My parents used to drink a lot when I was a kid and dad was...Not nice at all. About when I was 13 I decided that I will never be like that, and now I'm almost 37, never been drunk, never smoked or done drugs --- and funnily most people think that I'm boring and uninteresting because of that. But I don't live to please anyone else, just myself
About two years ago I had someone in my friend group tell me "wtf have you even done with your life" because I was 21 and have never been drunk-on drugs and I have never been to a strip club, brothel or casino. Some people just never grow out of the gta mindset. Let alone consider the fact that some things are not interesting to others.
My parents never drank or smoked. It has been incredibly easy for me to avoid those things because they simply weren't around and couldn't even tempt me. My point being, you not drinking and smoking is on a whole magnitude of impressive. People who have called you boring have never thought much about it. I'm happy for you! Keep taking care of yourself!
boring? nah, you do you. I personally see nothing wrong with almost anything you can do recreationally as long as you actually have some semblance of self-control but just because you choose not to drink, get high or anything else doesn't mean you're automatically a square.
I gotta say, ever since Lua's clips started showing up in my recommended thanks to Baldur's Gate 3, I've been impressed by her blend of silly, cute, quirky humor as well as her heart and intelligence. She seems like a remarkably easy person to like and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.
nah dude, same. I'm not really that into watching gaming streams, but I feel like you. That's the reason why I watch her - she reminds me that there ARE indeed women out there worth looking for.
I love drinking. Beer Whiskey Margaritas yum yum! But nobody needs to drink if they don’t want to. And Lua is wise to be careful about public cause unfortunately there are bad people in world
I respect and understand your decision. I feel the same as you when it comes to drinking. I used to see some girls in undergrad stumbling drunk to their rooms and have helped a few get to the safety of their rooms. There is nothing fun about drinking. I would rather be the designated driver then the drinker. Someone has to be in control and I choose me being that one.
I drink sometimes when I'm out with friends but typically only with food and usually no more than 2 drinks. Never been drunk, nor high, don't like the feeling of "buzzed" so I can only think drunk or stoned/high would be even worse. Having worked in retail and in restaurants, in general there is more urine around men's toilets than women's; however, women's restrooms are usually more messed up and require more cleaning.
Drinking makes me very sociable but I have enough self-control to start pulling back if I'm crossing someone's lines. What really sucks is finding yourself having to care for someone who doesn't have that level of control, especially if they're also angry drunks. It's really bad if you're dealing with that and also really have to use the pointing stick.
That's a very mature and sensible view on alcohol and I wish more people had that. I've been around a lot of drunk people and it's obvious it has a wide range of effects on different people, what you described of that friend is someone I would say shouldn't get drunk again. I also have a friend that will forget everything that has happened when she's very drunk and will probably agree to almost anything, it's scary honestly. I now only drink for taste and enjoyment and never to get drunk. One of the beers good for that for me is what you've mentioned, kriek! I love anything cherry flavoured really.
I love how you can give wise, sensible advice taken from life experience without even missing a beat playing that game! I wholeheartedly agree with your opinion. I have never drank alcohol in my life and will never do so. Like you, I have seen alcohol make people do weird and crazy things and turn the tamest everyday person into a beast of violence. I prefer a clear mind and consuming alcohol to excess just spins your world out of control. You have given all young ladies some intelligent advice here. So kudos for that. As for drinking while streaming? Just stay hydrated with whatever your beverage of choice is, since you are spending five or six hours streaming at a time. Must always keep the fluids up for healthy wellbeing. Loved the video, Lua. And “Aiming Stick” sounds very high tech!😂🌹 (Ps…….Happy Easter! It’s Bunny Day!🐰)
Been thinking about this topic today! And recently in general. When you explain your reasons for not drinking, it makes it sound so simple and obvious why drinking is pretty bad. I drink less and less as I get older and have tried having time off from booze. I would love to eventually go 100% sober to be honest. Coming from someone who loves Belgian and German beer and craft beer
I worked at Fred Meyer's for about 1 year as one of only 2 guys who were available for the day shift when all the others were in school, and I can definitively say that cleaning the men's bathroom was worse than cleaning the women's bathroom, but mostly it was equal. But I was going hourly checkups, so maybe that was why.
