I got this kit ages ago, i'm finally looking at building it.
Best of luck on your next video we need these video it will help all level of kit builder
I love the speed of this.. the metal noises don't bother me at all.
I had fun troubleshooting one, building one, explaining how it works in a video and next I want to Pimp it Out with a cool box and speaker
Mine worked as well just like yours thanks
this is the opposite of a relaxation video. i ordered this bad boy, should be here by the weekend.
Hmmm I may buy this kit now..hopefully the ic has a mute pin
I think I messed up I did c6 but c7 looks like it shares a hole but I already soldered c6... this is my first ever solder...I do not see where I can put c7 without using another pcs spot :(
Does it matter which push button you put into S1 and S2?
good video.
i bought a elenco 550 am ,but i messed up a copper soldering connection in the back, solder wont stick.do u have a suggestion as to a work around.it is for a capacitor component.
thanks
john
You could buy some soldering flux. That usually helps. Or, you could try to have your soldering iron go to a higher temperature.
For the S and R buttons should they be solder bridged with c4 and c14?
They can be. If the metal that you put solder on is connected, then you can bridge the solder. I bridged the solder, so I think that it should work fine.
Mine works & I get reception but the volume knob doesn't adjust the volume! It's more of a tuner and only works in one location. In other words, the volume is at a set level and I can't turn the volume up. Got a fix for this?
In that situation, I'm not sure what happened. Potentially, some components were misplaced, but I'm obviously not a professional, so I don't know exactly what to say. Sorry about that.
So is there no mute in between stations? A constant scan while holding the button down? As that is what I am looking for. Thanks for this
I'm not sure. I think the buttons change to different frequencies with a constant distance between them, like changing 10 meters per button press, then finding channels of that frequency, but I don't know.
Krustacean I ordered the kit... I’ll let you know what I find out
I followed everything exactly the way you did, but on the speaker is getting power. I can here the knob click, and then I can hear the speaker with white noise but nothing else. Buttons don’t do anything, and the red LED doesn’t even light up
Taylor Wachacha Maybe one of the places on the back of the board, where you solder on to, has become disconnected from the actual board, or there isn’t very good radio reception. I really don’t know. I’m sorry to hear about your radio not working. There is a troubleshooting section in the manual for how to build this radio, so that might be helpful.
Mine ended up tuning only to the NOAA weather channel at 162.55MZ. That's way too high for the standard 88 to 108 MZ range. I don't know what to do.
Interesting, I am not entirely sure what to do in that situation. In the right side of page 5 of the manual, which the link is in the bottom part of this comment, it mentions the possibility of the radio displaying unwanted signals at 10.7MHz above or below the oscillator frequency, but nothing about being 54.55MHz above the oscillator frequency. I do not know very much about electronics, but my inference based on the manual would be a battery that is not 9 volts, a faulty RF amplifier, and/or a faulty oscillator.

Can you do a video about troubleshooting because I followed your guide step by step but it's not turning on
Sure, and also, in the packet that comes with the kit, there's a troubleshooting section that helps in this situation.
Donovan Newman I
Perfect!
Kindly provide with any relevant document, if available. (regarding this of course)
Yeah, here you go.

You can just take little little solder wire at a time because to much can shake your hand
Doing it on a baking sheet is good idea lol
If anybody has any suggestions, please tell me.
Great video thanks for taking the time to document your build. My only suggestion is to get a piece of sponge to keep moist, this can be used to wipe the solder iron between joints to avoid buildup of excess solder on the tip. When soldering these PC board projects, a well tinned and clean iron makes all the difference.
@@flyer55jrt, brass wool works much better.
Can you glue it down with super glue
It's a shame I can't seem to find it but if I had a clear photo for the print PCB .I could transfer and all the boards I wanted.

I think what you're looking for will be on page 5.
The smd component is already soldered by the manufacturer?
On mine, it was.
Does anyone know where i can get the instructions online?
Yes, here you go.

Arent you supposed to put the light on first
I never seen anyone solder like that ,you may want to get a sponge to clean the soldering tip and less is better a
This a great instructional video on how NOT to solder.
Why HOW NOT??? The irons are very well... The kit works fine... Every one people has his own trick about how to solder
My sound is not clear how can I fix it
Well, it could be an issue with the reception, the speaker, the connecting points on the board, and/or the connections.
For the reception, walk around with it while its on until you found an area with good radio signal.
For the speaker, make sure it isn't broken in any way.
For the connecting points on the board, make sure they're all connected to the board, and not peeling off.
For the connections, make sure there is enough solder on the parts to have a strong connection between them.
what does "s" and "r" stand for?
I think "S" is for "Switch" and "R" is for "Reset," but I'm not entirely sure.
@@krustacean699 or scan, it switches between different radio stations.
The solder is quite thick
Yeah, I know, but this was my first time in a while soldering, so I was a but bad at it.
Very complicated where you can make one of this with 10 components cheap less than $2 cost...and it work like a charm
So you’re showing how not to solder right
Hi, ive just bought the same kit, but with no soldering iron. You are inpatient, how quickly do you need it done lol. Im going to take my time with mine, but thank you for making the video anyway.
crude soldering
very good soldering.
The metal noises are infinitely preferable to the irrelevant, annoying so-called "music" on many UA-cam offerings
Of you want people to be able to follow along ,to much slower ,name the resistor value ,like red red black and were you are putting it ,I couldn't follow your video to jerkie,
Sorry about that, but I'll try to do better next time.
Learn how to solder first.
