The worst think that could have happened to X-wing is this "2.5" rule change. AMG lost Soo many players with that crap and they rules are not good for the game.
It’s extremely plausible that AMG will loose the license in the upcoming renewal in 2023. To be a TINY BIT fair to AMG, the contract was sealed and done long before the 1 year+ shipping crisis, and probably came together either before COVID or before COVID hit hard. With limited access to new product w/o paying ab exponentially high price, they released the last of the FFG content and made a bold move trying to turn X-Wing into Marvel CP-which killed most casual and competitive players. They were trying to mitigate some issues that affected all 3 groups, yet their “solution” made everything worse. Ultimately, they just Don’t understand X-WING and what to do to make it flourish. Sadly they shouldn’t have even acquired it in the 1st place with their limited resources and having only experience creating a super-hero skirmish game, that’s never even remotely interested me….and this is coming from a guy who loves comics. I know I tend to come off mean in my criticism of AMG, but-again-that’s part of their problem. They neither made effort to engage the community about their 2.5 plans, nor do they remotely try to have an open dialogue-which is sad-especially since I know how incredibly well the X-Wing hardcore community understands this game. Whether it’s people who know the lore, people who create outstanding programs for squad-building (YASB LEGACY!), competitive folk who understand in-depth strategy/have created amazing analytical tools for meta and/or the amazing people doing homebrew stuff. There is so many highly intelligent and invested people into this game that it’s a shame how they never really used that resource to do some research. I’m not saying that they have to take EVERY advice, but it’s a systematic failure as a company. My hope is that Disney & Asmodee create their own company to handle the Star Wars content. There is so much more money to be made if they do it “In-House” instead of just selling the IP. I know the latter is easier, but in the heavily saturated market of board gaming-the Star Wars IP is an amazing beacon to draw in new players-not to mention quality designers, artists, production managers, PR, editors, ect… I have so many ideas that would allow X-Wing to Flourish for years to come, as I imagine many others do who are invested in the ip/game-they just need to get the contract back, invest in the product with a quality team and there is no doubt the money will roll right in.
…still waiting for my support for my epic ships and the compatible points for my gauntlet, razorcrest and rogue class that AMG were excitedly peddling around this time last year…cheap dime store hoods… keep practicing your dioramas…
My favorite dogfight is the Death Star trench assault from episode IV. I still remember seeing it for the first time when it came out in 1976. It was magic...
My favourite X-wing story tale. was at the 2019 AUS system open. I was going 4 and 1 needed one more win to make the cut. 350 gamers, it had been a long day. We played the final game to time, it came down to one dice roll. He rolled 1 hit, I had 4 evade dice at range three through a rock with two focus tokens. I rolled 4 blanks, used elusive and rerolled another blank. I was gutted, he won by 3 points after havling my ship. What a day.
It's so tough to pick a favorite space battle... I might have to give it to the Battle of Yavin just for the way John William's score syncs with the action. I'm also hoping we still get the Raider reprint.
I’m sure they are working on it, they do have a lot of things to work on though and they need to get their act together if they want to keep the license
HOTH is probably my favorite, but what makes the SW IP so good is the ‘world-building’ in which the best battles are the ones you get to play out yourself.
I was pretty bummed when I watched your video about the Raider being canceled. I was thinking about getting the Corvette for my Rebels but now I'm not sure. I also noticed that stores have very low stock when he comes to Xwing. Tough for new players to dive in
It seems like, these days, FFG (and/or those to whom it has passed the licensing) has forgotten about everything -- except Legion, with which it saturates the market in a glut like I've never seen for any game in recent memory. Well, news to FFG, most of us aren't into Legion. It's driven away a significant portion of its customers, and not just with lack of Star Wars merch, but practically everything.
The xwing comic that introduced baron fel and the rebel campaign to take the brentaal system is, was and will always be my favorite. Micheal stockpole knocked that comic outta the park.
I enjoyed the Battle of Coruscant. Perhaps it was seeing the CIS and Republic ships on screen that put it over the top for me. On a smaller scale the Star Wars: X-Wing fan made short on UA-cam is high-speed fun.
Honestly, I'm a big fan of one from the old ccomics. How a Sith (Naga Sadow) could create illusions affecting so many people at once to make them think they were outnumbered so severely is an incredible tactic I want to see more in Star Wars. I understand he was using an artifact, but it's a clever approach that almost won them the battle (as bad as that may have been for everyone else).
