That Delphos won't need much EQ. But all the mics are a great. A woman's voice has high registers and you want to make sure, it doesn't sound glassy. *The best mic is what you have*
He he, "cloudy" is just the word I was looking for when I heard the MA-50. But I must say, hands-down, in almost all the examples I think the Delphos was missing out on the little variations in her voice, especially when she changed between loud and soft. The V4 caught all of that. - So even though it's very often better to change mic than start EQing, in this case I would have picked the V4 and then EQed then low mids down a little bit. When you mentioned the prices, I was pretty surprised!
Hey Czar Im a singe and songwriter, I currently use a Senheisser Mk4 really good transformer mic. Well im looking to upgrade, betwen options of the Vanguard V4 and Mic Parts T12 Platinum edition. Which one would you advocate for? I have soulful raspy end voice
I don't have any experience with the T12. The V4 will give you a clean neutral tone, perfect if you want to add your own color later. The T12 has a transfomer so it should have some color for you upfront.
I think the V4 was the best made her voice sound more forward naturally alive picked up detail better better separation as well sounded airy sounding then the delphos 2 and was the cheapest out of all of 3. I don't understand the clarity you're getting from the delphos i would say the V4 had more clarity. What does it sound like through a mic valve preamp?
While the V4 sounds warmer and fuller I have to say that the Delphos wins for me for the openness and clarity. The V4 sounds a bit congested in comparison.
The MA-50 sounded the most natural too me! But when she got loud you could hear some graininess! But overall the MA-50 is the most unique performance, but this test is incomplete, and czar u know that! Has to be same chain, and and gain matched with no reverb, because that is always gonna change the sound!
Everything had the same chain. Didn't have enough mic stands to set up all three to capture at the same time. Graininess is the perfect word to describe the loud parts on the ma-50.
@@TheAudioCzar Oh ok, my apologies!!! Yes graininess is there, but maybe through a different pre or mic position, it could help the sound or change it all together! But thanks for this shootout! I also totally agree the MA-50 on Rap vocal is amazing!
Great shootout. I agree with you about the Delphos but I kind of like the V4 better in general. Very subtle differences between the 2 but the Delphos is better for her voice. I didn’t like the Mojave. For the price the V4 is the way to go.
MA-50 had a touch of the MOSFET mist, but otherwise a balanced, slightly recessed performance. The Delphos was amazing, the Vanguard shockingly underwhelming. Nice review!
I liked the V4, not sure why ;)
Lots of Audio Toys.
I wanna see the whole studio tour , as I’ve subscribed since you had your JDK’s R24’s
PEACE ✌🏽

I wish you had the Vanguard Lab v13 in this line up to go head to head with the Roswell Delphos II. Still a nice review.
Great comparison! I liked the Delphos the best, as well. It added a silky vintage top-end it had. Was it the lowest in self-noise?
V4 to me was best, overall. By a lot. This was less apparent on the softer passages oh, but really noticeable on the louder ones
v4 sounded best to me hands down!!!
V4 really holds its own. If this was a pop song I definitely would of chose the V4
back in stock ;)
great! Iike to see this on rap vocals
The Mojave is a lot fuller; and it also has a very smooth top end that will not give any major issues with sibilance.
Great review once again. Between the V4 and the Delphos 2 which do you think would be best for just doing voice over ?
I would say Delphos, it handled S's better
i looked on your video list but didn't find a review of just the MA-50. have you done one? this vid is a very good analysis. thanks!
yep, ua-cam.com/video/9zOORXAmYeE/v-deo.html
More full V4 but with that voice... I'll take the Delphos II.
I liked the Delphos as well

ma-50 had a warm tone, v4 was clear and open but not harsh

Are you using a Presonus studio monitor? If yes, which one and what's your take on it?
The monitors I'm using are the Sceptre S6. I have a review I did, search Presonus Sceptre S6 review
@@TheAudioCzar thanks. Will do

I have a ma-1000 w a Avalon 737, I actually thought that's what I came here for. Lol
