Here are my favorite cheap eats: Alicia's Market (ginger wasabi poke and roast pork is so delicious), Zippy's (chilli on rice, saimin, oxtail), Steak Shack at Fort DeRussy ($8.00 steak with rice and salad by the beach), Pioneer Inn (get their plate lunch or their loco moco / the best), Kamehameha Bakery (get the poi malasadas and poi haupia), Ted's Bakery (garlic shrimps), Marukame Udon (nikutama udon), Monsarrat shave ice (Japanese shave ice in a small alley), Fresh Catch (shoyu poke is really good here), Henry's place (homemade ice cream), Roast duck kitchen Aiea, $5 Bento box Ala Moana.
Tanioka's fish patty and poke, Alicia's Market for poke, roast meats and roast beef, Kamehameha Bowl Restaurant in the Kamehameha Shopping Center for oxtail soup.
Oh man! Leonard’s malasadas are the Bomb! We went there every day, twice a day sometimes, not ashamed to admit it. You are so correct - best to down them immediately, not later. And Giovanni’s shrimp truck - good enough to go there on a day it was monsoon raining.
We loved Boots and Kimo's so much we went twice. Their loco Moco was delicious. Their banana pancakes with macadamia sauce were the bomb. The pulehu ribs breakfast was the best. 😋
Some personal faves....Poke on Da Run-Pearl City, Paala'a Kai bakery-Waialua, Papa Ole's Kitchen/Gord's Smoke Prime Rib-Hauula(next door to each other), Stonefish Grill/Kua Aina burgers/Storto's Deli/Cholo's Mexican/Big Wave Shrimp/Surf n Salsa/Malai Thai-Haleiwa(ALL W/in walking distance!) The Smoking Boar & The Coconut-/Jerry's Pizza Mill-Waialua....
We just moved here in November. I recommend Fumi’s shrimp. Giovanni’s is similar and a little cheaper but way busier. Fumi’s gives you a little slice of pineapple along with the shrimp and rice and it’s much quicker and less busy.
Just visited Oahu for the first time. Picked that island because it had the most breweries. Lol and I really liked the BBQ at Waikiki Brewing Company. Not traditional Hawaiian by any means, but I don't like sweets or poke so a lot on this list just weren't for me. Great video amigo!
Bruddda, Foodland for poke? No no no & no. In a pinch, ok. Maguro Brothers in downtown or Tanioka's in Waipahu are upper echelon for poke (especially Maguro Bros) Domo Cafe downtown, another winna.
I've been to Maru Kame Udon in Japan. It was not half as good as the one in Hawaii. I wait in the line no matter how long it is. There is no substitute for that taste. Eunice is so hot!
atop with hthe fad on ramen...you want saimin...go to Zippy's and eat SAIMIN (love their broth)..or go to Palace Saimin in Kalihi, or Shige's Saimin in Wahiawa...for poke, Kahuku Superette at the back of the store...
You can certainly see Waikiki and the surrounding area without a car. If you want to venture further out I’d recommend getting a car for those days. Be mindful that you’ll likely need to pay to park your car overnight in Waikiki
Hey there. Don’t have itineraries since everyone is a little different but I do have a list of my favorite things to do in Oahu. Enjoy ua-cam.com/video/xll89JJvCUM/v-deo.html
I just went to Oahu last week (June 2021), I followed your recommendations and I was extremely disappointed. Highway Inn is not only non-affordable but also not good and the overall experience was horrible. They made me wait in the parking lot for 50 minutes even thou there were empty tables inside, many people came by and when they heard the 60-minute waiting they just went somewhere else. When I went inside and I pointed out that I have been waiting out for 50 minutes they got me a place at the counter, then I realized that most of the cooks were preparing take out orders and only some (or one) was actually cooking for in-site dining. I ordered the pork Lau Lau and poi with smashed potatoes, the pork was a two-bite, extremely fatty portion, I got rice instead of poi, and the smashed potatoes was actually mac & cheese (not very Hawaiian I presume). I also ordered a cup of Kona coffee and I got a cold, re-heated coffee that had no aroma nor flavor any longer. The bill was more than 25 dollars which even for Hawaii, it is not in the "affordable" list as the name of the video says. Don't go to Highway Inn restaurant.
Wow! The news were saying Hawai'i is not ready for the public..sorry to hear your bad experience. I am back at the end of July & I know the places to hit!
@@Active_Tours I was!!! I was very Angry, luckily I moved to Maui and the Big Island that day and everything was stunning from that point, I loved them and definitively will go back some day. I gotta say that I had one of my best good times in Maui and Big Island, unforgettable!!
I went to Leonards Bakery for the first time back in December 21 I ordered the regular Malasada and the coconut. The lot went in the bin they were disgusting NEVER AGAIN.
Eat all of it. Don’t decide a favorite place until you’ve eaten ALL OF IT. Don’t go to the same place twice in a row. Keep branching out and eating new things.
Also Romy’s Kahuku Prawn and Shrimp is the best shrimp shack, little farther down from Fumis also have their own shrimp and prawn farm! Get it with extra garlic! Omg
Don't bother with Giovani's Shrimp Truck. You will go away hungry. Over priced! Not worth any wait, Mghtas well go to the Japanese Food Market in Honolulu.

