Omg I just love you!!! DEFINITELY don’t fear retinol. Start with retinol a few times a week and work up to every day. Then try retinaldehydes (only 1 step below Retin-A) and as your skin adjusts you can work up to daily on that too. These are the gold standard for aging skin and have been studied for years and years!! If you start peeling then back up a bit on how often you are using it but it is definitely a sign your skin is turning over cells, collagen and elastin production, and takes years off!! Fear not!! Love you and keep these videos coming!!!!!

Try the retinol after your moisturizer, it will give a little barrier between and let u not peel as much !!
I have tretinoin and it’s STRONG. But I feel retinol keeps my acne at bay and I can not live without retinol and Lactic acid! ♥️ I was in heaven with this video especially because you gave your thoughts and opinions whether you liked it or not whether u tried it whether you knew what it was or not u looked it up. My favourite pixi product is the peel and polish! It's a chemical and physical exfoliator that I use once a week and my skin is so smooth now and my pores look a lot smaller as they're no longer congested. I’m an oily girl too and that is one product that made an immediate difference to the texture of my skin. If you have any blackheads then the morning after you've done the peel and polish put a comedone extractor over them and they come right out hardly any pressure. Before I started using that product my blackheads just wouldn't go away but this has cleared up the stubborn ones too. I love the rose tonic when I’m using retinols as you don't want to be too harsh on your skin and mix acids that is very bad. So I love the Pixi rose toner for then, before that I had an organic rose toner but thanks to Caroline Hirons I began looking at ingredients and the organic hydrating rose toner had alcohol denat as one of the top ingredients which dries your skin out in a bad way. So I looked up Pixi's one and the ingredients are so much better!

I use a retinol by The Ordinary nightly, and I am really seeing results in my lines and wrinkles. I use it with HA and Matryxl over it, topped by either an oil or a moisturizer. The Ordinary (not affiliated) has changed my skin...I had a thyroid crash which basically aged my skin by about 10 years. Their products are inexpensive and you tailor your skin care to what you need. Also jojoba oil has changed my skin from an oily mess to nearly normal...oily skin needs moisture or it will just keep producing more and more oil.

Ps-those new bangs of yours are making you look soooooooo stinking YOUNG! So much so that I’m seriously considering joining the “bang club” again 🤣 -so far do you regret getting them, or do you wished you would have got them shorter, longer, or not as many bangs? I battle the “4 finger forehead” 😩😂🤣 and had bangs for majority of my life, BUT having them seemed as if I was sooo out dated. Soooo a few years back I grew mine out. At times I really miss having them, but other times I see how much more quickly I can get ready with out them. But I’m sooooo loving the bangs on you!!! Thanks for doing this video I’m off to watch it now 😘❤️ -Barbara

Gothamista’s videos on retinol are super helpful. You’re getting peeling bc you’re using them too often. Retinols CAN be effective WITHOUT peeling. Start out just using it once a week. After 2-3 weeks, increase to twice a week, and so on. And don’t use the retinol on the same night as an acid treatment - alternate, or move your acid treatment to the morning portion of your routine.

With the Drunk Elephant Retinol, just take a small dab two or three times a week on targeted areas where you’re noticing fine lines. Moisturize afterward. No peeling! Also, just tap the sealed edge on your counter to stop it from oozing.

the A-passioni is my favorite. It doesn't dry me out/make me flake because I mix it with the b-hydra serum they have (Drunk Elephant actually recommends this, especially when first using this product). It works really well. Retinols are designed to increase cell turn over (something that starts taking longer as we age). The "general" rule of them is to take your age, for example, if you're in your twenties and just starting retinols you can use it up to twice a week, three times for thirties, etc. This of course, is a generalization and not perfect for everyone. You don't want to use them two nights in a row and you don't want to move up to more often per week until you notice it's not benefiting you anymore. Start with 1-2 nights per week and make sure to ALWAYS wear sunscreen! :)

The Glow recipe Watermelon Facial mist is my all time favorite! I agree, it has the best sprayer known to man. It's like your face is being kissed by a cloud with Angel's sitting on top. 😂 I really really wish I could have used the Pixi Glow tonic! Everyone raves about it, so I bought a travel size and I had an allergic reaction to it! I tried it twice and both times it broke me out and caused a pretty bad reaction. I was so bummed! Same with the DE Framboise Glycolic serum. So I'm still on the hunt for a good treatment toner for textured, sensitive, combo skin. Should I try the Glossier one? I'm curious the ingredient deck compared to the Pixi one. Thoughts? I loved this video! I would really love a face wash video too! Thanks You! ❤😊

Retinol is definitely necessary! If your skin is peeling you are using it too often or using too much at once. To start out just use it 2 or 3 times a week, not every day. Then as long as your skin isn't reacting in a negative way (really red or peeling etc) you can up your usage.

