No computers, no FEA, no CFD, just great engineering. And, Just Jane is being rebuilt in way superior to WW2 manufacturing. With utmost respect to those folks in the war, these aircraft were not expected to last more than a few weeks, so meticulous attention to corrosion resistance and longevity were not high on the list. Just Jane will surely be around well into the next century. A wonderful testament to the wonderful people who dedicated their lives to the success of WWII , and to the terrific dedication of the craftsmen at E Kirkby. All captured by Neville. Thumbs up, then watch the video.

I`ve looked into this Like, Comment, Views, Subscribe thing. The most important are Likes, Views, Comments. The amount subscribed to Neville`s channel is woeful, but surprisingly, not the most important thing. 500 likes after 20 hours not bad.

I’m going to have a punt on the black bomb Aimers compartment. Black is anti reflective and could have been used to absorb glare from searchlights and anti aircraft fire .

One thing that I've noticed over the years is that the people doing the work have become used to explaining what they are doing, and are showing their passion for the job. I think this is mostly because they see your videos as a very positive thing, and your own work gains as a result. Well done!

Hello Neville, I’ve been following your coverage of NX611 for some time and always look forward to new videos. If the Gerald I occasionally see in your videos is Gerald Riddett, who flew in Moncton NB a number of years ago please say hello for me. Cheers, Graham Sheppard.

The attention to detail is enormous to the extent that I just wonder whether the production line aeroplane was built to this standard. Granted that the wartime aircraft probably had a short expectation of life, NX611 is being built for a hopefully long life. Granted that NX 611 will not be required to carry a bomb load are we all sure that the engineering is not going to be overly heavy.

I suspect the airworthy standards of today in peacetime are a lot more stringent than what was needed in 1943. You really only need look at the extensive ongoing maintenance the BBMF Lancaster receives, and it carries no bomb load neither.

This is great Nev … hope that you are good sir? Be nice to meet you someday at East Kirkby. When you do your filming is the centre open for visitors as you would have a proper authorisation like the staff I would imagine ?

Neville when they cut the metal out how do they bend the circle bits over without leaving a crease in them

Neville, your Lancasters and others were night bombing- I'm sure light control was important both he bomb aimer's sight as well as others and as a cloak in the darkness.

With all those panels being replaced you could build another Lancaster or better still sell them off.
