The built in +1,5 sec attack animation definitely needs to be changed for mace skills to be even remotely fun to play. And quarterstaves 10-12% crit rate with 1.4 attack speed is overpowered too.
Seriously! They put up so many barriers to going fast, but we all try to go fast... so the game play is just weird. I'm playing LE until the next PoE 1 league and hopefully they redesign a lot of PoE 2 end game to be more fun. Too punishing and overly slow for me. Looks and sounds phenomenal but I can't push myself to do the campaign again and endgame was meh.
hey there Mathilification, can you leave us a in detail guide in this build. not the leveling but rather what you chose on the passive skill tree and your choise in gear, i saw you use mostly str nodes on the tree so how exactly do you use all those quoterstaff skills that need dex?
Fr, in the campaign I was prioritizing attack speed on my slam warrior even got those 2% attack speed starter merc nodes and then i found out it does almost nothing.
From the 10000 of times i've seen people throw around the "worst decision/feature in arpg history" the last couple of days, this is the first time i actually agree with it.
For even more fun, it's easy to end up with negative attack speed on top of that as Warrior as several of the 2h nodes reduce it and there's basically no increase attack speed on the tree.
Sunder and other slow skills should just be 10-20% faster and we should accept they're for bosses/rares, they just need to make leap slam/stampede/shield slam/corrupting cry builds actually good and give earthshatter spikes WAY bigger base aoe and clear would fix warrior.
Pillar Gemling with kitokos on stormwave was easily my fastest leveling experience so far, and is still outpacing most of my other characters only at 70. Resonance combat frenzy tech works great for falling thunder too. It's kinda nutty how strong stat stacking is already.
@@Zhantesuken Look up Pillar/HoWA Gemling, I copied that sans curse weapon swap. Grabbed Resonance, used Kitokos, Black Sun, Pillar, with Combat Frenzy, Overwhelming Presence, and Herald of Lightning. Used Stormwave almost exclusively, added Falling Thunder when I got up to Resonance.
In case there is a rare monster or death effect somewhere that could just 1 shot you, sometimes it’s best to wait for ~3 seconds and also clearing nearby monster before picking it up. Dying means losing that divine 😂
theyd need to make skills way better on their own if they wanted that. right now youre still forced to funnel your build into 1 main skill, maybe with a second utility to set it up. Which already existed in poe1. Lightning conduit for instance. you still use usually at least 2 skills for most builds but yeah... their design philosophy doesnt function with the idea of using a bunch of different skills. except for like early in the campaign when youre not getting one/twoshot lol. Game feels like they played it through act 1 and the rest was just "well in theory this should work, send it!"
It says a lot when people STILL want to focus on a single skill and save their fingers the damage of having to click 2-3 buttons just to clear a single pack. That's all it is. Combos are nice, for tanky rares and bosses. Let's see how the player base reacts. I think combos will not work out in the end, once the playerbase settles and more stuff is figured out.
As more of a casual player the current pace and movement has pretty much made me quit. You have mobs that in general are quicker and more intense than most of poe1's history, more cluster fk'y boss fights than ever but then they totally restrict your ability to manoeuvre, which is where a lot of fluidity, skill and survivability can come from. Such a dumb choice by the devs its hard to know what is going on in their heads sometimes.
@ I don’t understand what you mean tbh. 2-3 buttons in what context? Against bosses? To clear packs of white mobs? Context is important. Because needing multiple buttons to set up higher damage on bosses and tanky rares is perfectly fine. Needing 2-3 buttons to clear basic packs is not. Thats why most builds gravitate towards a single skill for clearing and then some other set up for damage. And yes, having to press multiple buttons per pack over the course of thousands of maps in a league is definitely hard on your wrist and fingers over the course of time. Sooner or later, you’ll start to feel it. That’s just a fact. That’s why single button builds are so popular.
