The workaround space / fake space also takes less computing power than letting the machine compute a whole "galaxy". Makes things easier for the low end gamers in my opinion and yeah..it´s more cost effective :D And I gotta give them respect for being that creative.

DLC Plan#1: You just got home and everyone cheered. The General( or some leader of alterra) congratulate you and tells you that you owe them $1trillion. since and maybe you don't have it the leader tells you to go back and explore it some more to get them more knowledge about the planets biome, hence the arctic.
DLC Plan#2: You get home and everyone cheered. The leader of alterra congratulate you for returning home. Then he said that to not worry about the money since you life is not worth the price. But he tells you to go back to the planet because they might have recived some distressed signals at the arctic part of the planet that they maybe some survivors are there. Since you've been there and survive the leaders tells you go back to the planet and see if there are survivors.
This is what i think... what do you guys think?
Thorrezz maybe your character is actually someone different then the one fom the main story line, it takes place before the aurora crashes and you get shot down and land in the Arctic biome,
Or when you leave the planet it turns out that there actually was a second gun... In the arctic biome and then you get shot down and land in the arctic biome
The other Character idea may not be too bad.. you crashed there before the aurora and sometime while surviving you saw that there is a rocket flying away(neptune rocket) and decide to do the same.
He actually made it back to alterra so i debunked the 2nd one. But could still be like a frozen GUN in the arctic.
Thorrezz But since you and the planet is already cured,it would be too easy to shut down the second gun and make another rocket. Although,it is possible for the arctic biome to not have as much materials as the normal biomes.

I think that since the computer tells you you're literally not allowed to land unless you pay 1 trillion credits and the onboard AI is the one controlling the ship not you, once the ship realizes that you cannot settle your debt it will just return you back to planet 4546b, where you end up crash landing in the arctic biome since your shield was heavily damaged from leaving the planet and definitely wasn't designed for re-entry.
Anthomnia: Arctic Biome is going to be the new DLC.

If i was coming back to earth after like 10,000 near death experiences...and they want 1,000,000,000,000,000 out of me...i would beat their ass, or even better, make a small robot like the mars rover that knows how to swim and activate the quarentine enforcement platform, tell alttera that there is a lifetime supply of money there, but you can only get there with a rocket...so alttera goes to the subnautica world, gets shot down with only a rocket on their hands, and while there being striked down, you totally hyjack all of alttera...

build a ship yard that can repair the aurora. ShipYard 'biome' would replace Aurora 'biome' after a cutscene of Ship being fixxed,since you could no longer enter the same way. Ship would be accessed by ShipYard ladder,Nd you would have to go to each part of the ship to activate reactors and such after stocking them before finally heading to the bridge. Materials = Hard Ending Bonus:Drop the bill on the company as ship maintenance. ha
Build a private ship ,avoid returning to civilization to explore the galaxy instead,skipping the bill they would drop you with... activation process would be similar to auroras but on ship half its size. Materials: = Extreme Ending. Bonus:Take the time to customize your ship's rooms and stock the private aquarium.

You are forgetting the equipment you are using all game, the fabricators ect, are all alterra stuff, if you owed them money, i'm sure the PDA can shut down all use of the objects, they aren't yours, they are alterras :p.
It already has control of what blueprints are available, and it implies there is far more there, but it contextually only gives you things necessary for survival, and escape. nothing else.
So basically, this ship isn't yours, i doubt your character has any control over it, beyond hitting launch as a "I'm ready"

They're rotating the sky box around so that's why everything looks so weird, the giant orange planet is underwater and the sun is below you
the entire Skybox is just spun around and they've spawned props into the sky
When I launched my rocket, it glitched on my Cyclops and launched my character 2000M into the void... so that was pretty fun :D

At the very end of the end cutscene the computer voice welcomes you back to Alterra, and says you will be cleared to land as soon as you resolve your outstanding balance of a trillion dollars. It's a callback to the the audio the first time you pick up diamond, which says you are responsible for reimbursing Alterra for any materials used to survive.
Well, you do find quite a few alien technologies which improve everything and scan them, those should be worth quite a bit.

