Hey love! My name is Lexi & I'm starting my first day of training at Starbucks Monday (August 1st, 2022)! Ive been soooo excited and nervous to start but your video really helped reassure me that it will be lots of fun and everything will be okay! You have the most happy & cutest personality so thank you so much for making this video for baristas in training like myself and bringing us along for your first week of training! It gives me an idea of what i'll be doing and makes me that much more excited!! Also, I seen your travel vlog to Scottsdale,AZ, Im literally located 25-30 min from there in Phoenix, AZ!!! @@LanaGrey864 Honestly, as you should've. I've noticed management will cut corners any way they can. If I knew of something else that would keep me as mentally stimulated as the buck, I'd be there in a heartbeat. So much drama and unpredictability in the shop for noo reason.
@@LanaGrey864 I was in "training" for 3 whole months! 3 months they had me unemployed, but not really, because they hired me but didn't have a store to send me too. Cherry on top, the manager that hired me made me quit my job for it! 😭 I say "unemployed" because my shifts were crazily scattered. I still didn't know what I was doing by the time I got to my store. I was sent to the next county for training, paid for those rides out of pocket (nearly $200, reimbursed), but when it came time to getting it back, a visiting shift OPENED MY TIP BAG and put my money in the register! I told the manager, she did nothing! Told the next manager that took over, he did nothing! And then we got another manager. So on and so on. I literally just had to get over the fact that I was broke and in debt because I was hired but not really! It's been an entire year and my savings have yet to recover. 😭 I was so passionate about working for Starbucks too. They did me so dirty. I just clock in ready to clock out.
My first day is today and according to my hiring manager, it will be onboarding and then only a single shift to complete all training required. So, did they change the rule saying a barista needs 40 plus hours of training or is my store location just different?
I might start working at Starbucks soon! Something that always intimated me was the headsets could you explain them more to me? How do they work? Sorry if this question is stupid
hi! The headsets are pretty simple! There are 3 buttons, two of them you can talk to people in the drive through and the middle button is to talk to your partners. Other than that, they’re not used for anything else! It’s just so we can all hear orders and have a line of communication.
Hi! I applied for barista today and I was wondering when they would contact me… how long did it take for them to respond? when you apply, do you automatically have the opportunity to be interviewed? Im so curious and nervous about everything haha!
hi Hannah!! so happy to hear that you have applied to be a partner! I am not going to sugarcoat it, Starbucks sees hundreds of applications a day, it will be to your benefit to call once a week (after 1 week application put in) until they agree to meet with you- it shows persistence and interest in the job. It took me around a month to actually be able to schedule something and go in and interview! But it also varies from district to district. Not everyone gets an interview, the applications are taken very seriously and thoroughly looked at! The questions they ask very much pertain to if you are a good fit for the store/company and someone they can rely on to create that “third place” for customers :)
I came here for some research, because I want to apply to Starbucks soon. Do you think it’s a good job for someone who is in high-school? Because Starbucks is really speaking to me right now
Starbucks is a great job for anyone of any age! But it is a job that is going to require discipline & efficiency. make sure you are open to everything & work hard, this ensures success for yourself and your team! hold yourself accountable, like any job- there is responsibility! All is say is make sure you are ready for that :)
Hi. Do they provide aprons & hats ( visors ) ? Do you need a food handling certification by first day of work ( or no certification at all ) ? 5:55 am ... that's so early. Thanks.
aprons/hats are provided. Aprons+name tag you are required to wear, hats there is no requirement- to my knowledge (this may vary by district). You should be scheduled a time to complete food handlers or do it on your own time and be reimbursed- I had mine prior to beginning. 5:00 am is now a blessing, I get off early enough to have the whole day to still do things!
Thank you for this video! I'm starting training this month & I feel I'll be ready. Are you still at Starbucks? If so I hope it's even more awesome now!
@@AngelaThornburg Awesome!! Thank you. I will! I had my first sip yesterday and learned about the company & the amazing benefits. Everyone was welcoming! I'm looking forward to training! 💕
a very helpful video. my first day is tomorrow and i’m just worried because I don’t know my trainer and only my manager knows of me to my knowledge so far. so scared to walk in!
Starbucks has rules in place that you must be able to open & close (at least 4 nights, I think) at least! They recently changed it around august. You have to have that open availability in order to stay fair to all the other partners and it makes scheduling easier for the store managers.
I had my interview, did the background and recieved email that I passed, did the identity on secure Starbuck site, and got my food handler card. How long before they schedule orientation? Should I call?
hi! that’s so exciting, you got some of the biggest things out of the way!! Starbucks is one of those places that is constantly being bombarded with applications and interviews, so response times can take a while. first thing i would ask is if during your interview you discussed when a possible starting date would happen? if not, from that time- a good rule of thumb is 3-5 days before contacting them again!
