You are making our life so much easier by visiting each hotel on your spare time. Thank you for sharing your experiences and I really appreciate it. Good job.
Thanks, I actually visited each one for housing on hikes, but I am happy to be able to share my perceptions of each so that visitors can make better informed choices.
My wife and I stayed here in 2016 and 2019. Just loved the location which you couldn't surpass. The cabins are just so cosy, a little dated perhaps but charming. Bright Angle Trail begins literally on your doorstep and the rim itself is just metres away.
I agree, they are great for hiking and some have views. There's nothing like a hot bath after a long hike. And it is great to get out and be on the scene in seconds. Thanks so much for your comment!
I stayed last weekend in one of the cheapest rooms at Bright Angel, Powell Lodge... The room smelled perfectly fine & noise wasn't an issue although we were dead tired at night after hiking... The shared showers were always clean & nice. I would definitely recommend saving a $100 or more to stay in these rooms. It was May so not really the warmest time of the year but it was perfect. I wish we had booked more nights to be honest.
Thanks for that perspective, maybe I just have had bad luck in the Lodge rooms, plus, it was in the heat of Summer. Sorry to have steered you wrong in this matter, we all have different tastes and requirements.
That was an interesting review. For 136 dollars, I would like a bathroom 😅 I did like the cabin, but that last room you had looked really good with that view! 😀
I think the view is a real treat for a birthday or other celebration. But since I spend 10-14 hours in the Canyon, I usually just sleep in the room, and the cheapest one will suffice. The rooms without the bath are kind of fun once, but beyond that, convenience prevails. 😀
Bright Angel cabins, small bathroom but at least you have your own otherwise unbeatable. Very spacious rooms, plenty of windows, big ceiling fan, refrigerator, coffee maker and best location of all. No need for a flashlight here...been here many times..A MUST, book very early...North Rim Western cabins
I love the location of the Bright Angel cabins, but I hate the noise in the adjoined cabins. Luckily, there are two single cabins. The compromise is they have showers instead of bath tubs, but the advantage is you can make noise at all hours and not worry about your neighbors. North Rim Western Cabins are the only place I have stayed in the North lately, but the cost is exceeding my budget. I will probably try the motel rooms after my next set of NR reservations. Again, the noise in the cabins in the North is a problem, but I usually get an adjoining cabin with my brother and I can tell him to shut up. Thanks for your observations!
My jaw dropped when you said those rooms without their own baths cost $136 per night. I was a bellman at Bright Angel and Thunderbird lodges in the late 1970s. Back then, those same rooms started at $14 per night. The hotels on the South Rim were operated by the AmFac Corporation during that time.
Yes, the price increases are crazy. About a decade ago, I paid $67 for the Bright Angel Cabins, now they are $233, and set to go up to $270 soon. The Park Service has adopted a new policy where vendors can basically charge whatever they want. I have a video on the topic, but it does not include details on the newest policy, which I hope to cover soon. Thanks for your comment. ua-cam.com/video/EclPYX8JjlI/v-deo.html

My daughter and I stayed in one pf the cabins years ago. I'd do it all again just because of access to the trail.
I love that fast access to the trail. Unfortunately, Bright Angel Trail will be closed for several months soon.
