    Usually he equivocates and doesn't give his full opinion, but in this video it was great, He kept it real. Someone needs to do a compare Console to Art of Predictions.

    Great review. I’d like to point out, I have dark skin and use silent assistant regularly in closeup situations. This specific gimmick DOES NOT need to be modified for dark skin folks. I know it seems like it might if you’re not dark skin yourself, but you don’t due to its placement. We are kind of the same in some specific ways lol. 👋

    Great video, I like the head to head format, but only on the proviso you also do separate reviews for each of the combatants.
    On a side issue, talking of the Raven, I know it's 'old technology' but you really should do a review (I know you did the raven DVD a while ago, but I'm talking about the actual device). I was at my local magic group a little while ago and I suggested using the raven for something in a general chat, and was really surprised to find there were quite a few people who had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.

    Great Video David!! Can you perform the Control effects with the Silent Assistant gimmick ? What really makes me wonder about getting Control is the size of it. You mention this very clearly during the review. Invisibility does matter a lot .

    Nice video!!! I just got control and it's amazing! You can't go wrong with it. By watching all the routines and practicing some of them, I decided to do the same effects with a ring (if you know what I mean). Personally, I think it looks more natural and you don't have to worry about flashing the gimmick. Overall, control wins.

      Alejandro Gil Rodriguez man..all was good I already decided for buy CONTROL.. but after watching this video I am worried. I don't have light skin like you..but not too dark..medium position.. Now my question is..Is it a very big problem??? I mean the skin colour..you got it...so I am saying you...please answer me..Should I buy CONTROL or not?? 😞😞 I will really thankful if you answer my question.. have a good day..☺☺

    • @alejandrogilrodriguez3941
      @alejandrogilrodriguez3941 6 років тому

      MR Whatever S square the skin color doesn't really matter if you're good just by doing sleight pf hand and by being confident. It's all about distraction and keeping your audience busy. Should you buy it? Well, the trick itself it's amazing. To be honest, it does requires a lot of practice, patience, sleight of hand, and distraction. Some of the effects they teach you are easy (personal opinion). I love sleight of hand and I don't really worry about the gimmicks. But for the price you're paying, the gimmicks, and the two hours video, it really worth the money. The main gimmick I found it kinda "bulky" and it's a kind of hard to hide it. But as I said before, if you're an experienced magician, if you're good at sleight of hand, and if you know how to keep your audience distract it. Go ahead and buy it. If you buy it and you feel disappointed just buy a PK ring to help you in some performances such as the cup and ball routine which I found amazing.

    I've been waiting for a comparison like this! These seem so similar. I found this helpful to understand some primary 'value' differences, but maybe not which ones are better workers for different situations. I did see a different review video that broke down the two as 'SA' being better for swapping/hiding small things and Control better for 'moving' big things. So, a coin swap might lend itself to SA and making a bottle move across the table to Control. Thinking about the two in the context of a routine helps. Thanks for the great reviews, David!

    Hey David! Thanks for taking my comparison suggestion into account. Your already super informative channel just went up a notch! I totally agree with the raven comparison (hell if you liked the trailer for S.A you should get a Raven, that could possibly suffice) Control reminds me of the old M5 (I think thats the name) PK system from ellusionist, just that this is more hands-on (pun intended).
    Here is a comparison suggestion for you: Oddworld v.s Paul Curry's original OOTW (Or Paul Harris' OOTG)
    Keep it up man!
    Oh, one last thing, just wondering, are you a full time magician or semipro or hobbyist? Just wondering, since I feel your reviews are geared more towards the casual performer and that’s what I like about them the most.

    Hi David. I've been thinking about picking up a Raven, and I have a question for you. You keep mentioning that a Raven is $15, and I think you're talking about the "mini" version, as the regular Raven is $30. Do you think the mini Raven is enough Raven for my Ravening needs? Of course I'd rather spend $15 than $30, but what if I can't Raven enough? (Serious question, despite goofy language.)

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  6 років тому

      Yes the mini is $15. I've heard it's just as good - except smaller in size

    • @EvanForman
      @EvanForman 6 років тому

      I just wonder if "smaller" means "less capable" in any significant sense. I've looked around, but I can't find any good comparisons.

    • @ahumanithink249

    I love your reviews, still I found them to be too “cryptic”, I mean, we all agree with the rule of not exposing magic, but layman will never find your channel neither they’ll be able to figure out a gimmick name. Personally I would find useful knowing something more.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  6 років тому +1

      Good to know

    • @Bozzy2000
      @Bozzy2000 6 років тому +1

      I think I would have to disagree on that one. About a year ago, I would have been in the same boat. I had no idea what a PK ring was or the method behind certain effects. I would hear (on channels like this) certain topics alluded to - and I would go and research via books or other sources (magiccafe, for example) until I understood. Not everything has to be spelled out to the n'th degree - if people are serious about magic, they will put in the time and learn. I was a layman at one point and I still found this channel so I guess the youtube algorithms do their job, heh. I get what you are saying, that we should help people learn and not make it quite so "hidden or cryptic" but sometimes it falls in the category of making sure people are willing to help themselves and put in some effort. my 2 cents..

    • @frightrisk7407
      @frightrisk7407 5 років тому

      I agree completely. It is just wasted time. The first three minutes just talking about how much bigger one box is than the other. The only way to really find out is to be a member of a local club and hope different people have purchased different effects so you can see them. It is just annoying and completely uninformative to have someone dance around everything. I get that in most effects, you can do them yourself, so once you learn the "secret", you wouldn't be motivated to buy it. This is especially true of things that are just a piece of paper telling you how to do a card trick. But for physical effects like this, especially things you are not likely to fabricate yourself, it sure would be nice to be able to see the things. "Look at the size comparison... Now here one is on each hand, this one is more obvious, but this one has a much stronger gimmick...". And a comparison is complicated in an effect like this because do you want to pay for a "better" gimmick or do you need more routines? That answer might be different for different magicians. I can come up with my own routines, so care about the best gimmick for performing. Others might be looking for ideas and care more about getting complete performance ideas.

    I find it amusing how you complain about Control flying off your fingers, but then admit to not tweaking and adjusting it to your fingers, which is what is recommended in the instructions. Naturally it will fly off, there's no way such a gimmick will fit everyone equally without adjustment. Found that a bit irritating.