You remain me of my pal Hailie from high school we went to Merced High School together and she used to love texting me and it looks like she doesn’t like talking to me anymore! :(
hiii!! tysm! i would say that 99.9% of my pants are from american eagle! i am super short and they offer an x-short length, so im only ever able to buy pants that don’t need extra tailoring from there, plus they always run amazing sales!! good luck on your first day today, it’s gonna be both amazing and scary! i hope you feel welcomed, comfortable, and excited for this new journey 💗💗
I had mine prior to working at Starbucks because I had worked in the food industry. It is up to your store manager whether you will take it there or at home :)
:) Very informative video. I am doing an analysis project at university about Starbucks and your experience has helped me a lot to know more about Starbucks. Thanks
SAME!!!! i start tomorrow im so nervous, how did it go for you? my manager specifically told me that it's a lot of pressure in our branch since it's in a mall
@@virginiaherzberger9301 i just did yesterday and it went alright!!! it's mainly going over dresscode again, the barista guide, filling out forms, and your manager completing your I-9 for you.. my store was so loud bc of customers so we had to go up to the food court and discuss there, i was with two more people and they were really nice!! after that we went down again and had a tour of the store and my manager made us sign into the tablet and we just completed few more forms and read some conditions and he showed us how to clock in and out
@jiyaea idk how I made it through but tbh be prepared for the critiques, and also change be sure you don't fall short or over, and if you have a good manager, communication is key. Tbh it's been chaotic and stressful but I'm still learning, still getting the hang of register so take you time, and ask as much questions as possible. Take notes especially when your get critiques in your training. For this will save you later on in your job.
so my training was kind of all over the place, we were going through a management swap. depending on your availability and the availability of a trainer- will affect your schedule. it does not have to be done back to back, but it does help!
hi! im going to be honest, it took me about 1.5 months to hear back from them! they just receive sooo many applications. it’s very good to call about once a week to check in and follow up on any application or paperwork :)
Do they give you recipes to memorize or are there little notes posted everywhere? I applied for barista but my store is in the middle of a management change so I haven't done anything yet. Also easy is it to navigate the register if you have had experience with being a cashier at other places?
Hi! My store has a cheat sheet for all the newbies who are learning to follow while they are on bar. I’m not sure if every store does. I did not get any to take home, I just learned on the clock. For Frappuccinos, there should be a guide on the fridge :) here is it in simplest terms. Hot: shots 1:1:2:2, syrup 2:3:4 Cold: shots 2:3:4, syrup 3:4:6 There are a few drinks that have exceptions such as a macchiato, but I’ll let them explain those to you! Register has been something that has always come extremely easy to me, so for me it was pretty easy to navigate! However, I do know a lot of people who struggled with it and still struggle as there are probably a hundred buttons at least! but everything comes with time & never be afraid to just shout out and ask for help! Hope that helped!! Good luck!! ☺️☺️
Hi! I am still working with Starbucks and I love it. I was a shift for 2 years and I am now moving up to an ASM. As much as Starbucks strives for consistency, obviously different stores are going to have different atmospheres and cultures based on the ppl that work there. I love my team and district and I feel blessed to have so much support and love from every partner! Hope you enjoy your new journey at your store and make lots of connections :) remember if you’re not finding you’re vibe there, there are plenty of store around to find your community of people! Keep up the positive vibes and enjoy the silly barista moments.
You are not supposed to make your own drink! Even as a Starbucks partner, you are also a customer and should be given the same enjoyable experience. This means someone else rings you up and someone else makes your drink. This not only gives you a chance to relax, but also ensures that there is transparency.
from partners across the US, I’ve heard to start feeling fully comfortable as a barista it takes about a month of continuous shifts, if you are a shift- about 2 months! And I have to agree with this statement now that I am about 1.5 months in of continuous shifts. Everything will come with time, don’t stress, take it all in and enjoy this new experience!! 💗💗
Hi Jennifer! Training is paid, most jobs nowadays I believe pay when training *hopefully*! You can find pay information on Starbucks website, but I believe entry pay is $15/hr. :)
I do! I absolutely love it! I am surrounded by an amazing team, have amazing support, my leaders are awesome. We always have fun and are looking for ways to be leaders and innovators in the coffee industry. I want to do an updates video sometime but unfortunately im only allowed to say so much about my job and what it entails :)
@@AngelaThornburg I’m so happy for you!! That’s sounds like a wonderful place to work! I’m getting a job at a Kroger Starbucks so I was wondering also your video helped so much! I wish you the best in life and hope that you continue to thrive!! And if you do make an update video I would definitely watch it lol but totally understandable that you can’t say to much abt your job. ☺️
Sorry! They should have. You can find all information regarding it in the store resources app though if you are ever curious! Also make sure to check in with your manager about emergency routes and stuff.
hi! On a Starbucks standard, leggings are not allowed. #1 they are revealing (they can be sheer and body hugging) and #2 they are not food safe- if you were to spill hot water or coffee on the leggings, it would not offer enough barrier to protect your skin! And you would end up with a worse wound than if you were wearing something like jeans or water wicking.
