As someone that's in the process of reading the third book of the _Three Body_ triology, that dramatic separation into eras almost felt like another chapter 😄

I will copy my reply to another comment -
I think we should see it this way. We captured data, organized and distilled it to make our presentation for the meeting tomorrow. Expressing is basically converting the distilled information in a digestible format. It need not apply in every area of our lives, sometimes just stopping at distil is more than sufficient. If it is a set of information, you can stop at organize. If it is just a temporary thing you need to remember for the next 3-4 hours and will no longer need it, capturing should be sufficient.

Glad to see that you did indeed continue this theme, just as you replied to my other comment. If there is anyone out there in the position to make a single all-in-one software which has functionality designed around all of these essential steps to avoid information overload, CODE, and Second Brain, it'd definitely be you! Tons of people would definitely support you! (myself included)
Anyhow, looking forward to more granular explanations of the CODE framework and software/apps you recommend for it. Keep up the great work!
PS: Your writers and editors are sure earning their holiday bonuses this year! Awesome job all around!

Tiago, awesome short video that scintillates. FYI, for the past few years all my leadership related classes have slides and discussion related to perspectives ("Most useful in plural" I always emphasize) and the Paul Saffo quote. Another powerful reminder is an Alan Kay quote: A change in perspective is worth 80 IQ points. I often use Michael Paul Smith's forced perspective photograph pair as an illustrative exercise to segue into the topic.

But aren't we just adding to the noise? If we aim to express what we learn by sharing online, aren't we just another creator adding to information overload?

I had this thought before I started sharing online. But I told myself two things. 1) don't share banal content, turn that idea of "noise" on its head and share something that has value. 2) you surely have your own style. Of course, there is certainly a lot of content online, but think about the person who wants to come across your content, don't deprive them of it. Little bonus: the Internet can handle all this “noise” but it doesn’t stop ideas from coming out. There is nothing more honorable than sharing! ;)

This question and the thoughts it reveals is a point of view--your point of view aka your perspective. Merely by sharing it here as a comment, you have triggered thoughts and responses in whoever reads it. Express need not be confined to the obvious blogging and video making. We can express the distilled ideas from our knowledge base (second brain) in any work we do and the way we tackle the situations we face. Keep raising questions, something you are especially good at. Best wishes.

This world has certainly evolved faster than us. As you say, we simply cannot handle all the abundance of content and knowledge, I sense the era of AI will either place us deeper into this (slowly becoming the humans in Wall.e) or as you talk about here, letting go of it and gaining greater perspective (where everyone leans into expression, not just "creatives"). I am hoping for, working toward, and committed to the latter ❤

the pattern between those things is about what is more fundamental, because if you have a well defined perspective then you will pay your attention (it is more about being conscious about what you do, using mind) to what align with your values (in a specific area, because, values are objective, like patience, thank, mercy, and so on), and by paying your attention to something, you spends your resources (in general instead of space alone, including time and information) on it.
so if someone spends his resources in something does not yield any value, then it is a waste of resources, and just to remind, there is a relationship between resources, so any misusing of one, could be a misuse of the others, and any good use of one, could be a misusing for another, and so on, you need to find the balance, and to be a purpose oriented, and that is why i see them as one thing, for example, mind (be thankful that you have it, because you can lose it, and you can not improve it, it is a fundamental thing, logic and making decision, you can make good decisions and reflections, but this is not about having a good mind, there is no such a good mind or a bad one, but there is a more informations, and less information, and that is the relation), and to use your resources the right way, first, do not waste them, instead, invest them.
long story short, from the beginning of human kind, resources were always there, but what differs from time to another, is the scarcity abundance game, which acts on resources, including informations which are the building block (information -> mind makes decision -> action), if they can manipulate it, then, they can manipulate your decisions, and make you another cog in the factory, or another number from their customers, or more fundamentally, an extra money in the annual revenues, and by PKM (personal knowledge management) you prevent your self from this.

I agree with most everything stated, but I'd argue the "space era" has never really ended. The globe is still very much at war for resources (and we like to call it other things such as democracy and religion, but in reality, it's the push for global resources and dominance).

Pretty soon an AI will automatically note what it notes you'll want noted, it will automatically collate that data in new ways the way you'd have done it, and then it'll auto post them for you.

This may have gone over my head but I don't think I agree and see a major difference between attention and perspective - is it the scale or ability to pay attention to multiple things and filter? Still sounds like attention. You have one head and one set of eyes (point of view, physical and mental) and you're bound by this - everything is about attention and focus. Even the images you use (eye vs telescope) are basically the same. I get there's the techne aspect of the telescope and it fits with what you're doing with digital and mental systems, but fundamentally it seems the same. A good spin and a catchy title (going against the established "attention is most important") but I don't see a clear shift or what defines this new era. Great video though, top editing and video quality.
