to the assistant director, I will never know. Being you are in the bass line I had to share that little story.
Things I didn’t know about the sounds of silence. Very interesting to hear what you explained about Tom Ball’s performance. By the way your voice sounds beautiful as well and would love to hear you perform.
Thank you so much. I know nothing about singing teqnique, so this was really interesting.
I love his version of Creep too. Never heard this song so listend to the original.
Also Josh Grobens version.
I love the emotion that comes out of his voice, it gives me the chills, job done.
Gawd I love music coaches who know what they're talking about! You're extremely talented Peter, I enjoyed this critique very much!
You have to hear him sing Creep...Loved that song and love how he sang it....
Its a pure joy to watch at you when your body and emotion is feeling the music and song of Tom🙂
I always learn something when I watch a video of yours.
Best reaction video I've seen. Great job
@PeterBarber43 what number?
Loved this from a musical and technical point of view, so informative. Favourite part is Peter's reaction to Tom hitting that high note like a proud Dad. "HIT IT" and then that nod of approval. So good.
A really informative analysis of this young talent. Your new space suits you.
What a voice !! OMG tom.. I live in Indonesia, and I'm a big fan of you Tom, I watch your videos again and again,, you are spectacular, your voice is extraordinary, your high notes so powerful, your headvoice so booming... You get a goldenbuzzer gift before your wedding, wow its very special moment!!🎉👏👌👍
Disregard the critics. I LOVED your analysis of the song. Well done sire.
Thank You for your precious analysis. I really appreciate.
I love your voice, and how honest you are with your critique. That is the sign of a true professional! Wish I could do lessons with you.
That was a fantastic reaction, and for once welcomed the pauses to listen to your thoughts and experience throughout, brilliant, thank you
Thank you for doing your videos. I am trying to improve my singing and your insight is very helpful. I see Tom actually thanked you himself. That's very cool!
Just found Tom’s video- very enjoyable to listen to. First time to see a review by you. Thank you for breaking it down and giving us the pro’s perspective. As an amateur baritone voice, I always listen to tenors with such envy.
I'll never understand a baritone's envy of a tenor. I'm a female who loves the sound of a baritone and a bass voice, even for speaking. They're more masculine and definitely are more attract-ive to my feminine sensibilities. It's hard wired at a biological level.
Contgrats on the move
Thank you Peter. There is always so much to be gained from these videos you share. I truly appreciate your attention to vocal techniques and especially the physiology involved.
Great analyze! ❤️ Love how you show with your own voice what is special with his voice and technique.. I think you should also analyze his version of Creep by Radiohead from the same program. He is using a much darker and sadder side of his singing there.
What you call the grit and edge in his voice is what makes him stand out and also makes him more approachable. Sometimes a high, sharp and clear voice can be kind of cool and distant for us listeners. But the grit, together with his theatrical singing style where he always is “living” the song makes the notes tremble not only in his chest, but also in the chest and heart of us listeners.
When I hear him in this song, I think of these hard rock singers from the 70’s and the 80’s. The ones that sang power ballads hitting high notes with grit in their voices and sweeping us away emotionally.
I've watched a lot of reaction videos and you, by far, are my favorite. I normally don't like all the pausing, but the information you're putting out is intriguing, and captivating. Thank you.
Being a musician and not a singer I loved your break down of Tom's vocals. I find these videos very interesting and informative. Amazing work.
Congrats on your move!
I've seen lots (LOTS) of this first time reaction. but this one, sir, BRAVO!
Love to hear your critique on Toms finale song Creep.
I would never have bothered to have listened to Tom without your coverage. Thanks again. Yes, I AM considering Patreon after I figure out how to pay for my absurd $400 rent hike in my crappy apartment. You are on my list!
It’d be great to have you in the Patreon family!
Another terrific singer...thanks for the analysis!
Awesome voice, wasn't forced and so easy to listen to. A clearer voice I haven't heard in many years. Stunning.