Hi I am sky and I have been watching this videos and i'm 13 but I really want to work at Starbucks I have been want to work at Starbucks since I was 9! But hope in the future I work there!
not necessarily! I believe the standard is seven “free” pastry or lunch items/week that you can eat when you have a break. if you happen to use up all that they allot you for a week, you do have to pay a discounted price! it is extremely kind of them to allow a free snack when you are working! most employers do not provide anything.
be yourself & don’t stress too much! the questions that take place are to determine if you are a good fit for that team. if you need help understanding a question or cannot think of an answer, be open about it or ask for clarification! it shows willingness to learn, good communication skills, and flexibility. go into it with a positive attitude and positive outlook and whatever happens happens! best of luck ☺️
Uploading content about Starbucks has been tricky to navigate. There is a lot I am not allowed to talk about under contract! If people want tip videos for specific things, I’d be happy to do it! Just as one of the managers, it’s hard to elaborate too much on my job.
@@AngelaThornburg Had no clue you even made it to manager! Congrats! I'd personally love a tips video or even just a vlog update especially because I just worked my first shift at Starbucks yesterday lol
yes of course!! if there’s any specific questions you have, let me know and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. and i will upload one within the next couple weeks, I have a couple videos going up before then. how have your first few weeks gone? hope they’ve been well!! 💗
it was nerve wracking at first, but sink or swim is how I learn best, so I am glad that I allowed myself to be put in that situation! If I would have been terribly uncomfortable with the idea, I would have said something and they would of course moved me! don’t be nervous! hopefully everyone is incredibly welcoming and no one wants you to fail, they hired you because they needed the help! so don’t be afraid to ask questions (even if it’s a repeat) and also don’t be afraid to make mistakes- you’ll learn from them! Best of luck!! :)

aprons/hats are provided.
I am still at Starbucks! I absolutely love my job & the people ☺️☺️ remember it all comes with time and don’t be afraid to ask questions 🩷
Is it possible if they would only let you work morning shifts? I’m asking because that’s mainly the time I’m able to work.
Starbucks has rules in place that you must be able to open & close (at least 4 nights, I think) at least! They recently changed it around august. You have to have that open availability in order to stay fair to all the other partners and it makes scheduling easier for the store managers.
@@AngelaThornburg oh I see that makes sense thank you
I had my interview, did the background and recieved email that I passed, did the identity on secure Starbuck site, and got my food handler card. How long before they schedule orientation? Should I call?
hi! that’s so exciting, you got some of the biggest things out of the way!! Starbucks is one of those places that is constantly being bombarded with applications and interviews, so response times can take a while. first thing i would ask is if during your interview you discussed when a possible starting date would happen? if not, from that time- a good rule of thumb is 3-5 days before contacting them again!
how long did it take them to contact you?
Hello! New subscriber here. I just got hired at Starbucks and start soon. This was very informative and helpful.
yay!! im so glad i was able to help and hopefully it helps you ease any nerves 🥰
You remain me of my pal Hailie from high school we went to Merced High School together and she used to love texting me and it looks like she doesn’t like talking to me anymore!
:(
Your outfits are super cute!! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your pants from? I start my first day on Saturday :)
hiii!! tysm! i would say that 99.9% of my pants are from american eagle! i am super short and they offer an x-short length, so im only ever able to buy pants that don’t need extra tailoring from there, plus they always run amazing sales!!
good luck on your first day today, it’s gonna be both amazing and scary! i hope you feel welcomed, comfortable, and excited for this new journey 💗💗
Do you get your food handlers card through starbucks or they make you do it somewhere else?
I had mine prior to working at Starbucks because I had worked in the food industry. It is up to your store manager whether you will take it there or at home :)
:) Very informative video. I am doing an analysis project at university about Starbucks and your experience has helped me a lot to know more about Starbucks. Thanks
awesome! Glad to hear that and hope the project went well!!
Ugh I start tmrw at a Starbucks yay!! It's in a mall.
