Just in case anyone didnt know. During "Tales of Ba Sing Se" there is a clip immediately following Iroh's story line that reads "In honor of Mako." Mako Iwamatsu was the original voice actor for Iroh. He died of esophageal cancer before they could finish the show. His last episode was filmed near the end of S2, but his last lines where at the beginning of S3. Leaves from the Vine/Soldier boy was a song he would often sing to himself during his time battling his disease.
My best friend in college also had never watched the show. We were roommates out final year and she found me listening to it while studying. I was in the middle of season 1 at the time and she asked a ton of questions so I put the first episode on. I left that weekend to go home and I come back to find her on season 3 totally hooked
@@ericcartman1328 He wouldn't. When he attacked Ba Sing Se as the great Dragon of the west, he thought he was in the right to do so. Iroh only became the wise man he is through his biggest loss at Ba Sing Se. After that he wandered around the world, even went to see some spirits in the spirit world and got his enlightenment. He's like Zuko, a good soul previously trapped inside a monster brainwashed by the fire nation, but now fighting for the right thing. Maybe that's why he bonded so much with Zuko...
Sad fact: The person who voice acted Iroh died of cancer and the picture of Iroh's son is actually a representation of the voice actor when he was young
zuko kissing the girl in ba sing se was the absolute best! and his whole “it was nice” is one of my favorite zuko parts ever!… wish they explained that he went back for her after the war and they ended up together… really really wanted that to happen also zuko apologizing to Iroh is still the best zuko and Iroh scene ever. 10/10
My Favorite character from Atla Was Katara. The girl with power but equally emotions. I just loved her character Arc. The Scene when Aang goes into Avatar state while confronting sandbenders everyone get back slowly slowly but katara was still and hugged Aang in that scene I fall in love with her. She is Amazing Waterbender as well as the best female powerful character written in past two decades. I just loved my girl ❤

Imagine being such a homie that you get drawn and get a cameo/callout by one of your favorite UA-camrs because you gifted a show to them. Kevin is incredible.
I love zuko with all my heart like he's so amazing and the writer who wrote his personality development is insane like i would give ANYTHING TO HUG ZUKO
Something I always thought was interesting about Ty Lee was that in the Ember Island episode she said she was worried about ending up being stuck in a matched set, but then at the end of the series she joins the Kyoshi Warriors who all dress exactly the same and use Kyoshi's fighting style. I'm really wishing we got to see more of her inner thoughts and feelings, because this choice, at-least on a surface level, feels similar to what she said she was trying to get away from.
Yes, but when she was in her family, being a part of a set was *forced* onto her: being in the Kyoshi Warriors, she was still able to blossom into her own unique personality, where she even said they bonded in prison because of her teaching them about chi blocking, something only *she’s* skilled in doing. So even though she’s part of a group, she can still have a sense of individuality.
Ember island players is an underrated masterpiece AND ITS ONE OF THE MORE POPULAR EPISODES its probably my 2nd favorite episode behind tales of ba sing se

Honestly Avatar was next level for letting Iroh full on sob on his son's grave like that. Just completely, unabashed in mourning and the camera doesn't look away
Zuko must of been terrified asking iroh for forgiveness. Every time he ask for forgiveness he was attacked. His dad burned him, katara shot water, sokka threaten him, and Ang completely reject him. Just saying Iroh was the only one to forgive him.

Me: *Earthbends and everyone does the splits like the boulder* It's not that big a thing, I mean yeah it's an awesome show, but there are tons of things people haven't watched that she probably has and Emily's not shaming them for it. Heck I never heard of or watched Hunter X Hunter until a friend told me about it. He didn't shame me for it or pressure me about it, just tried to encourage me to watch it. Same with another friend that introduced me to Haikyuu.
"I'm honestly kinda mad at middle school Emily for not taking part in the hype when it was in its prime." Gurl, A:tLA is always in its prime no matter how many years it has passed.
Just the other day I was playing an online game with a group of about 65 people and asked if anyone watched at la now its on Netflix, so many people had or said they were going to!
honestly, Netflix helped get atla to new fans including me! Most kids in high school rn were too young to remember how good of a show this is. Hell, there are people out there that never even saw a single episode on tv because the series already ended. Chances are this I one of those shows that will stay popular for a very, very long time. its already had 15 years so that proves a good bit.
I think everyone is silent when they watch the Last Agni Kai. It's just a captivating scene, a visual and musical masterpiece. There's no room for talk, just watch and listen
The final battle was a true masterpiece, when Aang being trapped in that boulder having a crisis on not knowing what to do and then turns into an absolute beast was amazing. The blind bandit episode was a really good episode and that will always stay favourite.
My dad used to be one of those uppity types that always said animated shows can’t be complex because animation is for kids. Then he heard me listening to Last Agni Kai and he needed to know what it was. ATLA completely shattered his view on animation. He’s always been a fan of Lord of the Rings and throughout the series he kept drawing comparisons to the multi level function world building in both. He seemed to surprise himself when he actually got emotional over the finale and Iroh.
Hidden there’s a lot more subtlety to Azula’s breakdown though. The point is that all her life she lived by the absolute standard Ozai set. She was a perfect pet of a child. “Not a hair out of place” even in advanced firebending. For all intents and purposes, Azula exemplified Ozai’s ideals of “honor.” Her complete and rapid mental disintegration is meant to show exactly just how truly disgusting and dishonorable Ozai’s dogma, and by extension the Fire Nation, really is. Without Ozai there to feed Azula’s ego she collapses under a self perceived pretense of failure. Because in any other instance, Ozai leaving Azula behind like he does would be punishment. That gets us to the actual Agni Kai. Azula was already as good as beaten when Zuko managed to bait her into combat against her usually calculating nature. The key thing is *her own life philosophy was not designed to make her fit to lead a nation* as hardly a day has passed and she’s already shattered without Ozai’s affirmation. In doing so she loses the duel when she attacks a bystander unprompted because she knows she can’t win. The whole point of Azula being taken down so simply is to show that she lost before they even showed up to challenge her. Think about it. She banished every palace worker in a fit of intense paranoia. Workers that will spread the news she’s lost it. How long before she is dethroned if she defeats Zuko? Azula is certainly a bad bitch, but she was never going to be a *Queen*
@@HiddenRealm I guess thats the thing. They really didn't have time for a long fight in the finale. They tried to convey Azula's unraveling as more of a severe mental breakdown.Something that would leave someone in no shape to fight at the level of a duel for the right to the throne. I do think they could have shown more before the fight to convey just how bad she'd collapsed but I think her absolutely pitiful tantrum once she's restrained does a good job of showing that. A lot of people wonder why she starts freaking and bawling. I took it as a tantrum because she'd realized that her status as daddy's favorite wasn't going to guarantee her success anymore. She assumed she had achieved perfection while Zuko and his allies were actively seeking improvement the entire time. They caught up and surpassed her and it bit her in the ass. She never realized the danger she had willingly put all her life aspirations in until she was finished. I think you can even see the exact moment where she realizes how badly she fucked up. When Katara freezes them both, you see Azula's eyes move around then narrow. I think that's the moment she knew she'd lost. And any semblance of stability or mental restraint turned to dust.
6:27 I knew exactly what episode she was on without having to listen to the episode audio, that face says it all lmao (dont worry, we've all been there.

Exactly, to this day!, To this day!
Rest in peace Mako. We’ll remember you forever
Azula was really off her game in that episode. Her bending was really messy and unorganized, and Zuko had landed a hit on her.