Peter in my humble opinion, just your speaking voice makes me think you are a great singer. Before we sing, we talk. Your voice is so rich beckoning to sing. Opera? Exactly. Cheers.
I love Tom but your voice Peter is also absolutely beautiful. I’ve been listening to your renditions.
Listen to his "I Who Have Nothing" song on BGT. and now his CREEP on AGT !!!! My favorite is his I who have nothing song !!!!!
I really enjoyed your break-down of Tom Ball’s voice style. It was very educational.
God blessed me with the ability to work with my hands, the voice, however, not so much. I so wish I could sing but I wouldn't have given up my woodworking talent for it. Thank you for teaching me more about what's going on with the voice. A new Patreon, even though it will have to be on the lower end since living on disability really bites in to the budget. Please do more on Tom Ball, he really has a great voice from what few songs I've heard him sing.
One thing I REALLY like is how when you unpause the video you are reacting to/analyzing, it goes back a couple of seconds so that we can hear that part again. Fantastic detail, thank you!
Came across your video by chance. I love Tom Ball and I love reaction videos - if they don't stop and start all the time.
BUT - I was transported back decades to music class and really appreciated your analysis. You gave substance and context to the comments, which have them value.
I will definitely subscribe, and will at least check out your Support site
First time on your channel, fascinating analysis, really enjoyed!
This feels to me as a truly honest commentary and analysis of an outstanding performance by a rising star. Thank you Peter for the breakdown and insights on Tom Ball's audition. The method and tone of your commentary feel honest and real to me, with specifics, examples and your own demonstrations that add valued insights and appreciation to what I believe to be an truly ICONIC performance by Tom Ball.
A nice analysis, well done. After i listening a few times heard those variances as well, he puts much effort to each song so far. It's probably the way how he sings which is very impressive. Really hope we will hear more, remarkable talent!
His BEST Song was on BGT "I Who Have Nothing" so very AMAZING. Plus he has a really good CREEP version on AGT.
First time to drop by here and I really appreciate how you eloquently educate me how to spot a great and beautiful voice. And congratulations to you new place.
He is fabulous you must see his interviews!
I'm on repeat with Tom❣❣
Check out his performance of Creep in the AGT finals
Enjoyed your analysis. I watched this all the way lol. I learned something
If you loved Tom’s tenor voice, you must listen to David Phelps singing O Holy Night live. Incredible voice!
Peter, I love the way you analyzed the song, so honest to goodness, great!
Peter I love seeing your face when you see talent. You yourself are so talented.
Look at Tom singing I who have nothing.... that is sensational.
Thank you for this analysis.
You identify and describe things in a way that can be understood and appreciated by anyone.
Its like you're a sommelier for sound.
Enjoyed the video.
Thanks.
Fascinating! Really enjoyed your video. A whole new understanding of music for me.
Have you heard him sing Creep? Stellar performance! I truly love hearing him sing.
Thank you so much
Great watching you breaking it down.
I love your analysis and I love Tom’s voice a d passion in his delivery. He did mor training and Sang Creep fir the finals. Is performance was spectacular as he San sever series of Lon notes and moved them uand down. It gave me chills. Listening to makes breath netter amd feel strong and happy.
I saw this on TV live it was incredible
Enjoyed your analysis and have listened to and watched the video a lot. Thank you
I have been trying to understand what it is about Ball's rendition that almost soothes the soul, and you explained it perfectly. It's just a consistently smooth sound, almost effortless despite all the effort. Thanks!
If you think this is good, you should hear Tom Balls professional video of this song. He gets even higher.. Awesome singer!!
That was a very good version and the pictures on it of homeless people on it made me cry. Tom did a good version of CREEP a few days ago.
The Creep song was awesome..
My favorite Sound of Silence is this one. His video of it is amazing.
I’m no singer, but this is fascinating.
I wish u cud check out on Tyson Venegas too. He got the only platinum ticket of the American Idol.
I really loved the educational side about this I def learned a lot. I loved this cover of the song
Great video and analysis, thank you!
