Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Live 2021

- 5 years after the viral video of me playing this song in the orchard solo, I now have a band and we tour regularly. This year we captured some live songs and this was one of them. I hope you enjoy the new sound of this classic song with some instrumental twists.
Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." Ted is a National Hammered Dulcimer champion. He’s released seven beloved and critically acclaimed solo albums, and become a master educator of the instrument.
Ted has been profiled in the Kearney Hub, Huffington Post, and on NPR’s All Things Considered show, among many other features, profiles, and reviews in regional and
national tastemaking outlets. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Ted became something of a household name when a Facebook Live video of him from his Live From The Orchard series playing Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” went viral. The video rocketed up to 53 million views in four days.

I remember finding your page when I was a senior in high school, when you were just playing out in the yard. Now this pops up years later… so amazing how times pass for people and how much we grow on a daily basis. So happy for your success and wish you many years more.
Thank you Jeff. Much appreciated.
Love the addition of the marimba and drumset!
I hope Curt and Roland see this! Great job!
Have you seen this video of Curt singing with him? Really cool!

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard a dulcimer player doing something really different from the usual trad stuff. Nice use of the dampers. I don’t have dampers on my dulcimer because I just saw them as a way of changing the timbre. Never before thought of them as a way to give emphasis.
Thank you Ruth.
Hearing creative players doing new things has gotten me interested in playing again.
I really liked that the group played together. It sure added to the song. Thanks for sharing.
Just wow! Hammer dulcimer and marimba. Thankyou people that was wonderful
Thank you Mike. Much appreciated.
2:45 This part always gets my heart pumping, its so beautiful.
It's got so many moments. TFF did such an incredible job with this song.
This is one of the most unique and amazing things on UA-cam and I just shared it to Facebook and a couple friends

This is great! The orchard session with Curt Smith is one of my fave videos - so great!
Thank you and me too. I wish I could live that moment again. Love that man.
@@TedYoderMusic Super awesome moment - hopefully we will see it again, until then I watch that clip often - makes me smile every time - love it.
@@TedYoderMusic DId you ever record something with them? You totally should!
Fantastic! Peggy in Michigan
Thank you Peggy.
I’ll admit I didn’t think you needed a band but this ensemble has definitely won me over, and in particular, I fondly remember seeing all in person in Hudson, WI, a couple of years ago. The river as a backdrop and the family gathering on the grass made it all extra special. Your dulcimer playing is of course the heart of the magic. Long may you play on.
That was a great place to play and yes, I'm trilled to have a band when I can.
My 80s jam. I loved the video with Curt singing. This recording is so cool.

I watched the original video when I was in college. Searched it up yesterday and was pointed to this. Nice arranging and editing
Thank you Taylor.
it got better... i dint think it was possible, but ti got better. Loved the original video and this is just amazing
Thank you. It was a lot of fun to work up this version of the song too.
This is absolutely beautiful 🤩 So well executed by the whole band. Glad you fixed the phrasing in the verse compared to the 2016 version. This version takes it to a whole higher level. The xylophone is a powerful addition. Sharing.
Thank you.
New fan here, brilliant cover.
Awesome. Thank you.
I saw this performed on the PBS show "Woodsongs" and was absolutely blown away! So much great talent out there and people are wasting their time and money on Taylor Swift!
😂 thank you. Appreciate the kudos.
📈
Love the graphic and I hope it’s prophetic. 🤣🤙
Ted, that was great! You are doing so well! What kind of hammers are you using? Ty for the video!
Thank you Pat. Those are Sam Rizzetta carbon fiber hammers. He doesn’t make them anymore.
@@TedYoderMusic Thank you for the reply! I am so glad you are doing so well now!
Hey Ted - where did you get the click bar for your dulcimer?
Not sure what you mean by click bar? Dampers or tuning wrench maybe?
@@TedYoderMusic sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology. The thing you’re using for the backbeat click sounds in Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Is that just the tuning wrench?