SAME!!!! i start tomorrow im so nervous, how did it go for you? my manager specifically told me that it's a lot of pressure in our branch since it's in a mall
Me tooooooooo!! i start training tomorrow@@jlyaea
@@virginiaherzberger9301 i just did yesterday and it went alright!!! it's mainly going over dresscode again, the barista guide, filling out forms, and your manager completing your I-9 for you.. my store was so loud bc of customers so we had to go up to the food court and discuss there, i was with two more people and they were really nice!! after that we went down again and had a tour of the store and my manager made us sign into the tablet and we just completed few more forms and read some conditions and he showed us how to clock in and out
Damn both malls! 😩
For this will save you later on in your job.
how long are training shifts usually? does training have to be done 5 days in a row?
so my training was kind of all over the place, we were going through a management swap. depending on your availability and the availability of a trainer- will affect your schedule. it does not have to be done back to back, but it does help!
how soon after the background check did they contact you? :)
hi! im going to be honest, it took me about 1.5 months to hear back from them! they just receive sooo many applications. it’s very good to call about once a week to check in and follow up on any application or paperwork :)
@@AngelaThornburg thank you!! they contacted me a couple of days later 🫶🏻 are you still a partner? I’m loving this job!
My background check was yesterday and I got an email today saying I got the job. I’m very excited and nervous
Hot: shots 1:1:2:2, syrup 2:3:4
Cold: shots 2:3:4, syrup 3:4:6
There are a few drinks that have exceptions such as a macchiato, but I’ll let them explain those to you!
Good luck!! ☺️☺️
HI :) loved this video. my 2nd day of training is tomorrow. this helped a lot! are you still working at starbies? :)
So when you work there are you not allowed to make your own drink
You are not supposed to make your own drink! Even as a Starbucks partner, you are also a customer and should be given the same enjoyable experience. This means someone else rings you up and someone else makes your drink. This not only gives you a chance to relax, but also ensures that there is transparency.
My first day was Sunday and they put me on the register and window 😩I have a lot to learn as a new partner and shift supervisor.
from partners across the US, I’ve heard to start feeling fully comfortable as a barista it takes about a month of continuous shifts, if you are a shift- about 2 months! And I have to agree with this statement now that I am about 1.5 months in of continuous shifts. Everything will come with time, don’t stress, take it all in and enjoy this new experience!! 💗💗
I worked at Starbucks for three years and it took me awhile to finally get it and become the top barista in the store!
Do you have to pay for your own drink even tho u work there?
if you are working that day, no. If you are not working or visiting a different store from your home store, yes!
Tomorrow is my first day of training I’m so nervous😭
Is training paid? And if you don’t mind me asking what is the starting paid
Hi Jennifer! Training is paid, most jobs nowadays I believe pay when training *hopefully*! You can find pay information on Starbucks website, but I believe entry pay is $15/hr. :)
Do you still work there? How is it?
I start raining Friday and yes I’m stressed!
how did it go? I hope everyone was welcoming and your stress level went down after being introduced to everyone :)
my interview is in 24 minutes this video help me
My job never went over active shooter and allergy stuff…
Sorry! They should have. You can find all information regarding it in the store resources app though if you are ever curious! Also make sure to check in with your manager about emergency routes and stuff.
I just got hired today candi 🎉
HELP are flared leggings allowed in starbucks? i read the dress code and it says leggings should be worn only under skirts or dresses 😵💫
@@AngelaThornburg never realized this omg thank u!!! my orientation is today and i didnt wanna mess up, i'll wear jeans instead
Hi I am sky and I have been watching this videos and i'm 13 but I really want to work at Starbucks I have been want to work at Starbucks since I was 9! But hope in the future I work there!
Hello!!! Lunch from Starbucks is free ?
not necessarily! I believe the standard is seven “free” pastry or lunch items/week that you can eat when you have a break. if you happen to use up all that they allot you for a week, you do have to pay a discounted price! it is extremely kind of them to allow a free snack when you are working! most employers do not provide anything.
you're so gorgeous!!!! 💗💗💗
tysm 💗💗💗
still working there? how is it going?
It’s my first day tomorrow! Such a motivational video!
You got this!
so cute. best of luck to you at this job. much success.
my first sip is in 2 days and i’m kinda nervous
Starbucks is such a welcoming environment and is known for staying true to their “third home” value!! you got this!! 💗
@@AngelaThornburg my asm was rlly welcoming and made it feel like home for me 🙃
I will start coming soon but I like u 😊
Hi! How was the interview process ? I have an interview on Monday 11/21 any advice?
be yourself & don’t stress too much! the questions that take place are to determine if you are a good fit for that team. if you need help understanding a question or cannot think of an answer, be open about it or ask for clarification! it shows willingness to learn, good communication skills, and flexibility. go into it with a positive attitude and positive outlook and whatever happens happens! best of luck ☺️
kinda sad this is the last thing youve uploaded about your barista experience
Im so surprised they put you in there so fast. Drive thru on DAY 3? 🥲 I start next week and I’m so nervous lol
it was nerve wracking at first, but sink or swim is how I learn best, so I am glad that I allowed myself to be put in that situation!
I’ve been doing some much research on working at Starbucks. I have my “First Sip” meeting and orientation this week. I am so nervous! Watching your videos kind of eased my anxiety. How long did you end up staying for? I understand it’s probably not easy to share your experience as much as you’d like being that some things need to stay confidential to the company.
