Ken, this is such a scientific approach and really resonates with me. Excellent work! Question, have you worked with the Lishi 2 in 1 pick decoders for BE2 6 and 7 pin SFIC locks? I have one lock I can't get to control to get the core out and I've been trying to map out all the possibilities on each chamber with this tool. The lock I'm working with has to be mastered as I've hit operating with different combinations. Would love for you to explore the Lishi picks and maybe put together a similar video.
Thanks. I've been learning a lot about SFICs with the LPU Mako lock. That is a real challenge to open. Do you normally just find control through memory and trying the variations? Do you use those BOK wrenches with the nubs to tension the control sleeve?
I've never had much success with those BOK ejector hole tension wrenches and I know many others that don't have success or use them as well. If you can make them work, please let us know. Yes, picking (without security pins) is a matter of keeping track of where shearlines are felt and what results they yield (even written notes help). When you add serrated, spool, barrel, and even T pin drivers, with possible spool, serrated and barrel key pins as Mako does, then this "complicates" your feel "a bit". I believe the Mako "LPU contest" locks (as well as their normal stock locks) are not masterkeyed, so you will only have 1 operating and 1 control to deal with (watch for possible wafer under T-pin)
@@Pyrolock, thanks for your reply. The Mako feels like nothing else, feeling two different security pins at the same time. Using the CCW picking trick to operating helps a lot but it's a challenge to either sheer line clockwise. A big step from my normal locks.
IC's always annoyed me when I had to key up large numbers of them. So many little fiddly bits to deal with and so easy to lose track of which core you're working on (and consequently mislabeling).
I honestly have more problems with keying and forgetting if i ever put a certain pin in lol. Also the process of putting graphite after rekeying cylinders to make them work better.
Nice one, Ken. Very well explained!
Thanks
A very well done explanation/tutorial on SFIC basics. Kudos!
Thanks

Yes, very true

@@kurogane2xgraphite should never be used in IC cores, or any pin tumbler lock for that matter.
You guys have a discord, don't you?
are you eating something ?