Sunrise Restaurant for Japanese Okinawan food (cheap plate lunches and sushi)
Matsumoto’s Shave Ice in the North Shore, Dong Yang in Wahiawa and Shiro’s Saimin Haven in Aiea
Tanioka's fish patty and poke, Alicia's Market for poke, roast meats and roast beef, Kamehameha Bowl Restaurant in the Kamehameha Shopping Center for oxtail soup.
Open the box on the way back to the hotel from Leonard's so they don't steam up and get soggy. They are fine to travel as long as you open the box.

Hono's. I support the cranky Korean auntie.
Try Matsumoto’s in Haleiwa for shave and Tanioka’s in Waipahu for pokeand compare 😁
I really liked Foodland. They have plate lunches and poke bowls. I absolutely loved their pastelle stew plate lunch.
Go to Giovanni's if you want mediocre shrimp after standing in a stupidly long line. Try Big Wave Shrimp or Jenny's instead.
Omg they look even better than Maui. My trip is 7 days so I’m gonna make sure to go as many places as I can. 🤤 Thank you for the list!

I miss Pala Ole's. So Ono.
Elena's in waipahu for Filipino food. Shiro'sin Waimalu for Saimin
We had Elena's last March when we visited..
You do have to go to the Pig & The Lady! It’s the best Pho I’ve had in the states. It’s authentic to what I’ve had in North Vietnam. Soooo good!
Don't forget Helena's, Shimazu Shaved Ice..
im going in 2 weeks, I cant wait to try all that food T.T I'm drooling

I love your Big Island Divers shirt! I used them to do the Manta Ray dive and black water dive. I also love love love Island Vintage Coffee
also the Foodland poke is delicious! I I did Fumi's last North Shore trip so this time I'm doing Giovannis.
@@emilycurtis557 Try Ted's Bakery garlic shrimp
Highway Inn is ok, but don't go there when you're really hungry LOL. expensive and small portions.

Oooo what breweries should we check out?
Yes!! I was waiting for this one cuz i just watched the last video couple days ago and you mentioned making a video like this 😌
Garlic shrimp!😋

🙏 for sharing. I’ve added these to my list for next time 🤙
But to be able to get poke, a slice of teds Mac nut cream pie, AND not wait in line… go foodland? Shoots.
At bear foot Beach by the zoo in wikiki
haha, Rainbow Drive Inn date site 50 years ago. Too bad I live mainland now...
Go to zippys and get some oxtail soup.
I've been to Maru Kame Udon in Japan. It was not half as good as the one in Hawaii. I wait in the line no matter how long it is. There is no substitute for that taste. Eunice is so hot!
Lots of great spots here! Check out tamura's ninja poke! So Ono
Nice list and breakdown. Was it any particular Foodland or Zippys? I see several locations for both. Thanks!

I would suggest Goma Tea for tartan ramen.
Steak Shack is my #1
WONDERFUL👌👌😍😍
Gotta hit Kono's in Haleiwa for the breakfast bombers.
Bento box for life 💯
Can you recommend where the best luau is in Honolulu?
I enjoyed the Highway Inn hope you enjoy!
In my experience, Paradise Cove in Aulani Hotel,..2nd) Polynesian cultural center, 3rd) Germaine
THANKS VERY INFORMATIVE :-)
🤗❤️ love the vid ❤️🤗
Is oahu doable without a car rental? I’ll be staying for 5 days so would you recommend renting a car for that duration or just do daily rental? Thanks
You can certainly see Waikiki and the surrounding area without a car. If you want to venture further out I’d recommend getting a car for those days. Be mindful that you’ll likely need to pay to park your car overnight in Waikiki
You can take DaBus....
Be there tomorrow
Try poke stop in Mililani mauka!
Do u have itineraries to do each day including food. Thank you!!

You skipped ME's Korean BBQ in Waikiki. Years of Ono Grinds.
I saw a video that recommended a Luau and now I can’t find it. I think it was at the Cultural Center. Can you suggest one?
The Cultural Center Luau is fantastic! Aloha! 🤙
Very helpful tips! Thanks!
