In the tall grass is in the Joe Hill collection called Full Throttle if you don’t want to buy it individually
The analogy of Stephen King as "like hanging out with an old friend" - he's more like that friend that's come to stay on your couch and wont frikkin leave !! 🤭🤭
Here's your hat, Steve, what's your hurry
@@CriminOllyBlog 🤣
Thanks so much, Olly! Glad you enjoyed OLD TOO SOON!
Loved it!
Delightful wrap-up, Olly. I think I’m going to miss Horror Mayhem when we move on into June! It’s been great fun! 😊
Thanks Pat! So glad you’ve enjoyed Horror Mayhem!
@@CriminOllyBlog SO much! Thanks again for great recommendations. 😊
Oh, grits. I think I mentioned before (though you'd have no reason to remember) that I grew up in Maine, just a few minutes' walk from Stephen King's house. In Maine, we ate grits in much the way we would oatmeal or (*shudder*) cream of wheat. So served for breakfast, with a bit of milk, butter & brown sugar mixed in. Traditionally, as I'm sure you know from your reading, it's usually more of a savory food, with cheese, shrimp, etc. added. Putting milk & sugar on grits will sent some folks from the South into fits of rage...which was why my brother took special care to do so while in the Army back in the 80s. I didn't even have it in its more traditional, Southern style, until I moved to the Washington D.C. area in my early 30s. I actually enjoy it both as a traditional, savory dish, and as a New England style, sweeter dish. But I don't really make it the latter way, as my wife, who is from Texas, would be most displeased.
Wow that is weird that they updated Body Snatchers like that. I love both movies. I’ll check out the book. Lots of interesting books here! 📚📚📚📚
Hi Olly. Thank you so much for your terrific review of That Which Stands Outside. As a big fan of your channel, I'm utterly thrilled that you enjoyed it so much!
Thanks Mark! It still blows my mind a bit that you watch the channel 😂
Great week! I’m gonna have to try that Witches series. Sounds like maybe GarbAugust?
Hi, Olly. Glad you are enjoying Road of Bones. As I mentioned before, I hated it and i will not read anything else the author writes, but we obviously like different books. I just noticed that because I ordered and read "I Who Have Never Known Men." I believe you liked it a lot and recommended it. I couldn't stand it. I understand why it has remained "hidden" for so long; it should remain hidden. You liked it; I detested it. C'est la vie. Still, I hope you find Barjavel's "The Ice People" (La nuit du temps) and read it. I'd like to hear your opinion about it, even if you did not think much of it. Happy readings
Completely agree, if we all liked the same stuff it would be a boring world
In the Tall Grass was made into a film starring Patrick Wilson. I saw it on Netflix awhile back which may explain why it was published as a standalone (??) ... and I've just started watching the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers on the Internet Archive ... Holy synchronicity, Batman!
*points at you with mouth and eyes open wide*
@@CriminOllyBlog Blimey, that must mean I'm Veronica Cartwright. Note to self: do not go onto the Nostromo. Do NOT go on the Nostromo!!

I got four books in for Horror MAYhem. The Silence of Ghosts by Jonathan Aycliffe, Night Killers by Richard Lew, Annabelle by Ruby Jean Jensen and You Like It Darker by King. I'm already 3 westerns into June.
I just finished the first story in You Like It Darker (Two Talented Bastids) and enjoyed it. Certainly not one of King’s but an good read nonetheless. Without knowing its publication history, it felt like something he wrote for a themed anthology.
Yeah it does feel like that doesn't it
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the new Mark Morris book!
I really did!
A Simon Avery book I don't have yet. I shall order that inmediately!
Thanks again for leading me to him through his story in ODM
I almost picked up You Like It Darker the other day. The American dust jacket is so lovely, but the print edition has to be one of the cheapest pieces of you-know-what I've ever encountered. Cheap, pulpy paper and a cover and boards that barely even quality as paperboard. And thirty bucks! American publishers should really be ashamed of themselves.
Well that sucks!
I clicked and was left undisappointed. Rather lovely, considering the subject matter…
Thank you!
As far as ditching the Kindle ecosystem do you know which of your new e-readers allow for library downloads? My library pushes the Kindle app but also has options for other things (android, apple, windows, and browser), but I have never tried them.
I read the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers which I absolutely loved, apart from the ending. I prefer the vibe of the 1978 movie. The book is more like the lacklustre Nicole Kidman film-version as I recall.
Yeah the 50s and 70s movies are great
💚🖤
This will seem like a random question but do you already have Tim Lebbon’s Among the Living? I feel like I remember you mentioning it but can’t find the video now. It’s also possible that I imagined it 😂
I don’t have it, so you must have imagined it 😂
