True, had an extremely close call on the road, almost got smashed in the side by a speeding car, fraction of a second out and we would have died. Didn't even flinch, just "lol that was close, aye?". I'm not brave, just Australian. 😂
Aussie too and same here with a narrow squeak of an escape from a bus going into a swerve and correcting it alongside my car. " That was fkn close."....kept driving. Again when a speeding driver hit a wet patch and spun full circle, beside my car, to a halt. " Fkn what?"....kept driving. It's over as soon as it's happened, you're still in one piece, move on with your day. Immediately after escaping the first incident my mum beside me commented calmly, " You've got nerves of steel girl." Me: " You too mum."
I've been on a plane when lightning stuck it!! Its a loud bang for sure and the light popped too! I just started laughing while everyone behind me started screaming and crying!! One of the funniest things I've seen and been a part of!!
If your calm while everyone around you is falling apart in a panic , you probroubly haven't grasped the gravity of the situation. Or your an Aussie 🤣😂🤣
I was a pilot in Australia for over 22 years and back in the days when i was flying smaller aircraft where passengers could occupy a front seat next to me i always told them the only time you need to panic is when the pilot shows fear Regardless of the situation that will never happen
10 years ago now but I was on a plane about to arrive at my layover on my visit to America. There was a lightning storm going on and the woman sitting next to me (I was window seat) was craned forward looking at the lightning with extreme worry. Like, fixated on it. I looked out at the lightning, looked at her, looked out at the lightning, then just calmly pulled the shutter down and got on with the prep for landing - putting my book away, tray up etc. She looked at me like I was absolutely bonkers. 😅
Carl: Wings on Fire!! Passenger next to him: Hey can you go sit out on it when we land....Mrs bloody loved Twilight Zone..(peace..will remove if unacceptable)
Aussie here. During covid my Wmerican boss had a ln extension being built into the business. I was standing near one of the brick walls and having a cigarette. I heard a creak, stepped away and the wall fell and just missed me. In security footage you can see light up another cigarette, take it all in, pull out my camera and send a photo to my boss with “Well, that just happened.” He came racing down and was in a sheer panic. When the builders arrived he was losing his mind, yelling and screaming and pointing at me saying I could have died. The builders came to me to ask what had happened, I was reassuring them as the yelling got them anxious. I kept saying it’s ‘cool’, ‘no biggie’ and ‘no harm done’. The boss got angry at my manager because I had undermined him.
“That doesn’t look good” That is the most accurate line Carl has ever said.
Best Aussie comedian hands down.

I either tend to laugh/smile in awkward situations or burst into tears

i love this guy's sense of humor, he puts the funny back in life, that we all miss, since those PC cops have destroyed the aussie way of life.