My all time favorite space battle is the Battle over Scarif. How Darth Vader’s Devastator ISD jumps out of hyperspace and DESTROYS the ships is awesome. I also like the Battle over Ryloth in season one of the Clone Wars series.
The opening to revenge of the Sith for sure, just the way that they open up the movie following the aethersprites and then they go over the huge ship to show how wide scale the battle is.
I'd love to get an Xwing Scale Arquitens Comman Cruiser. It would probably be more expensive than the Armada Super Star Destroyer, but it would be worth it. I would 100% run a list that is just a Command Cruiser. It probably wouldn't be great, but itd be fun!
I just got a new place and got married this year. I have been busy but the goal is to do 1-2 epic games a month for this reason! where are all the big ship battles !
Officially died 2/22/22 due to AMG’s obfuscated selling points, ie;spend 6 months AFTER acquiring FFG XWING ‘selling’ the Huge ships and rebel/imperial/scum box sets WITH Epic only cards inside THEN on 2/22/22 announce the ‘tournament chase’ that IS Xwing 2.5. We’re all still awaiting AMG’s ‘product support’ for Epic, INCLUDING our lost points for Gauntlet, razorcrest, and Rogue class ships AS WELL AS my lost loadout points for a generic ‘chassis’…ya Epic isn’t looking so good at the moment I’m afraid…
@@lloydpowell5683 On my channel I scratch built a couple “Mega” ships since Epic was not cutting it for me lol. I did a 6 foot long Immobilizer cruiser and even a couple frigates and corvettes to. this coming year is my year to be somebody on this platform haha.
Best space battle would be the Lusankya vs Rogue Squadron fleet in The Bacta War. Yeah its a book but snubfighters, freighters, Alderanian War Frigate, and 2 smaller star destroyers beating down a Super Class Star Destroyer... oh yeah. That would be an amazing thing to see on a big movie screen.
AMG is managing 4 games lines but still staffed for 1. We won’t see a better content schedule until Asmodee invests more money to staff them up appropriately. Which means never, so this is what we get for Star Wars.
One thing to consider about rule changes, most people who play these games do so casually. I'd be surprised if even a tenth of any game's players ever once play in a tournament.
I think that even if AMG has no plans for Huge ships it makes sense for them to keep talking like they plan on updating them eventually. Last thing they need right now is more fan backlash lol.
I think that ship has sailed. It's been almost two years since the handoff, and AMG still hasn't announced a single new ship developed entirely by them. It's clear that AMG and Asmodee couldn't care less about X-Wing. It's one of their forgotten stepchildren that they'll "eventually get around to focusing on." X-Wing is only alive these days in select areas and only because of hardcore fans of the game.
I like displaying my huge ships on my shelves, but they make X-Wing take too far long for the time that I have available, so I have played literally one game with huge ships ever. Plus, X-Wing died in this area about the time that the huge ships became available for 2nd edition, so I've never played with huge ships in 2.0 at all.
Would be nice if they came back. Couldnt't buy the CR90, or GR-75. The supply is so low that I had to 3D print every component (luckily I am a god and managed to create a 1-1 copy based on my friend's conversion kit).
I think 2.5 is really well suited for Huge ships and Epic style play. The list building is a good fit for Huge ships, and the emphasis on scenarios makes a lot of sense.
I think the huge ships have no real place with what they want of x wing these days. It used to be about the narrative feeling of the models and units now it’s just kind of stripped down mechanics at least how it feels to be. Not really a big fan of their direction and why in part I stayed with 1st edition x wing. Edit: I remember you crab from way back on the FFG forums with 1.0. I know you wish and hope it’ll be better than it’s going but I fear they are killing X wing and may just kill off Armada eventually. This is just some sad stuff to see. It just doesn’t feel like they have the games in the hands of people with passion for it anymore. As well if they don’t get the license for it it’s dead in the water like happened to all their warhammer properties over night pretty much. Maybe the release of hold people over stuff and minimal effort is a set up for dropping Star Wars entirely.
Armada isn't already dead? FFGs worst mistake was selling out to another company. They were the gold standard once. So many games (Armada, Imperial Assault) killed off despite all the "it's not going anywhere" talk.
Battle of Scarif for me. Not only the setup, but the execution. It's one of the most cohesive space engagements depicted in Star Wars. Battle of Atollon is up there too.
AMG barely cares about xwing as a whole. let alone huge ships
They care enough to f*ck xwing into the ground.
I like the Battle of Endor. I love how a Y-Wing gets the drop on two TIE Interceptors after they take an A-Wing. That pilot is a hero.
The worst think that could have happened to X-wing is this "2.5" rule change. AMG lost Soo many players with that crap and they rules are not good for the game.

