Thank you for the guide man. I've been wanting to pick up Olimar as he's part of my absolute favorite games series but for some reason I've never decided to try and main him until now. These tips and tricks are very useful!

Might learn at a later date but not keen on micromanaging colors while getting stabbed by fire emblem characters. I think Olimar is definitely a character to play once you are VERY good at the game already.

There’s a glitch with olimar that if you fast fall through a platform and grab on the main stage, the pikmin left behind in the platform can actually grab and throw opponents!

Not sure if other people know this, but you can use attack cancelling to double switch pikmin, i.e., if you have red up next, and attack cancel -> fair, a yellow fair will come out.
orphiccoma which specific cancel would this be? Trying to test this out but not having much luck. Pls explain 🤯
@@CarlosRuiz-qv8lx First input a smash, and then, in the first two frames, input a jump (helps to have jump on a shoulder imo, but not needed). you should get a shorthop aerial with the pikmin 2nd from lead.
orphiccoma oh okay so it’s smash attacks you cancel. forgot you could cancel those. seems like a small window! but most attack cancels are. Thanks!

Btw if you do down smash you skip two pikmins instead of one since the move uses two pikmins. For example if you have r>y>b and you down smash jump cancel, you will attack with blue.

Yes! I decided to switch from Kirby and tried pichu, and was starting to love him but when I played him online he didn’t satisfy me. But then I trepidation every single character and when I got to oilman I loved him! And trying him for 7hours I went online and he was amazing! Looking forward to seeing more oilman videos in the future!
Same here man. I've been a kirby main in every smash game and really enjoyed the melee dash attack's return but i tried out olimar and might have a new fighter to play with. Good luck in learning olimar!

Whenever I tried to get strategic with The Pikmin, I get slapped HARD! If I ever give Olimar another shot, I’m just going to work with what I have at the moment. I definitely feel like he could have been designed better though. Maybe if players had the ability to pull out whatever Pikmin they wanted instead of being stuck in a set order...
Pikmin management is a skill refined with a lot of effort. It definitely gets easier with time.

I think a good quality of life tweak would be to change the color of the arrow on them would make it easier to see what pinkman I currently have

the pikmin you need depend on your character (by what i learned)
2 purple and 1 blue: useful overall, allows for stronger attacks and throw high% combo starters at lower%
3 reds: useful when you cant do enough damage to a character with purples and they have fire attacks
2 blues and 1 red: useful against characters that are bad at close range
3 purples: useful for racking up damage at medium range and to edgeguard
2 whites and 1 blue: useful when you need to get a grab on someone
you will never realistically be able to acheive this in a game

How to win as olimar:
Throw yo babies at the enemy
Do yellow pikmin still stun the enemy for slightly longer after being used for an aerial? That used to be a thing right, juggling with yellows?
Yellows have more hitstun and range so yeah they can be better for juggles in some cases.
See what's fun is playing olimar on stamina, (unless they're joker and can use damage to their advantage) it's just like playing actual pikmin, you just keep running around throwing pikmin at them until their boss health drops to zero
Sudden death is a beauty
Olimar and Alph need a little display by their name to show which pikmin is next in line. That arrow is too small and it’s hard to tell who it’s pointing to. At least make the arrow change color based on the pikmin
"Keep your eyes open, and mix up your options until you're on your feet again."
Man, if that isn't good advice for *any* character.

Purple-smash attack
Red-Arial
Yellow-Combo
also purple can help side B pressure and fancy edgeguardings
while yellow can help for the more efficient edgeguarding
reds can be used as a substitue for purple to realize forward smash attacks with long range
Alph is better but there is no alph tutorials so here I am

I’m a proud Olimar main, but I’ve been having a rough time being offstage without Pikmin. Any tips on how to recover from that or to avoid that happening in the first place?
If you don't have any Pikmin you can likely use your up-b to out maneuver the opponent and recover once on stage you only need 1 frame to pluck at least one.

Not an olimar main but what about using pjmmin as defensive options between jumps then recover
I use the high up B mobility sometimes to bait my oponent to go too low for me, if they don't I just try to mix up my recovery by being unpredictable and most of the time you should land with neutral air up B cancel followed by a fast fall if you don't grab the ledge
the main issue most people have with this character is that they forget to whistle to use different pikmin for different moves
Hmmmmm ur quite good hope to play u on the battle field fellow olivar main as many know we’re one of a kind : ) also u forgot to state that u can punish characters by forcing them into to situations like if they attack a pikmin on them u can go in for a grab but i think u know that just saying if some didn’t know

Surprising to see that people wanted to see a guide for Olimar, seeing that he’s the least played character in smash. Guess people wanted to try a new character for once, unlike me, who only uses Ness, Lucas, Greninja, and Olimar since smash 4. But then again you can tell by the list that I and a few other people who also main Olimar already beat the people who finally want to try Olimar out to mastering the character.
Edit: Nevermind. I just realized that Olimar is still the least played character. Thanks to you all who main the character, though. He may seem bad to normal Smash players but the majority of the people who main him think he has potential.

Hi Myran. When you say blue is +70% for grabs, is it more the more blue pikmin you have in a grab, since they all grab now?
It's only the first one in the line. The 70% increase is for when you grab with a blue as the first pikmin. Grabbing with 2 or 3 pikmin only adds a few percent of damage.

What about this doesn't come off as a beginners guide? Also I'd like to point out that this is new a brand new to smash bros guide. But a new to playing Olimar while having a basic understanding of smash guide.
@@MyranSSB yeah. I'm not new to smash. I've been playing since 64 was new. I came here to learn Olimar and what his moves do because he's confusing as hell. This does not explain him or his moves at all. It refers to them as if you already know what they area nd explains nothing unless you already understand Olimar. Intermediate, maybe. Definitely not beginner.
It tells you the bonuses each of his Pikmins get, but not how those are applied, what moves those bonuses apply to, how to throw them, how to anything, what his b moves do, NOTHING. What do you mean what about this doesn't come off as a beginner guide? NONE of it comes off as a beginner guide. You must not see that for the same reason it's not a beginner guide. It is made without consideration for the perspective of someone who hasn't played Olimar ... Which is what beginner means.
@@effie8547 Well I made my guide with the assumption that you have at least chosen the character once or can choose him and see his moves. I even say in the video that the guide will be simple. I have other videos breaking down certain topics more. I also go over the Pikmin attributes and when I do that it explains what moves they affect.
I think you just have a different view of beginner and that's fine. This guide wasn't for you. But for what is there I think it does it well enough. I have some other videos on the channel that can help break certain things down more though if you're still looking.
@@MyranSSB I picked him like 10 times. Got frustrated. Went to youtube to find newb guides. Yours is on top and taught me nothing, because it isn't for beginners. I don't know who it is for because it is simple, but it doesn't explain anything that a new Olimar player can use. It assumes you know all of his moves, which is NOT what "beginner" means. Begin. You just began. As in you don't know his moves. That's what I am. It's frustrating to watch a video labeled beginner and learn nothing because the entire video assumes that I know how to do his moves and what they all do and are named. I don't. Because I'm a beginner Olimar player.