Trying this build right now and it's loads of fun for leveling. Passive tree got interesting again, every item that drops I check for stats. Really fun to play and dont forget to add screen shake lol
I really love and respect GGG for all the great things they've done over the years, but holy shit base minimum attack speed is the most pseudo-difficulty bullshit I've ever seen
It's not pointless - it can't scale very well with added attack speed, so you have to invest in other stats. If that can make it strong enough at all stages of the game then it's correctly balanced - and it seems to work in Mathil's case. This means that in exchange for the disadvantage of being always slow, it must be giving you some sort of benefit that makes up for it. With the weapon swap system you could even use it only occasionally with a slow offhand weapon, with an offhand passive skill tree that has no attack speed nodes. And if you don't like the playstyle then you can always play with a different skill.
@@velizarhristov1838 I never said it was pointless, I said it added difficulty in a very inorganic way. I think having poor scaling instead of a hard-set base minimum feels better to me as a player.
@@nikotsaros3562 Can't you comprehend that they can't allow every single skill to be super fast because it will turn into mindless slop like PoE 1? They don't need PoE 1 in PoE 2, they already have super fast game so now they are trying to make game more tame in that aspect

If youre dying to on death effects, youre positioning is wrong or youre brute forcing trying to speed up poe2 and youre being punished for it.
Maybe cause you play evade and idk you playing acrobatics cause you cant evade ground effect so your character have small amout of defense aaand if you playing evasion you have to be prepered that you get 0dmg but if you eventually got hit you are dead
Windblast seems decent, leveling with it and staggering palm on a Pillar with fire runes and HoA. It's also a melee tag skill despite having a lot of range, so you can generate rage off it etc
I’m playing my warrior as staff wielder using wind skills…I ascended as a Titan (for slam focus) and want to spec him into phys dmg, two hand weapon dmg and area of effect dmg. So far it’s feeling good but I def need the evasion and armor to make it feel good.
I'm curious how many of those deaths occurred during the slow ass attack animation? Or is it possible to roll out of it whilst you're mid air? With them basing game mechanics around the ability to quickly roll out of the way of various attacks, this slow play style seems like it's just going to get you killed constantly.
so wait when you stack weapon damage you don't need any % damage increase from anywhere else, such as + % phys or ele? what about 25% of damage gained as chaos, wouldn't you want to buff chaos damage %?
Looks like a sick build, but I got a question. We have nearly identical gear and stats and your damage is 10x mine. Is there some sort of trick im missing?
Funny enough i tried doing a similar build while trying this with a gemling. And then i found out how absurdly high the atk for siphoning strike was. So i ended uo going an avatar of fire build with siphoning strike acting as bith my map clear and bossing attack along with bell lol.
the way ggg have split skills into enablers or whatever that you have to use to help active big damage doesn't feel good. i was looking forward to playing eye of winter until it became apparent it would be an enabler skill.
Eye of Winter feels pretty good as a main skill imo if you pair it with Archmage + Frost Bolt and then support it with Considered Casting + Fork + Unleash. The ice path from frost bolt give your Eyes of Winter 50% increased cold damage. Clearing t15's fine with it, and boss damage is pretty much insta kill. One thing I notice people using archmage forget to do is ensure that the lightning damage advertised in the DPS tooltip is actually hitting the enemy in full (ie. ensure you can penetrate the lightning resistance on enemies). I encourage you to explore it a bit more before dismissing it
Vaulting Impact has beautiful animation, but using it as a main skill is boring. I think it would be a good idea to rework it into the way Hammer of the Gods. An exceptional use with a huge impact.
If you can’t slam with the best, jam with the rest. Merc is pretty versatile in general on ascendancies but I really think gemling works better here especially for what you’re going for. Culling imo seems a lot more valuable on a build with a lot of faster smaller hits. I was working towards something similar on Gemling, good to know it probably isn’t worth it unfortunately. Hopefully the phys skills get beefed up in the future l, I really want to make a phys based melee stick fighter.
tbh im pretty annoyed that they brought back attributes on items. I thought i heard before the game came out that they removed rolling attributes on magic/rare items and itd be a unique only thing.