…still waiting for my support for my epic ships and the compatible points for my gauntlet, razorcrest and rogue class that AMG were excitedly peddling around this time last year…cheap dime store hoods… keep practicing your dioramas…
I'll be playing X-Wing this Tuesday for the first time in over 3 years... I hope I remember stuff!
My favorite dogfight is the Death Star trench assault from episode IV. I still remember seeing it for the first time when it came out in 1976. It was magic...
GR-75 really needs a reprint. Been years since they were available anywhere .
Great video! Like always, love the optimism! I think there's lots of hope for xwing

really any of the larger fights in the rogue squadron books, they were all so good.
If it counts I really liked the evacuation of Hoth. Rebels used planetary ion cannon to disable ISD's and just run.
I’m sure they are working on it, they do have a lot of things to work on though and they need to get their act together if they want to keep the license
HOTH is probably my favorite, but what makes the SW IP so good is the ‘world-building’ in which the best battles are the ones you get to play out yourself.
Your lucky AMG is not giving xwing the armada treatment.

Best Space Battle for me is the Battle of the Second Death Star in RoTJ. The scale and feeling is just perfect.
The opening to revenge of the Sith for sure, just the way that they open up the movie following the aethersprites and then they go over the huge ship to show how wide scale the battle is.
Huge ships would be a great thing to have for a co-op game, which AMG will likely never make..
We need to do what we always do, talk about it till it’s fixed.😏
I'd love to get an Xwing Scale Arquitens Comman Cruiser. It would probably be more expensive than the Armada Super Star Destroyer, but it would be worth it.
I would 100% run a list that is just a Command Cruiser. It probably wouldn't be great, but itd be fun!
Any ship battle with Slave 1 is good in my books.

I had just purchased huge ships
Right at the end of ffg and have not really had a chance to use them.
I'm still trying to get hold of a gozanti, I spent ages getting a CR90 and Raider.

The best battle in my opinion is the one with Rogue One on the shield. And I would like them to add the Consular Cruiser for the Republic.
I love the battle from Rebels season 4 the battle of Lothal where Hera destroys Skerris
If I remember well the CR-90 can be played for the Republic already.
Looking forward to huge ships coming back but can just use 2.0 points for now, which I’d use for usual list building anyways.
Fav Dogfight is the delta 7 jedi starfighter vs slave 1 in the astroid field. Obiwan vs Jango
The comic books have had 2 great rematches of Vader and Luke dogfights that highlight Luke’s character growth
Favorite space battle, rogue one final battle... radus coming in etc...
Does Lone Star blowing up MegaMaid count as a space battle?

@@Wh0isTh3D0ct0r Oh I've written AMG off completely. When I do play X-Wing we use the 2.0 Legacy rules.
@@daltonmccormick5221 If I could actually find any local players, I would do the same.
I always felt huge ships should be for fun games only, so I am not really all that concerned about the timing of AMG getting an update out for these.
Just getting back into xwing and wish these would make a comeback. Never played with them.

Hammer head charge in xwing will make my day
The best space battle is the one in Rouge one
And everyone forgets first order and resistance 💀
I think 2.5 is really well suited for Huge ships and Epic style play. The list building is a good fit for Huge ships, and the emphasis on scenarios makes a lot of sense.
I'm still hoping that they find the container ship that has all of Imperial Raiders on it.
If AMG brings back the huge ships it would would be interesting to see a few more clone wars eras like the light cruiser or the pelta
I would like to see 2.5 epic support. I thought epic was best in 1.0 with scenario play. Best space battle. Either Endor or Attalon.
I need to be able to justify buying a space squid
From an armada player: atleast xwing got more than 1.
Battle of Scarif
