Good video. These tend to be painful to watch because, people pack a lot of stuff they don't need. Your kit was well thought out and, well sorted. Good job.
Thank you for taking the time and efforts necessary to keep creating enjoyable and useful content.I understand that for every minute of video, there is at least10 minutes prepping it for consumption by the viewer.keep them coming please.Cheers from the States!!
You're a gem sir. Right down to the showing it used unmodified you've done a great service to me and others. I just bought this surplus item pack for $29 American. Quit the price for an external frame pack.
Hey Fella, I've just purchased this pack and this video has been very helpful. I'm generally really good at packing, but it was nice to see how someone else would do it 👍
This clearly illustrates the difference in climates between many areas. Ild freeze to death in the winter if thats all I had unless I had a couple feet of snow to insulate with.
i was thinking to add a mesh to mine & i really like your compression strap idea.. would you mind doing a closer examination of the straps and how you attach kit to them? cheers
I think I heard you say you pack your sleeping clothes with your sleeping bag. I do the same thing and pack it inside my sleeping bag or poncho liner, which ever I'm carrying.. Those clothes are dedicated for sleeping only. Dry clothing is sure a lot warmer and It also helps keep your bag cleaner and fresher smelling when you do that.
Great video, thank you for taking the time go through what you carry. Can I please ask what size the ortleib drybag you use to keep your sleeping bag in is please? Thanks.
I am sure you use a tarp rather than a tent for good reasons. But somehow it looks very exposed. If the wind blows that way, would it get very uncomfortable?
I always carry a tent anymore instead of a tarp after having the wind change directions in the middle of the night and waking up with snow packed up against me at -20 C. Worse than that is when it pours down rain and water seeps under the tarp. My place is @8,500 feet (2600 meters) in the Rocky Mountains, USA. A tent is worth the extra 16 oz (.5 kg)for me over a tarp.
👍 actually the prices of the swedish rucksack are grown into the stratosphere... 80 - 100 euros are a little bit toooo much. 😏 i was looking for the Sani rucksack.. no way. maybe i will get a simple cheap frame.. take some us shoulderstraps.. an the swiss Lederol rucksack.. under this also a canoepack... we will see... have fun... stay healthy! Greetings.. Hans
Great video I have a 35 Liter pack but it isn't the one you show here and it doesn't have a frame or a place at the bottom for tying things. So my question to you is any recommendations on packing a pack like the one I have? I ask because when I went camping this past Wed. I had the pack but also had a few bags to put the gear I could not fit in the pack.
Hi , I was watching this video and I question has popped to my head. If you cares your axe in two separate bits, what is the trick to as secure that once you join the two pieces and use it to split the wood, the head just doesn’t fly away? Thanks!!! 😊
Why do you need to pack -balance an outside frame pack differently than an inside frame one? The only thing I could possibly think of is that putting heavy stuff up high(er) could pull the fabric back; bending and rounding the back panel of the rucksack. You get the same thing if you stuff it really full or hang a lot of stuff on the front outside, but you can manage that with (very) good packing. If you (anyone who reads this) would like to know my tips and tricks on how to manage that let me know and I'll try to describe it!
Determined to get one of these but when I do occasionally look about for one I can never find a decent one that's cheap. Is the linen one or the synthetic one better?

You've gotta feel for all those trying to buy this bag now. Some crazy prices on eBay !
Its mad! I have found the same with altberg boots recently.
Nice one . I always seem to bring stuff I dont use . But I'm learning thanks to my own mistakes and people like you . Thank you 👍
An excellent and very nice video! Very good explanation, it makes a lot of fun to watch this, thank you very much.

Vulnerable tent from wild animals such as jackals.
Infact I like this tent design
Great advice for a novice like myself, cheers Neil 👍

The lk35 and the Alice pack seem quite similar
Hello great video what size dry bag is that

Another superb video mate , do you carry a separate bag for your booze lol 😉
There is room for a bottle of red in there too !

What is the size of your groundsheet and reflective mat?
I was thinking about the same items, but I’m doubting which size to use.
The reflective mat is a standard car windscreen protector. The groundsheet is 2m x 1m
What hawk do you use? Did it come with the sheath?
Neil has a Video on the Hawk and why he chose it! 👍🏻
Where’d you get the sheath for your tomahawk
My brother made mine. His email address is leon@greencraft.me.uk
Mate hi..Are Irish or British?
British (English).
Haglöfs developed this pack for the Swedish army in the 70s.
Determined to get one of these but when I do occasionally look about for one I can never find a decent one that's cheap.
Is the linen one or the synthetic one better?