I only within the last few years figured out my taste in alcohol and never really went out clubbing as a younger guy, so I prefer a quiet evening at home with a beer or two vs getting crazy with it. And I never got the idea of judging people who don’t drink. There’s loads of reasons, and frankly “I just don’t want to” is more than enough.
I realized I neve want to be drunk when I realized my dad was a functional alcoholic. Its definitely stripped myself and my dad of valuable time when I was younger. Also, most beer taste absolutely awful.
Being drunk is not fun. Being tipsy is fine for most people. I get more cheerful when i'm tipsy. Doesn't happen often and i don't need to drink a lot for it to happen so win-win. Being drunk is shit. You get nauseous, you feel like shit and you feel even worse in the evening. Drink responsibly
last time i drink alcohol was around 8 years ago, i decide to not do it more, i never drink a lot, i only did it for social pressure and when a decide to not do it more that horrible people get far away from me so im happy because now i have better people in my life 😊
Well, I got drunk once. It was on a date, we both alone on her flat. While it ended pretty good for both (or at least I hope it was for both), the hangover was enough for me to never wanted to do that again. And that hangover was shared, so at least we laughed through it. Having that alone is something is something I don't want to experience.
Because usually noone drinks pure (or purified) alcohol. Wine and beer can have a variety of tastes. I really like dry cider as it's effectively more sour apple juice. And most purified drinks (more than 15% of pure alcohol) belong only in cocktails. And good cocktails do not taste like alcohol. Can you teach yourself to taste fine notes in whiskey or vodka? Probably. But then you again just drinking one glass entire evening, and it's hard to get drunk on that.
I mean, i haven't touched alcohol till 21, because i didnt like the taste in general, and haven't had a zip in years now, because i don't want and need to. And yeah, i never had the need or wish to do what i wouldn't do if i would be able to think, or the world circling around till my stomache comes up. I still see benefits in trying and knowing ones limits and corporal reaction. But within that i dont mean getting completely drunk, just classic al socialised drinking and knowing when not being able to go and think straight any more and to stop drinking before that point. I just find it usefull to get the body used to it and not get out of controll when you take a zip at a wedding or another occasion. But otherwise, i rather aswell would not drink at all, and everyone should be fine with that too. I just grew up in a world where alcohol is normal and my parents generation didn't even care for don't drink and drive, which is and should be standard as i was socialiced. I still see the cultural benefits and elaborate taste of being able to drink a good wine to a steak, or a glass of beer after a hard day of work (glass! not glasses or even bottles 😊) And i never drink alone, only with family or friends. Otherwise i never felt this way with other drugs, it's just the socialisation of alcohol being a normal food.
I also don’t drink. I come from a family of alcoholics, so I’ve seen what it can do to people. I will also try a local drink if I’m traveling, but that’s about it.

Alcohol is an... well... inhibition inhibitor... the more you're drunk, the less you question your intrusive thoughts... but you never do things that you don't think of doing anyway... If you're not the person thinking about licking dogs, you will never do it... So when I'm drunk, 80% of my thoughts are "think before you act, think before you act, think before you act"... or else...
I would say that it depends. Alcohol do a couple of things: Remove mental barriers. Boost brave (and stupidity) But also have specific alcohol influence, which is personal for each person. I don't know personally people, but they are friends of my friends, who act quite agressively while under alcohol, while they are quite fine without it. I for example start to speak a lot under alcohol and also achieve some alcohol auto mode. But it also depends on the alcohol ammount. The more you drink the bigger it overcome brain.
If you have an addictive personality as you say, like I do, you should deeeeefinitely not drink. It can become very problematic and ruin your life. And we would be sad if you went through that!
nothing makes you not want to drink more than caring for a drunk person.

So when I'm drunk, 80% of my thoughts are "think before you act, think before you act, think before you act"...
or else...
I would say that it depends. Alcohol do a couple of things:
Remove mental barriers.
Boost brave (and stupidity)
But also have specific alcohol influence, which is personal for each person.
What game is she playing?
Bro you're a green flag. Keep being you fam, drinking is overrated.
If you have an addictive personality as you say, like I do, you should deeeeefinitely not drink. It can become very problematic and ruin your life. And we would be sad if you went through that!
