  • The Barnard/Columbia Ancient Drama Group Presents:
    Euripides’ Ion (2015)
    Directed by Rachel Herzog
Performed in Greek with English Subtitles
    Minor Latham Playhouse, Barnard College
    April 2-4th, 2015
Euripides’ Ion is a dynamic, innovative, and rarely performed exploration of family, survival, and what it means to live in a world where even the gods commit atrocities. The play tells the story of Creusa, an Athenian princess who was once raped by the god Apollo, and Ion, a foundling raised as a servant in Apollo’s temple at Delphi. Their meeting unleashes an exciting plot of mistaken identities, long-kept secrets, and, ultimately, reunion and reconciliation. This production was performed in the original Greek, and includes original music and choreography. Please note that the play contains non-graphic discussion of sexual assault and its aftermath.
Cast: Eli Aizikowitz, Yujhán Claros, Anna Conser, Kay Gabriel, Chloe Hawkey, Elizabeth Heintges, Vikram Kumar, Nathan Levine, Elizabeth McNamara, Lina Nania, Simone Oppen, Victoria Schmidt-Scheuber, Caleb Simone, and Verity Walsh.

Another of Euripides' "tragedy with a happy ending", this is brilliant. All the angst, questioning of society, etc., but with a ending in which all the humans get what they want.
