Just bought a house in Wylie and are moving down there this weekend. I can't wait! The things that really attracted us are the quality of the schools compared to the property tax. It's not hard to buy a $12,000 in property tax per year house not far away that have lesser schools. You can't fault Wylie and Wylie East high schools for their reputations of quality. Absolutely what we are looking for with our three teenagers. The nice thing about where we bought is that our property tax was closer to $8500 per year instead of $12k and we still get access to amazing schools. For anyone moving from out of state, that is one of the things you really need to consider. We are moving from an area where our property tax is $2800 per year and our homeowner's insurance is $690 per year to a place where those numbers go up to $8500 and $3200 respectively. It's not a matter of IF you file a homeowner's insurance claim... It's more like WHEN you will file it. Storms do a lot of damage in Texas, so be prepared. But even considering that a couple things like taxes, insurance, and utilities may go up, we still feel like we came out waaaaaay ahead with the house. The house we bought would have been easily 60% - 70% more if it were plopped anywhere where we are moving from. It is a massive upgrade as far as I'm concerned. And after looking all over Texas for the best place to live, Wylie was in our top 3. Prosper and McKinney were a little higher on the list, but we were getting outbid by more than six figures on those listings. Wylie homes are just as nice, just maybe a couple years older. It's like the little secret of the metro that nobody seems to know about... Not sure why, but it is a great location with great houses at great value. Better buy a house quick before the rest of those crazy Californian's with piles of money after selling their 1200 sqft dump for $1.5M dollars show up.

The cops have harassment issues. 2 years ago one spit in my face and pulled my hair. Just because I said why are you pulling me over. I own 47 acres and this is home to me.