  • @JesusEveryDay28
    @JesusEveryDay28 5 років тому

On retinols: start with once a week for first week. Then every 4 days. Then every 3 days. Then maybe every other night. You HAVE to wear an SPF while using retinols. Also if you want to help with peeling, apply your moisturizer first, let it dry for a significant amount of time, then apply retinol. Good luck!

I was scared of making the move to retinol - like you! However turning 45 I felt it was time! So I watched so many videos and talked to my dermatologist and decided to give Curology a try. After just two months I was hooked - I saw a noticeable difference in my sun spots and now I have worked my way up to every other night. Never once pealing. Check out their website - FYI the “subscription” comes with face wash and moisturize, they are fine but I have other favs. You can modify the subscription so keep that in mind.

Retinol really turns skin over more deeply than the acids do. It's kind of like creating a smoother base from the inside out. Then it's easier to maintain that base with acids. Tips to experiment without hurting yourself with retinol: Google the actual retinol concentrations of products and slowly work your way up (take days off if you need) until you have a strength you comfortably can use only a couple times per week. Retinol also goes by different names as it increases concentration. Yes as you begin you will have flaking and sensitivity its not terrible if you start with low concentration though. If you see more acne as well it is either sensitivity as it adjusts or more likely it's pushing to the surface deep congestion. Keep going and you will have beat your skin to the chase at forming acne. Retinol is truly the most effective skincare and then you can nourish your skin more completely with serums, moisturizers, etc. I'm extremely oily and at night I use thick moisturizers in combination with retinol. Use retinol first for most effectiveness and if you can wait 30 minutes that's the best to give it time to work before adding other skincare. Hope this helps someone!

Use the lower concentrate products on the other nights as a night time moisturisers. Build retinol use up over time as your skin has to adjust. Always use an SPF the following morning. Retinol advice. Go to your doctor and get a prescription strength tretinoin gel. I got the .04%. I’m in my late thirties and it makes a ton of difference with texture. Use it two times a week at night, after you wash and moisturize. Let your skin dry, come back 15 minutes later and use the tretinoin. I have experienced very little peeling, which was probably mostly due to sun exposure this summer and not the tretinoin. It has made a world of difference and I no longer have texture.

You’re not supposed to use retinol with acids at the same time. If your skin gets irritated, try using a retinol with another anti aging serum or moisturizer until your skin gets used to it, then you could put it on alone, let it sink in then put on your other skincare

Nicole: You have to start following Caroline Hirons. She recently did a series about retinol where she goes through all the different brands, the strengths and how to use them. Check out her blog and her UA-cam channel. Everything you want to know about skin care, you will learn from her. She also has a book coming out next spring. ❤️❤️❤️

Check out Angie Hot and Flashy she does an in-depth on retinol and how to use it.start using it 1x a week at night on top of your other serums (good genes) and before moisturizer. Then work up to 2x a week at night and then 3x etc and your skin will get used to it.

They changed good genes in the Uk & Europe, it’s now glycolic acid!!! I’m allergic to Glycolic acid so I’m waiting to come to the states to stock up as it’s amazing. People say Farmacy Honeymoon glow is the same but I read the ingredients & it has glycolic acid as the 2/3 ingredient 🙄

You will peel and your skin and skin cells will improve and come up to the surface. Our skin cannot exfoliate by itself like it use to so we need to help and speed up the process. This is your answer that your talking about and want. I would go to a dermatologist instead of buying expensive and in the dark buying. Once you start a good retinal get over the first peel you will never look back. Put all over your face avoid eye area let it sink in 10 min. Then moisturize heavier moisturizer on neck and dec.

Everybody reccomends drunk elephant but it BURNS 😭 Drunk elephant burns me, cetaphil burns me, clinique burns me, even products labeled for sensitive skin. It's so aggravating! I have dry sensitive skin and I've been struggling to find a good one. The only one I dont have trouble with is aveeno foaming cleanser for sensitive. I'm waaaaay too chicken to try retinol 😭