I was the first to discover the arctic biome when the devs added them to the game files, so you are right. The community had a lot of ideas for the arctic biome. They originally had the map under aurora called arctic and some area outside the island. I was really hoping they add arctic and coop gaming. But still, have my Hull Frame with ID, love it.
It would have been cooler if you actually had to go out into space to repair the neptune and there was some sort of obstacle like a space leviathan Or a precursor ship

i played the lift off scene with the oculus so this allowed me to look around the area while the scene is playing where as a mouse and keyboard wouldn't allow you to i was next to the gun on lift off so when i was in space i looked to the side of me and the gun was still there. I am assuming that this will also work with other cut scenes by looking around in vr.

2011's was meant to be a prequel not a reboot, even though its still inferior to the 1990's one. That said, advanced strains of the Kharaa virus altering life in ways of a similar nature could be cool, especially since the Peepers carrying the Sea Emperors enzymes likely never made it to the arctic to suppress it like they did in the games current play area.

I think the glitch where the platform tipped over was because of the ending and how the rocket base moves with the surrounding. That would also explain why the base needs to be in deeper water so it can tip without going through the map
Anthomnia, the "high points" you spoke of are actually the orbital veiw view of the aurora (the darker one on the middle) the floating island (thefarthest one down) and the gun platform (the farthest one up)

Did you know we don’t enter our home planet? We just orbit the planet until we “pay the one trillion credits we owe” because of all the resources we gathered on “Alterra’s” planet, which furthers the theory we go back and survive longer.

It is actually possible. I mean since you see it in the last second before you blast off. Also it would be really cool like maybe another ship crash lands and your life pod crash lands in the arctic. Then you have to use cold resistand clothing, maybe you repurpose seamoths and stuff with belts to travel on snow and ice or perhaps they add some entirely new vehicles and gear. I'd be down for it

Well, that's basically how every game does it. You only build the things the player needs to see. Everything else can be left out. Try noclip in any shooter and you'll see some crazy creative solutions to save on computing power.

the developers have confirmed that they are working on an artic DLC as one of their new updates. They have also confirmed they are making it easier to install public made DLC into the game, such as the Nirox DLC (Multiplayer)
Ive seen this in 2019 when the early access to Subnautica : below zero is. And your actually right. The below zero was the arctic biome.

If they make this into a DLC there has to be something keeping us there on the planet. yeah it could be funny with all the building you did that you have to pay it back (the PDA at one point says you owe such and such) so maybe your character boss says there something on the planet and seeing how we have been the only one to leave the planet. we have the most experience. but again this lead us to one point.
A) what would truly keep us there? If say we can leave at any point realistic we could leave at any point, no gun to shoot us down. Unless there a reason for us to stay down there...like a alien weapon that could be considered a failsafe that could blow up the system (like a working Doomday device)
B) There had indeed been some survival people from ether our ship or the one before. I know there was a hired gun in the last ship, but we don't know If she died, the old man just said "i last saw her being dragged away" or something like that. what if she and others are alive and it's up to us to try and find them?

Whats the betting that the arctic dlc is gonna have another alien defence platform that shoots down your neptune rocket as you try to escape the aurora zone, forcing you to crash into the ice
but when you shut down the enforcement platform, i would assume that all other enforcement platforms would become inactive as well. I'm judging this off of the fact that the Warpers don't come after you once you shut it down. I could be wrong though.

I got a late theory. Maybe your going back but something in the arctic biome grabs you somehow. It then brings you back and throws you down to that biome. You have to try to find the thing that is pretty much a magnet. Tbh, it sounds cool.

Little idea of what happend.. i once saw report like "after few weeks of not talking to anyone, your sanity is breaking" so maybe player's character gets crazy/hopeless and makes that simulation of getting from 4546B or smth? and maybe sea emperor just dies and sends her last thought to player..
